E3 2013 Impression: Mad Max
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 21st of June 2013 - 11:00 PM ]
I was born when Mad Max 2 hit the big screen and I was barely four when Beyond Thunderdome came out, but that still didn't stop me from enjoying the films, and the NES game, in my youth. You can only imagine my excitement when I saw the announcement trailer for Mad Max during the Sony press conference. Even though it was all CGI, Avalanche Studios had an Alpha build of the game in the Warner Bros. booth to show to all of us eager fans. Read More...

E3 2013 Impression: Destiny
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of June 2013 - 09:13 PM ]
If I have to say one thing to start it off, Bungie and Activision kept the ball rolling with Destiny and not hiding anything special behind the closed doors of E3. While yes there was a demo that people stood in line for up to two hours to get a new look at Destiny, for the most part it was exactly what was shown during the Sony press conference at the start of the show. Even down to the people who were showing off the game. If you don't believe me, you can go ahead and watch the whole demo that was shown in Activision's booth during the week. Read More...

PS4 Vs. Xbox One UPDATE
by Greg Tatterfield [ Wednesday, 19th of June 2013 - 11:51 PM ]
Microsoft has just released an update for the Xbox One on their official site. After the fan outcry about Microsoft’s aggressive DRM policies it seems like they have turned over a new leaf. To update my previous article PS4 Vs. Xbox One, here is what is changing with the Xbox One. Always on line no more Microsoft has confirmed that you will not be required to be online to play single player games. After you complete a onetime set up after the un-boxing you will never have to connect with the Xbox servers again just as with the Xbox 360. There is no 24-hour check in required to play your games. More Information About Kingdom Hearts III Has Been Revealed
by Kenton Winkfield [ Wednesday, 19th of June 2013 - 10:08 PM ]
Recently a Japanese video game news magazine called Famitsu had a conversation with Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III, in an attempt to get some more information about the game. Thankfully we were able to get a translation of the information. Nomura has confirmed that the game will pick up where Dream Drop Distance left off and will be the final game in the "Dark Seeker" saga that was started in the first Kingdom Hearts game. The team is currently deciding which worlds will be used in the game. I personally hope we get a Star Wars world. Read More...

It's been ten years since we first met Sora in Kingdom Hearts and watched him team up with Donald and Goofy on a quest to find King Mickey and ultimately save the various worlds in the Disney universe from the clutches of the Heartless. Through the next nine games to be released we have watched Sora and company grow up while facing new foes and making new friends along the way. As well as learning of the history of the Kingdom Hearts universe and everyone in it. Yet Another Live Action/CGI Trailer... This Time For Thief
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 11th of June 2013 - 04:59 PM ]
Here we go. A new trailer for Thief. Let's see what Square Enix and Eidos have up their sleeves for us in the new game. Hopefully it is some amazing game play or an awesome CGI story type affair to let us know where Thief is going to take us this go around. It's been almost a decade since we had a good solid Thief game so please don't let us down. Wait… it's a live action trailer with a voice over? Maybe 2 seconds of game play unless that was some fancy CGI. Read More...

Is Dying Light A Capture The Flag/Parkour/Zombie Game?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 8th of June 2013 - 08:18 PM ]
Talk about another E3 trailer that is all CGI and no game play. A new trailer for Dying Light has just been released into the wild and it surprisingly shows no game play despite the fact that it will be on deck at the convention this year. What is interesting to note though is that even though there is no game play some of the events could point toward other aspects of the game than "survive the zombie uprising." Watch and enjoy the trailer and I'll throw out my speculations afterward. So we all know that Dying Light is going to have a free running aspect to the game. Read More...

Get Up Close And Personal With The Xbox One
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 31st of May 2013 - 11:03 PM ]
Unless you were one of the 200 or so members of the press and industry invited to the Xbox One announcement event you have had to deal with seeing the new console in static images around the net. It doesn't really let you get a good feel for how the Xbox One will look once you get it set up in your home. Since you clicked in here it is obvious that you want to get a better view and Sketchfab has you covered for that. While it doesn't put the console in your hands right now, the 3D rendering below does an amazing job letting you get a virtual feel and look at the XBone, Kinect 2, and the new controller. Parkour And The Undead Is Becoming A Thing In Dying Light
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 28th of May 2013 - 03:43 PM ]
Looks like Techland doesn't want to stop bringing the FPS zombie games with just the Dead Island franchise. Just announced is their new IP Dying Light which, as you have guessed, is another first person zombie game in an island/jungle locale. Before we start calling them out for rehashing the same platform like other developers and franchises, let's see what they have new to offer so they can claim this as a completely new IP. As mentioned in the title, there is a "free running" mechanic in place for starters. There isn't much detail on it as Dying Light is still in the early announcement stages but what is known is that it will allow us freedom of movement throughout the vast environments. Read More...

Things Are Getting Hairy For Call Of Duty: Ghosts
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 23rd of May 2013 - 04:35 PM ]
I am sure we are still trying to take in the Xbox One reveal and the odd focus on TV and Sports. But let's skip all of that for now and focus on the tail end of the reveal. I am talking Call Of Duty: Ghosts and the new trailer, behind the scenes, and comparison videos we all sat through 45 minutes to get to. Even though the Xbox One and 360 will be getting DLC first for the game, as usual, it is still a title that gamers of any platform can sink their teeth into. It looks like we are going into a post war world that has been ravaged by humans once again; the mongrels. Read More...

In Case You Missed It, The Xbox One Has Been Announced
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 21st of May 2013 - 11:25 PM ]
If by some weird chance you were busy during the huge online announcement, the new Xbox is named Xbox One. That of course isn't the only news around the new console of course. Along with the new name came the hardware specifications, a few "new" features, and a look at a few games… well kind of. Before I get into the nuts and bolts so you don't have to sit through a boobless hour of hype, here is the "announcement" clip showing the actual system hardware. Now that you are all excited let me point out the piss in your Cheerios there. After watching the whole reveal it looks like there is a lot more focus on making the Xbox One a home entertainment system instead of a gaming console. Read More...
