Nico + Ryu + The Force x Zombies = Platinum
by Kevin [ Thursday, 8th of October 2009 - 08:25 PM ]
That's a heck of a visual isn't it? GTA IV, Street Fighter IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleased, Left 4 Dead, and Saints Row 2 are the latest candidates for the Platinum Hits treatment. A nice line-up to be certain and a great opportunity to jump aboard and experience these titles if you haven't done so already. It seems like the titles were chosen pretty strategically because with several of the games you have either had a) new content announced and coming soon, b) new content released, or c) sequels approaching. In celebration of these latest additions to the Platinum Hits Collection line-up, some retailers are offering a “Buy 2 –Get 1 Free” promotion for XBox Platinum Hits Collection titles. Read More...

Review: Dead Space Extraction
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 5th of October 2009 - 07:42 PM ]
It all started just a little under a year ago. The exploration of terror in space in a nice little title called Dead Space. A game that I reviewed as my game of the year last year. A game that I deemed brought back those feelings of the first time you cracked open Resident Evil on the PlayStation. Just like RE you were left with loads of questions and left wanting more. Now along comes Dead Space: Extraction. Dead Space: Extraction lets players roll through all the events that lead up to Isaac and crew rolling through the USG Ishimura in fear of getting back off with their lives physically and mentally stable. Play Baseball In Left 4 Dead 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 3rd of October 2009 - 02:14 AM ]
Yes there is a plethora of weapons available in Left 4 Dead 2. Axes, Chainsaws, and Guns oh my! But what if you just want to bludgeon zombies with a good, old reliable American baseball bat? Not many options for that. Oh wait, I take that back. There is now. If you pre-order the game before the 27th of October, you will be able to get an exclusive baseball bat weapon for the game. Not only that, but you will also get early access to the demo as well as a nice little 10% discount on the full purchase. To go even further, you don't have to go through GameStop or Best Buy for these little extras. Read More...

Valve Releases Free Crash Course DLC
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 30th of September 2009 - 03:36 AM ]
Today Valve released Crash Course, the next big free* DLC for their immensely popular Left4Dead franchise. Ben went into what it's all about back here, but the the gist is that between No Mercy and Death Toll, the helicopter that rescued you on top of the hospital went down and now our survivors are no longer safe. They must keep moving to stay alive. On top of the co-operative and survival modes for this campaign the versus mode includes a 30-minute limit to speed things along. Read More...

Extracting More Images Of Fear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 29th of September 2009 - 02:20 PM ]
Dead Space: Extraction comes out this week on the Wii. This Tuesday to be exact. On a system that the core game was never on, only rumored about being on. But at least it is on a system that is made perfectly for a rail-shooter style of game. As the Resident Evil franchise has shown in the past and in the not too far off future. But that is not to say that the visuals are not going to be geared up to shock and instill horror in the minds of its players. In fact, here are a bunch of shots from the game and concepts to prove that point. Read More...

Terror Is Reality XVIII
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of September 2009 - 10:49 PM ]
Yet another game that has had the Multiplayer mode stapled to it. You all know how I feel about that. But this time it looks like Capcom has done it in a way that could overly help with the game instead of detract. At least as story goes. It looks like what they have done is taken the survivors of the zombie plague and had them do what was done in Land of the Dead, Human on Zombie death matches. Maybe Thunder Dome with Humans vs. Zombies. Read More...

Left4Dead gets new DLC
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 4th of August 2009 - 09:33 PM ]
Left4Dead gets a new expansion this September with "Crash Course", a whole new campaign that connects the end of No Mercy with the beginning of Death Toll. Of all the endings, No Mercy was perhaps the most ambiguous, as how far and where would the helicopter would land. The beginning to Death Toll, which is just as ambiguous, finds our four survivors before a collapsed bridge and a tunnel chock-full-o'-zombies. While it may not give as much story as Left4Dead 2, it certainly hints at the fact that Valve isn't willing to drop development of it's first iteration. Along with the campaign will be a versus version and several survival maps full of glitches waiting to be exploited. Read More...

Play Left4Dead 2 At San Diego Comic Con
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 13th of July 2009 - 07:41 PM ]
Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on the release timing issue of Left4Dead 2, if you are going to San Diego Comic Con, you will want to jump on this. Valve will be showing Left4Dead 2 at Comic Con, as well as make it playable. At E3 they showed us "The Parish." This time around they plan on demonstrating a new campaign ("Swamp Fever") along with some never-before-seen items. After seeing Left4Dead 2 at E3 and going hands-on, I am already extremely hyped on the game and encourage everyone at SDCC to stop by the EA Gaming Lounge in the Gaslamp Hotel and try it out. If for nothing else, get your hands on some melee weapons and hack up some zombies. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 7th of July 2009 - 05:15 PM ]
Possible Cross-Game Play For Left 4 Dead Once again, yesterday there was a nice little bit thrown out for us gamers to consume as the zombies of Left 4 Dead 2 are want to to. The details on the demo for the game if you didn't catch it yesterday. But now today there is some more good news for the Left 4 Dead franchise. Possible cross-game play. What is that, you might be thinking? Read More...

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Ultimate Character Reveal (Deadpool)
by Jesse [ Tuesday, 7th of July 2009 - 03:19 PM ]
There’s a reason they call Deadpool the “Merc with a Mouth”, the guy literally never shuts up, even when his head has been removed from the rest of his body. He is by far the most insane character in comics which makes it a little hard to believe any one of his possible backstories. Generally it is known that he was born to a father who served in the United States Army eventually rising to the rank of general. His mother had died due to a terminal illness when Deadpool, real name Wade Wilson, was a young boy. Wade joined the army when he was older enlisting with the Special Forces. Read More...

Early Zombie Plans
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 6th of July 2009 - 07:43 PM ]
L4D2 Multiplayer Demo Wanna get to play Left 4 Dead 2 a little early? Well at least the Multiplayer aspect of the game, as if there is any other form of the game. I jest. But in any instance, Valve has a way for you to get your hands on the game a few weeks before the full launch on the 17th of November this year. It is another to contrite either and for both console and PC versions of the game. How? Read More...

*UPDATE* Left 4 Dead 2 for the PS3?
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 21st of June 2009 - 04:04 PM ]
"But wait I thought Left 4 Dead was an XBox/PC exclusive and Valve is not a huge fan of the PS3?" You are correct on that view. At E3 when Valve announced that there will be a sequel for this zombie-fest of a game a lot of people were a bit surprised that Valve is releasing the sequel so quickly. But is the game also going to be appearing for the PS3? According to EA official website, not only did they list the game for the PS3 as a “Coming Soon”, but also a cover art for the PS3 version of the game. Read More...

E3 Impressions: Left 4 Dead 2
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 03:33 AM ]
Let's be honest, while it may be a little early to be talking sequel, all of us that played Left 4 Dead could bet the house that a second incarnation was certain. On November 17th, just 364 days after the first, Valve will release Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox 360 and PC. Left 4 Dead 2 takes place during the same zombie outbreak as the first game, but features a new pair of 4 survivors, Rochelle, Coach, Ellis, and Nick. While it wasn't quite clear what the new campaigns were apart from the fact that it will take place in the South US (the game starts in Savannah and ends in New Orleans), Scott Dalton, a level designer on the game, said that more of the story will be explored, including the reason for the outbreak. Valve made sure to fix many complaints of the original game, and tweaks are apparent during the demo. Read More...

Never Been a Better Time to Survive in '09
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 1st of May 2009 - 07:32 PM ]
The best co-op game I played last year was Left4Dead and if you were among the few PC gamers that did not purchase this title, this is the perfect opportunity for you to try it, then buy it.  All day Friday, you are able to download Left4Dead on Steam and play the entire game including the recently released Survival mode.  After you try and fall in love with the game (as I know you will), you have all weekend to purchase it through Steam at 40% off.   Left4Dead is a cooperative experience where four players are challenged through an array of campaigns attempting to escape the zombie apocalypse and make it safety.
