Blizzard Suspending Use Of Real Names In Their Forums
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 12th of July 2010 - 04:21 PM ]
A heated debate has been going on in the Blizzard community lately over a new concept called Real ID. Blizzard understandably annoyed with the sheer volume of trolling and flaming going on in their forums, originally decided to require real names with forum posts. After a community uproar, they have resolved to postpone the use of real names. I clearly am proof of using your real name online will not prevent someone from spewing vitriol and being an internet troll (just read any post I've written about Nintendo). Instead of enacting an instant update Blizzard will still be phasing in its use of the RealID system, just not until Starcraft II and subsequently World of Warcraft: Cataclysm crawl out of our dreams and into our local game retailer's shelves. Review: Deathsmiles
by Michael Camacho [ Thursday, 8th of July 2010 - 05:04 PM ]
Fans of the SHMUP (Shoot 'em up) genre in the U.S. have always had a hard time in recent console generations finding easy access to titles without importing them from Japan. Thankfully, Aksys Games is trying to reverse that trend. Aksys has released their first SHMUP in the U.S. with Deathsmiles. On the development side is Cave, one of Japan's best SHMUP developers. Deathsmiles is a horizontal, side-scrolling, bullet hell SHMUP. It features young girls in Gothic Lolita outfits fighting against monsters to stop Jitterbug from opening a portal. Read More...

Let's Do Some More Testing
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 7th of July 2010 - 10:17 PM ]
In case you didn't get enough of the For-PSN-Only reality show The Tester, it was officially announced at E3 that Sony is doing a second season. Not exactly a big surprise, it was slipped into the other PlayStation news as just another bullet point. I mean, all the PS3 fans and users had to figure it was coming as it made some of the largest draws into PS Home and on the PS Store. This is not what this article is all about. Just after the 4th of July, voting began for contestants to get a chance to move onto the second round of the casting process. Read More...

Aperture Science Has Ramped Up The Tests
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 4th of July 2010 - 06:17 PM ]
I remember way back when I first cracked open my copy of Portal on my PC. Yes I cracked open a copy of a digital download, because it fits my nostalgia. I remember enjoying each level of the game that lead up to the big showdown with GLaDOS and finding out that the cake was indeed not a lie. I got a piece when I was done and it was delicious and easy to wash down. I also remember how much fun it was that the whole game was kept simple and each level was pretty much a tutorial leading up to the final showdown. If you disagree, then you have not truly played Portal. Read More...

I'm Getting A Call From Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 11:47 PM ]
With all the hulabaloo from E3, I almost lost sight of one of this year's titles that I have personally been excited for. That game being Naughty Bear. Yes I did get some hands on, but it looks like the little bugger tried slipping a few new clips and a trailer past me before I could take a look at them to ensure my rules have not been further plagiarized. Wait, three new videos? You cheeky monkey. Read More...

E3 2010 Impressions: Dead Space 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of June 2010 - 08:51 PM ]
Hidden in the back corner, deep within the confines of the EA booth was a small Church of Unitology. Within the church was a plethora of wooden pews with "hymn" books placed before them. As we were ushered in, the electronic candles dimmed and we were greeted with a short introduction. Pleasantries dispatched, we hopped right into the game play of Dead Space 2. Now from watching the EA and Sony press conferences, you may be thinking that you have already received all the visual goodness Visceral Games had to show for Dead Space 2. Well, you are pretty much correct, at least as far as content is concerned. Read More...

Review: Alien Breed Impact
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 22nd of June 2010 - 10:53 PM ]
Alien Breed: Impact is a nostalgic nod to the classic top down arcade style shooter. Players take on the role of Conrad, a systems engineer who when it comes to weapons is a jack of all trades. If it shoots, blows something up or catches something on fire, you can bet that good ol' Conrad knows how to use it. Your ship is under attack by a swarm of Aliens and you will delve deep into the ship shooting anything that moves in an attempt to regain control. To keep things moving, at the beginning of every level you receive a cut-scene in the comic-book panel format filling you in on the story, along with full voice overs by individual characters. E3 2010 Hands-On: Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 19th of June 2010 - 09:01 PM ]
There is no doubt in anyone's mind that I am extremely excited to play Naughty Bear. Partially to see how many other rules from the book How To Be More Like Hades™ are in the game. Also partially because it looks like it will be a laugh riot to force teddy bears to do unspeakable things to each other. Well at E3 I was able to catch up to 505 Games and take a look at how Naughty Bear's game has progressed, since it does come out in a few weeks. The quick version, it is exactly the game I thought it was going to be and it will be amazing. Read More...

Dreamcast Coming to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 16th of June 2010 - 05:56 PM ]
The Dreamcast is making a comeback and this time it's not in console form. Sega's last console attempt is getting ready to release two of it's popular titles: Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventures on the PlayStation Network and XBox Live Arcade this fall. The titles will get the usual treatment and advantages for being on PSN and XBLA, so expect Achievements/Trophies and much better HD visuals. Sega is planning on porting more titles in the coming months in conjunction with the 11th anniversary of Dreamcast's launch (has it been that long?). Read More...

E3 2010: Stock full of Trailers
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 16th of June 2010 - 03:39 PM ]
So apparently, waiting was not on the agenda in the days prior to E3 opening.  What I mean by that is just the other day on Spike TV - they had their pre-E3 show where they showed a lot of the new trailers that previously, we would have had to wait until the actual show to see these trailers. But since we all live on the Internet, instant gratification is all we have time for anymore. So here you guys go with bunch of trailers of Socom 4, Killzone 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Dead Space 2, Devils Third, Gran Turismo 5 and Shank. Hope you all enjoy. Read More...

So How Is Gears Of War 3 Looking These Days
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 14th of June 2010 - 12:31 AM ]
Something we have all been thinking since the announcement back in April. Yea there have been a few shots before, but here we go with a few more. A few more that are extremely stunning and blood filled. Nothing to the level of Splatterhouse in terms of blood and gore, but still. I will have to say that things are looking to progressing very well. At least in the graphics department. Which is really all we get to see as of right now, unless we want to make up a story based on these screen. Read More...

Who Is The King Of Naughtiness?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of June 2010 - 10:53 PM ]
I would say I am, with my book having over 18,000 ways to be naughty and generally lash out at the filth of the world. But runner up I will have to tip my hat to Naughty Bear. Although there has been some controversy over the rules in his Book Of Naughty™, Naughty Bear at least lives up to his book unlike all the posers out there that say they follow the Book of Naughty™ or the Guide To Being More Like Hades™. For those out there that want to even have an snow flake's chance in Hephaestus' forge at keeping up with the two of us, let me show you a nice video from Naughty Bear. A video showing how to follow his book and try to get to our level of "Naughtitude. Read More...
