Activision To Release A New Call Of Duty, More Talk Of Project Beachhead
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 11th of May 2011 - 03:54 PM ]
Monday brought a lot of long awaited, if not expected, news for the Activision Blizzard team. One important bit of news was a new Call of Duty title that would be released before the end of this year. With Call Of Duty: Black Ops the number one selling game in the US and Europe for the past three months, it's no surprise that Activision is going all in with this one. It's a safe bet that another CoD will sell just as well if not better than its predecessors. "This year's Call Of Duty initiatives will result in the best Call Of Duty experiences we have created to date," Kotick said. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of February 2011 - 04:45 PM ]
Well this was unexpected and really early this year. Blizzard announced Blizzcon 2011 with the least amount of details, just a date, time and place. Honestly this is the earliest Blizzard has ever announced this event, hell were still getting over the last one that was less than four months ago. Here's what we know. It will be from October 21st to October 22nd at the Anaheim convention center in California. It will have all the titles from Warcraft, Starcraft to Diablo. Read More...

Hello And Goodbye To The World Of Starcraft?
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 19th of January 2011 - 10:11 PM ]
Probably the coolest thing I saw this week was a video presentation for World of Starcraft! This whole video is done in the Starcraft 2 map editor and although it's in pre-pre-alpha it is something to watch. Check out the video after the jump! Now to answer your big question. No this is not Blizzard's official next gen MMO. Nor is it a secret leak for Titan. It's just modders doing what they do best. Read More...

Review: World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 30th of December 2010 - 06:51 PM ]
Blizzard's World of Warcraft is the current definitive MMO. With six years of collected content, twelve million players, and three expansions, it doesn't look like WoW is going anywhere soon. Blizzard had built an empire, but to strengthen the empire's walls, it would have to rebuild itself from the inside out. For the past six years, in order for a player to reach the cap level of 80, players had to grind through some of the most grueling quests we've seen since Everquest. Kill, collect, rinse, repeat, this was the old scenario until Wrath of the Lich King. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 15th of December 2010 - 04:51 PM ]
Looks like Blizzard did it again. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the latest expansion in the World of Warcraft series sold 3.3 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release. This number includes digital sales as well as in-store bought copies. Cataclysm not only rocked the world of Azeroth but also shattered its previous records. Blizzard out sold its previous expansion Wrath of the Lich King sales of 2.8 million and its Starcraft 2 July release sales of 1. Read More...

The Shattering Is Upon Us And I Blame The Gnomes
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 24th of November 2010 - 04:43 AM ]
It's been six years to the day since the original release of World of Warcraft and how does Blizzard celebrate? By destroying the old world of Azeroth compliments of a big angry dragon made of fire and metal. According to a forum post by moderator Zaryhm the latest patch 4.0.3a has gone live on servers today thus changing the way denizens of Azeroth have adventured for years. The cinematic below is the same that you will see when you first login to your account, so if you haven't seen it (doubtful), or don't want to spoil it (your call) don't watch it! Let's take a quick look at what this new patch is actually brought today. Read More...

Blizzcon 2010 In A Nutshell
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 25th of October 2010 - 10:16 PM ]
Here we are, the day after the most anticipated weekend of conventions, Blizzcon. For your typical Blizzcon, it seemed they didn't have any major announcements this year. No Diablo III release date. No word on their new MMO (World of Jersey Shorecraft??) but I will say the cosplay contest was probably the best I've seen so far. Chris Metzen hosted this year's keynote, and after some Blizzard buffs, we broke into a steady run of news beginning with the next WoW expansion. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be on sale December 7th, and for those that don't want to wait in line at midnight, players can buy and download directly from the website in advance. Read More...

Blizzcon is over and that means news. Everyone including myself was expecting a release date for Diablo III, but instead we got a reveal of the 5th class called the Demon Hunter. The Demon Hunter is a dual crossbow wielding, bola throwing, walking ball of destruction. Check out the Trailer below, as well as a look at some of the game play. I'll let the videos speak from themselves. Here's a video of the Demon Hunter in action. Read More...

Blizzcon's Closing Ceremonies Will Melt Faces
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 12th of October 2010 - 04:02 PM ]
Blizzcon is notorious for their closing ceremonies, and 2010 will be no different. With performances by The Offspring, Patton Oswalt and the prince of darkness himself Ozzy Osbourne, the closing ceremonies have talked about around the world. Not to mention Blizzard has their in house band "The Artists Formerly Known as Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain" who always put on an awesome show. Well it's 2010 and Blizzard has announced that they will be bringing us the band that has soared on the wings of demons, and battled the devil himself, but will probably just perform some sort of "tribute". Tenacious D (featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass) will be gracing the stage for the closing ceremonies. Read More...

Blizzard Officially Announces Cataclysm Release Date
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 4th of October 2010 - 03:07 PM ]
Blizzard finally graces us with the official announcement for the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclsym. I'm pretty sure everyone has figured it out by now, but it's nice to see that now it's "Official" and no longer simply speculation. Deathwing is coming and he's bringing a boat load of destruction with him. With an increase of the level cap to 85, two new races and a complete restructure of the old world, this is revving up to probably be the best expansion yet. So if you haven't already reserved your pre-order, digital download or time off from work on December 8th, you have plenty of time to make your arrangements and hit the ground running when the expansion comes out. Diablo III Looks Healthy
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 14th of September 2010 - 03:59 PM ]
The Diablo III website was just updated recently with some info about Health in game. Now I know what you're all saying, "We know how health works, kill baddies, pick up orbs and regain health." While this mechanic remains true, we do get a few more details on boss encounters and strategies pertaining to gaining health throughout Sanctuary. Major boss fights make unique use of health globes. Each boss battle includes a custom-designed means of utilizing these globes to regain health. Read More...

Review: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 27th of August 2010 - 04:15 PM ]
Starcraft II has been out for almost a month now and Binh and I finally had an opportunity to sit down and really get into the game. All we can tell you is that if you haven't had a chance to pick up the title, you need to go out and do so right now. We should state that this review is going to be mainly about the campaign mode because the multiplayer is worthy of a whole review in itself. (I am locking myself in a closet and playing multiplayer until my eyes bleed Zerg Blood.) Let Binh and I break it down for you. Read More...
