Aggrogamer Presents: 2009 Games of the Year
by Michael Camacho [ Tuesday, 2nd of February 2010 - 07:08 PM ]
When it comes to "Game of the Year" articles, they seem to all come out before the year is over. Is it a rush to be the first, or is it because no games really come out in December? Regardless, we at Aggrogamer decided it was best not to rush so we had time to play those few games that released in December. Everyone deserves a fair shot. We also thought of making just one list of our votes on Game of the Year, but instead settled on everyone coming up with their own lists and to forgo one single title as the Game of the Year. Dante's Inferno Needed A Montage
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 30th of January 2010 - 09:40 PM ]
While not the same montage sequence from Team America, it is none the less as awesome. Just in a different way. One was a comical character build up using marionettes. The other, well a action packed showing of how bad ass Dante is, and will be, through out the game. With Dante's showing him off with all the in game graphics and effects we will be getting here in just over a week. This clip is not all that long, but it will give you a cool feel for what actions and attack Dante will have in his arsenal. If you haven't played the demo all that many times that is. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 29th of January 2010 - 09:10 PM ]
Two days ago Apple announce their new tablet that they have been working on. We have seen the keynotes, the videos, the ooh's and the ahhh's, and tons of opinions on the device. TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, has announced the launch of Apple's new iPad, welcoming its potentials for creating further creative opportunities for game developers. First up we have Paul Farley, CEO of Tag Games made this statement, “The Apple iPad is another huge milestone in the move from games being consumed via physical retail to digital platforms. The iPhone is a hard act to follow, yet the impact of the iPad on the games industry could be equally as large. Read More...

BioShock 2 Shows Us How To Use The Scout Plasmid
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 27th of January 2010 - 10:32 PM ]
During your play through of BioShock, didn't you always wish there was a way to Scout out what was going on in the next room? Wouldn't have been nice to be able to do that and also set up or actually attack enemies in the next room so they were weaker before kicking down the door for the attack? I know I would have saved a few deaths if I was able to do that. Actually screaming out "I wish I could [insert what I said above]" when I died. Not really, but I can picture it in my head. Sword & Poker: The .99 Cent iPhone Battery Killer
by Kevin [ Sunday, 24th of January 2010 - 08:03 PM ]
I've come across a multitude of titles in the App Store that attempt to bridge the gap between two gaming genres. There have been varying degrees of success for most of these games, but every now and again there's a title that not only dares to get the formula right - but sees fit to destroy the battery in my phone (which, admittedly, with an iPhone isn't too terribly difficult). In this case the game in question is "Sword&Poker" - and yes it is exactly what it sounds like.In the world of Sword & Poker, the always dreaded Lord of Chaos has snagged the equally ominous Stone of Creation and has formed a intricate dungeon to protect his dark intent. ESPN Coming To XBox 360
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 20th of January 2010 - 02:28 AM ]
With all the consoles (finally) starting to stream digital media, either from Netflix, or from online stores, it seems that the only natural progression would be to start showing live TV shows/sporting events. ESPN were in talks with Microsoft in a very "private" meeting, about the possibility to stream sporting events live on the XBox 360. Of course fee's would be involved but now your average gamer, on any given sunday, could sit at home and switch back and forth from Madden '10 to whatever football game was on. For a per-subscriber fee, ESPN could provide live streams of sporting events, similar to the ones available through ESPN 360, a service that is available from some high-speed Internet providers. Review: Bayonetta
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 16th of January 2010 - 01:07 AM ]
I went into Bayonetta with much enthusiasm, but still approached it with caution. Was this another Japanese action game that relies on a sexy female protagonist and forgoes gameplay (see Onechanbara)? No, Bayonetta proved itself to be so much more. Bayonetta is a witch trying to remember her past and stop the resurrection of Jubileus The Creator.  She fights angels and other angelic beings from Paradiso. She fights with a variety of melee weapons while dual wielding pistols in her hands as well as another pair attached to her heels. Read More...

How Did That Naughty Bear Get So Naughty?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of January 2010 - 06:00 PM ]
I've bet you been wondering the same thing since hearing about this game haven't you? Haven't you? You have heard about this twisted teddy bear game right? Looks kind of like Fairy Tale Fights with a bit of upgraded 3D graphics and just the same amount of cuddly, twisted humor. You know. Naughty Bear! Well if you haven't, then here's a link for you. It will tell you how the game seems like a mixture of Manhunt and cuddly bears all wrapped into one awesome game. Read More...

CES 2010: BioShock 2 Multiplayer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of January 2010 - 12:08 AM ]
At this year's CES in Las Vegas, NV there was loads to show off in terms of hardware. At least as gaming consoles and gaming computers go. But what about some of the software that was shown for all of us gamers? Like a real hands on with the multiplayer of BioShock 2. Not just spiffy videos. Well this was one of the games that was being showcased for all who attended and found there way out to the IGN and Sprint trucks hidden in front of the convention. Let me start off, as I usually do when it comes to multiplayer, not a big fan of it. In fact with this title, I was loathing the fact it was having multiplayer added as it generally ruins the single player game. Read More...

Tom Clancy & Friends On Demand
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 13th of January 2010 - 05:13 PM ]
It looks like the two games next up for the Games on Demand treatment are, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and Kane&Lynch: Dead Men. I find it funny that with both game descriptions they more or less end with "no refunds are available for this item." It adds a deeper level to the game description for some reason. Try and read them in the same way you would the game description, envision the music for each. It's epic isn't it? Read More...

Dark Void Demo Impressions
by Kevin [ Thursday, 7th of January 2010 - 01:24 PM ]
The sci-fi action-adventure Dark Void demo has dropped today for the Xbox 360 and will be following on the PSN tomorrow. With the demo you get the chance to take that jetpack for a spin, and engage in some aerial and on-foot combat. It is supposed to serve to wet the appetite for the games' January 19th release date. With some unique gameplay elements like vertical cover, I've been looking forward to taking this title for a test drive. The press release speaks with some glowing words of course, "With the launch of Capcom’s sci-fi shooter, Dark Void, right around the corner, Capcom is giving gamers a chance to test drive the void for themselves this week with a downloadable demo coming to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. Steam Achievements Added to Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 23rd of December 2009 - 04:35 PM ]
We, as humans, are a competitive, goal-oriented species.  The category of humans known as gamers are characteristically more so.  So when little goals outside of the main game play were created on platforms this console generation (Achievements on Xbox 360 and Steam, trophies on the PS3), gamers took to them with a ferocity only matched by the public's outrage to the release of Coke 2.  The obsession with achievements has grown to the point that people will go out of their way to grind away for hours, simply to have the tiny extrinsic award.  As a bit of an afterthought and most likely a reward to the fans, last week Runic Games released over 60 achievements that may be earned on Steam for their critically acclaimed action-RPG Torchlight. Nintendo and Xbox want to Monitor your health
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 22nd of December 2009 - 03:14 AM ]
Ever wonder what it would be like to hook yourself up to your Xbox or Nintendo Wii and have it monitor certain vitality signs, use the data to change your avatar accordingly, or tell you what your feeling during certain points of a video game. Imagine status updates but from your internal Biology, take that Facebook!Microsoft recently patented tracking of players physical characteristics and converting that information to reflect on your avatar.  Of course a third party device would have to be created first, but Microsoft would pick up all the info and beam it into your Xbox Live account, making your Avatar look more like you. Aggro Attractions: Games Coming Soon
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 15th of December 2009 - 04:10 PM ]
A lot of people were disappointed by the recent Video Game Awards held on Spike TV, and in most cases the disappointment is very much deserved. Although the award ceremony was filled with professionals and had some fantastic exclusives to premier, it still comes off as very much forced and not at all exciting. Fortunately, for the gaming audience there were some great trailers shown. As Binh said in a great article that covered the results of the show, the true stars were the trailers. Read More...
