Follow The Yellow Brick Road
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 16th of September 2009 - 09:50 PM ]
Sometimes you find a game that really doesn't get much recognition, but it looks innovative and graphically impressive at the same time. The Wizard of Oz: Beyond The Yellow Brick Road is just that. Media Vision, producers of the Wild Arms series, is bringing this Japanese released title "RIZ-ZOWAD" to north American retailers on September 29th 2009. The Wizard of Oz is a turn based RPG title following the adventures of the Dorothy, Toto, Tin-man, Scarecrow, and Lion. I'm sure we all know the story, but this game is sure to twist it around and make it it's own. Read More...

Have I Got A Story For You
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 04:26 PM ]
It is the job of trailers to get people excited about the product coming out. It's generally short version of the awesome that is in store for you when you get the full version. That or a small release of information that makes you look at the product and say, "Well shit the bed! That is awesome!" Something that they new Character Trailer for 2K Games and Gearbox Software's upcoming game Borderlands. I will admit that this game was a very small blip on my radar. I won't lie like those sites that review games with out playing them. Read More...

Nintendo DLC for the Week of 8/24
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 24th of August 2009 - 10:17 PM ]
For the first time in more than a few weeks, Nintendo's weekly release of downloadable content (DLC) has spiked my interest. Believe me, this is for just more than a Star Wars game. Though I cannot play it myself, as I do not own a DSi, it finally looks like someone may have released a game on the DSiWare service that may be worth the DSi Points spent. Pop+ Solo for 500 DSi Points, from the screens and videos, looks like an excellent bite-size value for $5. Small and portable, the game fits into the kind of lifestyle you would expect from a DSiWare game you would always have on hand. Read More...

Flight or Firefight
by Kevin [ Friday, 21st of August 2009 - 02:57 AM ]
You could potentially get your hands on the new Firefight mode from one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Bungie, Microsoft, and Gamestop have joined into an unholy alliance and are presenting a Halo 3: ODST Transport vehicle that will be making stops at GameStops all across the US, giving lucky folks a go with the title. Major Nelson via his blog, dropped the dates for the tour, and hopefully one of them are going to be close to you - if you are interested, that is: Halo 3: ODST Transport Vehicle Stops City Location Date Seattle (Redmond, WA) Redmond Town Center 8/22 Portland (Hillsboro, OR) Tanasbourne Town Center 8/23 San Francisco (Union City, CA) Union Landing 8/25 San Jose (Antioch, CA) Center At Slatten Ranch 8/26 Los Angeles (Pasadena, CA) Hastings Village 8/28 San Diego, CA Carmel Mt. Review: Madden NFL 10
by Ben Brody [ Thursday, 13th of August 2009 - 10:34 PM ]
EA Sports's Madden NFL 10. The Best Madden Ever In years past (especially between 02 and 08) the annual Madden has been seen as somewhat of a roster update, however, Madden NFL 10 is something I've not experienced before: an ultra good looking, ultra realistic football game. Madden NFL 09 was a step in the right direction, with better graphics and new animations, however Madden 10 is a giant leap in the right direction, such a big leap it may have just landed where it needed to be. In years past, Madden has been hampered by a lack-luster graphics system that was essentially a beefed up PS2 engine. Textures were hi-res and the detail was there, however player models and the overall stadium experience was still fairly sixth generation. Read More...

Nintendo DLC for 8/10: Fly, Climb, Think and use the Force
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 04:11 PM ]
Every Monday I look forward to Nintendo's release of WiiWare, Virtual Console and DSiWare titles. I might be the only one now. In the recent weeks, the pickings have been mighty slim. So slim in fact, I feel sorry for people who purchased a DSi in hopes of purchasing and downloading quality software over the DSiWare Channel. I had thought to make a weekly column based on the Big N's DLC, but when a decent release only occurs once a month, there isn't much to report. I would like to write that everything this week is stellar, but that just isn't true. Read More...

In need of a new RTS game before Starcraft II? Need some awesome online play? In that case, I recommend League of Legends: Clash of Fates. Did I mention it's free? Wolfenstein to Sponsor Premiere of Inglorious Basterds
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 28th of July 2009 - 10:36 PM ]
Who better to sponsor a premiere of a movie about killing Nazis than a video game franchise that wrote the book on killing Nazis?  Today, Activision and id Software announced the sponsorship of the "Inglorious Basterds" premiere by the also soon-to-be-released Wolfenstein.  Also included is a contest in conjunction with GameStop with a prize that includes airfare, accommodations, tickets to the premiere and admission to the after-party.  The contest begins today and must be really short considering the premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater is August 10.  I shouldn't really encourage you to sign up for the contest as I have visions of sitting next to Diane Kruger. DSi and Wii Ware Releases for 7/20/09
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 03:21 PM ]
Wii Ware as a platform has lead a dubious life since its inception a little over a year ago.  There have been the occasional hits like Lost Winds and World of Goo, but those are the exception rather than the rule to titles like Family Pirate Party and Pong Toss! Frat Party Games.  With over 100 titles and with more misses than hits, many have speculated that the Wii Ware platform would be killed off unceremoniously, much like someone gets played off-stage at the Oscar's.  Well let me tell you something: they may not have the wrong idea! This week, both DSi Ware and Wii Ware received puzzle games with Art Style: Zengage and 5 Spots Party, respectively. Movie Games Gone Wild
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 20th of July 2009 - 05:44 PM ]
WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND LEGENDARY PICTURES PRESENT WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Seems like a late announcement, but it was one that could easily be figured to have been made. Since most films nowadays get their own video game either based off or completely on the film in question. Why would there be any difference for Warner Bros. Where The Wild Things Are? So far they have yet to miss a game based on their films this year. Read More...

Kratos Coming to Comics
by Jesse [ Friday, 17th of July 2009 - 11:36 PM ]
Video games being adapted to comic book form is a natural fit. So it is probably not a surprise to hear that another one is coming down the line. But now, arguably Sony’s biggest franchise, will join the likes of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil. Partnering with DC and Wildstorm, Sony’s blockbuster God of War video game franchise is the inspiration for an all new 6-issue mini series. The first issue is tentatively scheduled to debut in October with a run that should last roughly until the release of God of War III in March of 2010. Handling the project is comics legend Marv Wolfman. Read More...

PSP Gets You Mysty Eyed
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of July 2009 - 10:13 PM ]
Myst is Finally Coming to PSP Some interesting news for this week's PSN releases. It looks like this week PSP owners will have a chance to download and play the popular PC puzzler Myst on their PSPs. Play it with out having to mod or hack the system to get it on there to boot. If you haven't already or picked up the title for your iPhone or other application ready system. Something interesting about this is that it is slated to be the original game as the PC, except that it will include the stuff that was cut from the original release. Yes that sounds backwards. E3 Hands-On Impressions of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 6th of June 2009 - 09:25 AM ]
Cooks, mathematicians and sports teams all employ a powerful weapon to achieve success in their chosen fields: formulas.  Much will be said from E3 2009 and beyond until well after the launch of the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.  A lot of it will probably not be flattering.  Nintendo has found a graphical and stylistic formula on the Nintendo DS that is both successful and fun.At Nintendo’s booth this year at E3, I was able to avoid the long wait times associated with playing an anticipated title like The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and go hands-on for the entire demo.  The demo was split into 3 parts: Dungeon, Boss and Train. E3 Hands On Impressions - DC Universe Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 4th of June 2009 - 08:06 AM ]
DC Universe Online Hands On We've seen the screen shots. We've seen the video clips. But at E3, there was the chance to actually get some hands on with the game and take it for a pre-beta joy ride. I also got to sit down with one of the designers for the game to get a little more on the game that has yet to be released through their MySpace account or any official press releases. I will say that I wish I could have played around with the character creation tool a bit, but they did have some of the network play up and going. Well network play as in between PS3 and PC and not over the PSN. Read More...
