I will be one of the first people to admit that I have remained skeptical on the PlayStation Vita - even after putting hands on to the high-end handheld at E3 2011. The announced price point of $250 for the wi-fi version wasn't even enough to convince me. Then compounded on that the decrease in sales in the Japanese market after launch, I was beginning to believe that I would be definitely passing on the Vita. Hopefully it is no big surprise that Sony has the third season of The Tester under its belt. I'm sure most of you gamers out there saw floods of tweets, wall posts and whatever other method of online social interaction to get votes to be on the show. A couple new trailers for Eat Sleep Play's Twisted Metal have been released, one featuring my favorite character, Mr. Grimm and the other featuring Dollface. The trailers showcase a little bit of each characters back story, a hefty dose of heavy metal and some sweet, sweet game play. I grew up playing the original Twisted Metal games, so seeing one of my favorite childhood franchises come back guns blazing in a hail of fire and bullets makes me crack a smile across my face, ear to ear. The first trailer is Mr. Grimm, who is a different person from the last installment (Twisted Metal: Black) but is just as cool, showing us some of his signature weapons like the "Flame Saw" which is an exploding chainsaw that has been grinding on the concrete for a few hundred feet. So it looks like Naughty Dog is working on another new IP to try and move away from being stuck in the "We make Uncharted and Jax" slump they've been in for the decade. I mean really who wants to be known for making those games right? I jest and am happy to hear that the studio is going to try something new for themselves and move away from churning out sequels. Looks like Sony took the time to answer that question for us in their latest promotional video for the Long Live Play campaign. Looks like they do and they are supposed to be. Sackboy I'm looking at you. Tsk tsk tsk… This is a rather interesting and awesome addition to things though. Especially since everyone in there is not a PlayStation exclusive even though it is stacked that way a bit. I will say that some of their choices for actors is a little odd or at least make the characters look odd. Kratos for one just looks wrong even though he looks to be the most CG'ed of the bunch. When I heard that Sony was going to bundle the two PSP God Of War titles, Chains Of Olympus and Ghost Of Sparta, for the PS3 I was a little upset. I already dropped the cash on these games for the PSP and the PS3 was already out. I thought then, why did they not just make these games on the PS3 and just make them downloadable or cheap disks? After seeing the below comparison, I am even more infuriated that I had to wait to get them in high definition and on my big screen at home. Well we've waited and wondered at what Sony had in store for the NGP and at the Sony Conference most of the details were revealed. We now have the PS Vita coming to stores in the not too distant future to snag our money and keep us gaming when not at home. It is hard to believe it has been almost four years since Heavenly Sword hit the PS3, but it has been. It was an amazing game even though its sales were not overwhelming. I'd blame that on the rocky launch of the PS3 and the titles that had been pushed out for said launch. Who'd want to waste $60 on a new IP made specifically for the infant system at the time. The Smithsonian Museum has recently released a list of the games that will be featured in their upcoming exhibition titled "The Art of Video Games" which will be running from March 16th 2012 to September 30th 2012. Some of the games featured are: Super Mario Bros. 3, Star Fox, BioShock, Fallout, and Diablo II. The exhibition will showcase the "evolution of video games as an artistic medium, from the Atari VSC to the PlayStation 3. Not only do we have a few shots of the Axel-like vehicle from Twisted Metal, but we also have a couple of game play clips of the multiplayer for the game. One kind of looks like the semi overtake races from Split/Second with a TM twist and the other a full arena style combat with a God Of War twist. At least that twist with all the spike traps and huge swinging spiked balls aimed to destroy your vehicle.
