Splatterhouse Has A Theme Park
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 29th of October 2010 - 09:02 PM ]
No, I'm not talking some Halloween park inspired by the game, although that would be awesome. (I just ©ed that.) Instead it is a glimpse of another location in the upcoming Splatterhouse "remake." Although I think that a different name should have been used, but hey, I guess Dandyland works. I do expect Namco to have a few "homophobic" articles to pop over this - just like Enslaved and the "racism." In the end though, that should be the last bit of news to surface for Splatterhouse. Well besides the game going Gold and locking in the November 23rd release date. Read More…

Review: God of War: Ghost of Sparta
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 28th of October 2010 - 09:05 PM ]
Kratos is back yet again to take on the gods for the torment they have put him through. Well kind of. Kratos is back to show the world why he was so pissed at the beginning of God of War 2 - not to mention that finally one of the original storylines for the franchise is brought into the mix. In fact, it is the pivotal point for the whole story this time. The focus revolving around Kratos having a brother that was taken to the Underworld. Read More…

Review: Rock Band 3 [Gamer Version]
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 26th of October 2010 - 08:53 PM ]
So here we go again. Another rhythm game comes to the market, only this time it is one that is truly trying to innovate the genre. I am talking in more ways than just trying to add new ways to play songs in the way of four guitars or adding challenges to earn more points and "stars." Though we already knew that Rock Band 3 was adding in a new instrument and a "Learn To Play Real Instruments" mode, it's how they went about it that changes the genre. This of course makes Rock Band 3 more than just another game. Being that there is so much going on with Rock Band 3, I've decided to break it up into two reviews. Read More…

Blizzcon 2010 In A Nutshell
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 25th of October 2010 - 10:16 PM ]
Here we are, the day after the most anticipated weekend of conventions, Blizzcon. For your typical Blizzcon, it seemed they didn't have any major announcements this year. No Diablo III release date. No word on their new MMO (World of Jersey Shorecraft??) but I will say the cosplay contest was probably the best I've seen so far. Chris Metzen hosted this year's keynote, and after some Blizzard buffs, we broke into a steady run of news beginning with the next WoW expansion. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be on sale December 7th, and for those that don't want to wait in line at midnight, players can buy and download directly from the website in advance. Read More…

Diablo III New Class Revealed At Blizzcon 2010
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 25th of October 2010 - 04:16 PM ]
Blizzcon is over and that means news. Everyone including myself was expecting a release date for Diablo III, but instead we got a reveal of the 5th class called the Demon Hunter. The Demon Hunter is a dual crossbow wielding, bola throwing, walking ball of destruction. Check out the Trailer below, as well as a look at some of the game play. I'll let the videos speak from themselves. Here's a video of the Demon Hunter in action. Read More…

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. New BioShock Infinite Screens Will Pluck You Eyes Out
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 08:42 PM ]
Why do I have a feeling that these crows are going to play a HUGE part of BioShock Infinite? I mean we all know it looks like there will be a Plasmid based around using a murder of crows, but is there going to be more than that? There also seems to be a lack of any other bird type in any of the visuals we have been shown thus far - unless you count angels, in the form of statues, as birds. I don't. If you haven't looked down by now, then I am telling you to seize the opportunity. Read More…

Nintendo Announces Red, Will See Green This Holiday Season
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 05:29 PM ]
Today, Nintendo announced new holiday bundles to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. release on the NES. Going "Mario-red," the new Wii and DSi XL will each have Mario games bundled in with them to complete the experience. Nintendo also unveiled the new Wii-mote with the Wii Motion Plus technology built into the original frame. Okay, so once I got over the initial lust for the little red console, I noticed little nuances that I know will have no bearing on what actually will happen in real life, but I thought worth mentioning.    First, we start with the most obvious: the new Wii-mote. In Case You Didn't Know The Story For Scorpion...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 20th of October 2010 - 08:36 PM ]
The devs working on the new rendition of Mortal Kombat have been nice enough to let us know all that is going on with Scorpion and why he is risking his unlife for revenge. Just in case we didn't get it from all the earlier titles, movies and every other Mortal Kombat based IP out there. It would seem so. In case you are a virgin to the Mortal Kombat story, have been hit in the head repeatedly, or both, let me recap. Scorpion blames Sub Zero for destroy himself and his entire clan. Read More…

Review: Comic Jumper
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 18th of October 2010 - 10:38 PM ]
Captain Smiley's very own comic has been canceled because it, well, sucked. Lame villains, corny jokes, bad dialog and it pretty much made no sense at all. So what is an unemployed comic book hero to do? Jump into other comics as a mercenary and help solve huge issues that may be going on. All in the hopes to get enough scratch together so Captain Smiley can bring back his own book. I kid you not. Read More…

This Saw II Trap Looks Star Wars Inspired
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 18th of October 2010 - 04:06 PM ]
So Saw II: Flesh And Blood hits selves next week just in time to ride all the hype from the upcoming film. Not to miss a beat, obviously Konami is going to throw some more screens out there to entice those of us that are fans of the franchise and interested in the game. Yes I am one of those said people hence why I try to keep you all up to date on what is going on here. Well it looks like in this most recent push that Jigsaw was inspired by Star Wars a bit. The old rust walls compacting in to crush the garbage that happens to be in between them. Read More…

Splatterhouse's Rick Is More Bad Ass Than Wolverine
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of October 2010 - 10:33 PM ]
If you don't believe the title, look at the new set of visuals for Splatterhouse. These screen shots show off a bit on how the "Health" meter of Splatterhouse will be visually shown on Rick. As he gets hurt the character model changes as appropriate. Not to major of new news there but it is something that has been seen this up close and personal. I mean these lacerations and complete loss of flesh look rather realistic, at least for the game's style. So how does this make Rick more bad ass? Read More…

God Of War Screens Not As Epic As The Trailer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of October 2010 - 07:07 PM ]
The title really says it all here. Below you will find a new set of screen shots from God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta. Some will look similar to things we have seen and already played in the demo. Some are a bit new. But in the end, they really don't do anything to excite like the most recent Back-story Trailer from last week. This makes me kind of sad. Not sad as in the game will be horrible, but sad in the fact that this kind of slows the epic steamroller it looked like Sony was getting in motion for teases until launch. Read More…

Netflix And Sony Just Gave Us Coasters
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of October 2010 - 04:25 PM ]
We can all rejoice! The Netflix app is coming to the PS3 on the 18th of October. That's only a few days from now so use those soon to be obsolete PS3 discs until they no longer spin. Or at least find some new use for them. Maybe some form of artwork like some have done with the AOL disc of the old internet days. But the new app does not just bring the ability to instantly stream movies and TV without a disc. What else are we are getting? Read More…
