EA announces Dead Space 2
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of December 2009 - 12:40 AM ]
EA announces today Dead Space 2... again.... formally this time....  That's right your favorite silent hero Isaac Clarke is making a comeback. Although certain people who will remain nameless *cough* Glenn Schofield *cough* have already mentioned back in October that Dead Space would be getting a sequel, it seems Visceral Games wanted an actual press release, just to make it all official and fancy.Visceral Games (Previously known as EA Redwood Shores) have much to say about the new title:“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey. The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. Read More...

Review: Assassin's Creed Bloodlines
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 2nd of December 2009 - 05:39 PM ]
As I was about to board my flight for the trip, I thought I might pick up something to help the trip go by faster. I understood that buying inside the airport usually meant higher prices, but I managed to find a reasonably priced PSP Assassin's Creed Bloodlines bundle, which came with the game, a Silver PSP-3000, a code redeemable for a DLC version of Angels and Demons, and a 2gb memory stick. Sure, I already had the PSP-1000 and I did know that the 3000's screens were crap at best, but I decided to get one anyhow seeing as that my launch unit's screen was fairly beaten up, scratched, and the fact that the audio only worked through the headphones as the speakers had found a way to stop working about 2 weeks before. Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed isn't new to the handheld world, Altair's Chronicles was released to the Nintendo DS and iPhone earlier, however this was the first time that they would try putting the full free-roam style gameplay on a handheld. The Week in Nintendo
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 1st of December 2009 - 05:18 PM ]
After a nice long coma from all the turkey I have eaten, I am back to bring you this week's Nintendo Download. While you are out shopping or in front of your televisions, Nintendo brings you 10 downloadable games to make sure you have one hell of a Christmas, or the start of one hell of a Christmas. First is Chapter 4 in Tales of Monkey Island for Wiiware, along with a few other titles. The DSiWare is serving up some magic with PopCap's popular title Bookworm and EA’s Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes. Read More...

Mass We Pray is the 6th circle of Hell
by Corey Dockendorf [ Sunday, 22nd of November 2009 - 03:30 AM ]
Dante's Inferno has been this year's king of the publicity stunts. If you've been keeping up with gaming news this year, you would have seen Christians petitioning Dante's Inferno at E3, EA offering a "night of sin with 2 hot girls" during Comic-Con 09, and finally there was that little business of $200 being sent to game reviewers in skeleton covered boxes. Well Dante's Inferno is at it again this time with a website that would scare the life out of any gamer. Mass We Pray is the latest edition to the Dante's Inferno marketing campaign: A family shouldn’t have to wait until Sunday to worship the Lord. Read More...

Review: Assassin's Creed 2
by Ben Brody [ Saturday, 21st of November 2009 - 11:07 PM ]
Assassin's Creed had very few pitfalls: a repetitive story mode, inability to swim, and repetitive animations. AC2 fixes all these issues, and more. When Ubisoft came out with AC, it was the only gun-free, action oriented, free roam game, and up until AC2, it stayed that way. It was a risky move on their part in a predominately FPS dominated world. It paid off and did more than justify a sequel. In a world of gun oriented, short single player mode, multiplayer based games, AC2 isn't, and it is just as awesome as any other game out there. Read More...

Call of Duty: The Numbers Game
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 18th of November 2009 - 11:49 PM ]
Are you tired of reading all the reviews for Modern Warfare 2? Or listening to every gaming podcast giving the game high marks? Well how about we throw some numbers at you and see if you think Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is worthy of this year's Game of the Year. Activision Blizzard, Inc (Nasdaq: ATVI) has announced today that Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 brought in approximately $550 million dollars in the first five-day worldwide. This makes it the largest entertainment launch in history. How about we look at more numbers for the first five-day entertainment records, including box office, book and other video game sales. So What Is The Story With Dante's Inferno?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 16th of November 2009 - 11:32 PM ]
With the slew of promotions EA and Visceral Games are doing for this game, (Greedy Checks, Rick Rolling Boxes), what is the actual story behind the game? We all know that it is a loose translation of the famous epic poem The Divine Comedy. You know, the first "mapping" of Hell and in turn leading to a man's persecution, but what is the actual story trying to be told in this throw at the poem? Well our friends over at GameTrailers, and in turn EA and Visceral, have put together a nice little short clip of why Dante is going to Hell. It also shows off a bit of the game as well as some pretty cool quotes from literature to mix it all well. Read More...

Review: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 13th of November 2009 - 03:33 AM ]
As I looked at the massive amount of people at my local GameStop that were in line to pickup MW2, it dawned on me, this is the biggest, most anticipated, and what could be the best selling action game of all time. Over 300 people were standing in the cold for some four hours waiting for the same thing. Many of them planned on calling in sick the next day or skipping out on school just to get some playtime in. Many people were reminiscing about COD4 or saying how they played a bunch of COD4 to get psyched up about MW2. Read More...

Dante To Crash The Gates Of Hell Early
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 11:53 PM ]
So just in case you needed a good intro to your mid-term or final paper on The Divine Comedy, EA and Visceral Games are going to help you out. How? By giving you the events Dante Alighieri had to go through to get into hell so he could make that google map he did. All in Demo form for your chosen system of PS3, XBox, or PSP. Ok, so this won't actually help any of you getting ready for your final stuff in December, but it will give you a nice way to relax after writing said paper. Or a distraction and a good view and feel for the game. Read More...

Visceral Games Is Full Of Heretics And Baby Killers
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 06:32 PM ]
I have been called some bad things in the past, as recent as nine minutes ago. I've received hate letters based on my thoughts and opinions all the time. So it should probably go without saying that the people over at Visceral Games and the inferno team at EA get hit with this just about at often because of Dante's Inferno. Christians are probably going even crazier knowing they have been used for promotions as much as Rick Astley has been on the internet for jokes. But I digress. Read More...

Is Digital Distribution the Future?
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 10th of November 2009 - 02:51 AM ]
It's fairly safe that we can all assume that the future of movies and game sales is digital distribution. How long the duration will be for it to take over is anybody's guess. It will be more determined by the willingness of people to download a game as opposed to having a physical copy than anything else. Delivery systems like GameTap, Direct2Drive and most notably Steam, have been digitally distributing PC games for years and have been met with success. It seems as though PC players are more willing to buy digital distribution than their console counterparts -- maybe because it's been available longer and they feel more comfortable with it or maybe it's because they don't care about having a physical copy since they can not trade it in anyhow. More Modern Warfare 2 PC Woes
by Ben Brody [ Friday, 6th of November 2009 - 01:34 PM ]
The bad gets worse. PC gamers have often been on the short end of the stick on gaming for awhile now except for one thing: Multiplayer. Mods, dedicated servers, better clan support, and VOIP programs like Ventrilo and Teamspeak usually make the PC multiplayer experience better than their console counterparts. Modern Warfare 2, which is poised to be the best selling FPS of all time, is only full of disappointments to the PC crowd unfortunately.Dedicated servers have already been taken away from the PC version and now comes more. Tom Clancy Presents... More Ways To Take Your Money
by Kevin [ Thursday, 5th of November 2009 - 02:20 AM ]
Ubisoft isn't satisfied with having several high profile titles on the way, nor are they satisfied with simply releasing a game like Splinter Cell: Conviction - no, they key is releasing an edition with such an amount of assuredly irresistible goodness that you can't help buy commit heart and soul to the product. Is that the case here? Take a look. Read More...
