Usually Microsoft waits until their big E3 showcase to announce anything new with their hardware but it looks like we are getting a new Xbox One announcement a little early. Almost a week earlier than if it was during the normal show but I'll take it. Especially when it comes down to us getting a 1TB Xbox One. Yes! There is a new Xbox One and it comes with 1TB of storage space built in. The next best part is that it will be on shelves on June 16th just as with all of their other announced hardware usually falls around E3 here. Double the storage!
Not only are we getting a 1TB Xbox One for $399 now but there is also a new Xbox One controller being bundled into the package that features a 3.5mm stereo jack that lets you plug a headset right into the controller. There are other improvements to go along with the new wireless Xbox One controller but that seems to be the big thing here. Well that and being able to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your Xbox One. Don't worry though you will be able to buy this new controller by itself for $64.99 on the same day mentioned above.
To sweeten the deal a bit more for the 1TB Xbox One in select regions and for a limited time Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be bundled alongside your new system. It would seem now would be the time to stop holding out on purchasing an Xbox One as the new set up has all the space and all of the bells and whistles we are going to see until most likely this holiday season or next E3. That is if they don't announce any other new hardware during their big showcasing.
If the $400 price tag is too much for the 1TB Xbox One then it is worth noting, even though it was a footnote in the larger announcement, the 500GB Xbox One bundles will now only be $349 as of the time you are reading this. That date should be 6/9/15 if you are following along religiously as you should be here. For more reasons why have a look at what Major Nelson has to say on the matter here for the Xbox One.
Xbox One 1TB Console With New Xbox One Wireless Controller
It is extremely interesting that Microsoft has announced the new hardware and price drops for the Xbox One this early for E3. As I mentioned usually this is something used to highlight the main press conference and held dearly until then. This most likely means that they are looking to completely focus on just the games coming to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 during their showcase. Or they think they have some huge show stopper that will completely trump this new information and have us talking about something other than the 1TB Xbox One and the price drops. I know I am excited to see what is being held as more important over there.
Given all of that, what do you think? Is now the time you are going to be making the jump into the Xbox One or are you still going to hold out for some reason? What do you think Microsoft is going to show during E3 that is going to be a larger thing to talk about besides the new hardware and price drop? Do you think this is opening space for new IPs or juts more filler for games we already know are coming? Let us all know what you are thinking down in the comments below.
