Brütal Metal Achievements
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 27th of August 2009 - 09:00 PM ]
I Got A Car And A Date. Some Chicks N' Booze N' Stuff. Then I Ran To The Hills. All for some Hair Remover, and Now You Must Tell The Tale. All to rock out and be Six Degrees Of Schafer. Now I am a Rock God! Oh snap! Ok, no you don't, but I thought it a fun way to work some of these fun and metal achievement/trophy names into this. This being the official list of the Achievement and Trophies you will be able to collect this coming October Rocktober in Brütal Legend. For a game that was originally designed to be a multiplayer RTS, you would have expected to find more of the multiplayer stuff as trophies too. Read More...

20 Years: Sega Genesis Remembered
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 14th of August 2009 - 10:03 PM ]
Today is the 20th Anniversary of the launch of the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) here in North America. I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of articles on the birth and rise of the Genesis, its bitter fight against Nintendo and the eventual downfall with the addition of the Sega CD and the 32X. Most of them are tongue-in-cheek, which is unfortunate. Here is a humble recollection of a console that I never owned until recently. After my parents bought me an Atari 2600 when I was born, the next console I got was the PlayStation 2 I bought myself just after college. Read More...

Röckin' Gööd Time!
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 9th of August 2009 - 09:57 PM ]
With the release of Brütal Legend getting closer and closer everyday, I am sure someone is wondering what the soundtrack for the game will be like. Well we find it where they take metal to the extreme. Where is that you say? How about Denmark. That's right EA Denmark has the list of over 100 songs for Brütal Legend. After looking over the list, it sure made me feel like I am watching MTV (back when they actually played music videos) when I was younger. Bands like Dokken, Megadeath, Judas Priest and many many more. Read More...

Let There Be Röck!
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 6th of August 2009 - 11:07 PM ]
Finally some closure. After a very long and grueling process, Activision and Double Fine Studios have come to some even ground and we do not have to worry about Brütal Legend being delayed in all it's rocking glory. According to the Associated Press and the New York Times, the Lawyers for Activision told court officials that they had finally come to a settlement with Double Fine Studios on Wednesday. For a brief recap see my previous article Activision tells EA to Back off The Los Angeles Superior Court spokeswoman said that Activision settled with Double Fine and a hearing, that was supposed to occur this fine Thursday morning, was canceled. What was heard last week was that the Superior Court Judge Craig Karlan had told Activision's lawyers that the request was probably going to get denied and the game was going to get released on time anyways. League of Legends: Clash of Fates
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 3rd of August 2009 - 06:19 PM ]
In need of a new RTS game before Starcraft II? Need some awesome online play? In that case, I recommend League of Legends: Clash of Fates. Did I mention it's free? Riot Games is bringing a new Real Time Strategy game to the field with League of Legends: Clash of Fates. This is a free online game, which made it's debut at E3 this year. According to the website: League of Legends is a competitive online game set in an imaginative world. Gamers take the role of a powerful Summoner, calling forth and controlling brave Champions in battle. Read More...

The Sandbox Narrative
by Kevin [ Monday, 3rd of August 2009 - 04:16 PM ]
There have been more open world, sandbox style adventures in recent memory than ever before. Non-linear gameplay is fully embraced and every videogame genre has felt its influence at one point or another. The ability to turn off, or flat out ignore mission objectives is a must in today's titles and the unlimited access to a living, breathing game world is embraced without reservation. How often, however, have we allowed that freedom to take the place of a well crafted and well explored story? Grand Theft Auto is usually quoted as a landmark franchise for the ability to blend an open and emergent gameplay with a dedicated and evolving storyline. Read More...

Zelda Wii: Five Ways Wii Motion Plus Can Make the Series Pop
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 2nd of August 2009 - 10:28 PM ]
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was essentially a port from the Gamecube to the Wii with improved controls. Now, “New Play Control” Wii games like Pikmin and Mario Tennis now sell for the reduced price of $30 USD. Twilight Princess, being a launch title on Wii, sold for the full $50 USD price point. I do not regret spending the money; the game was extremely enjoyable and since I had not played it on the Gamecube, it was a fresh and exciting first Wii game for me. At E3 this year, Shigeru Miyamoto announced that a new Legend of Zelda was being created for the Wii and released one piece of concept art. Read More...

Comic Con Issue #1
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 29th of July 2009 - 04:30 PM ]
Thursday: The First Official Day Earlier, I brought you what went on at the preview night of the convention as well as how it has changed quite a bit. For the worse in my opinion. But that didn't keep me or the Aggrogamer team from pressing on to the first official day of the convention. A day that I deemed EA day. A day full of games, small reveals, lounging, and a few extra after hours events. It'll make sense when you continue down. Read More...

Comic Con '09 Hands-On Impressions of Brütal Legend
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 28th of July 2009 - 01:39 AM ]
Brütal Legend Take Two As you may have known if you follow Corey or myself on Twitter at all, you would have seen how mush the PR train was rolling at Comic Con this year. It was Huge! But it wasn't just about the free stuff they were giving out or events they were putting on. They also had an updated version of the demo for this game. They also had the game on a few more platforms for us all to take in. Not to mention the fact that they had more kiosks to play on, thus shorter lines and waiting than at E3. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 07:55 PM ]
As nearly everyone in the World...of Warcraft knows that Blizzard and Legendary Pictures want to make a movie adaption of the highly popular MMO World of Warcraft. Two days before the San Diego Comic-Con, Blizzard and Legendary Pictures have announced that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the upcoming Warcraft movie. For those who do not know who Sam Raimi is, and shame on you for not knowing, he directed such films as the cult classic Evil Dead and the Spider-Man trilogy, which has broken box-office records around the world and was nominated for five Academy Awards.  He also produced 30 Days Of Night, as well as wrote and directed Drag Me To Hell. E3 Impressions: The Agency
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 10th of June 2009 - 08:25 PM ]
From An Actual Bond Villain Henchman Being in the job of henching for someone who will be taking over the globe soon via our orbital space stations (No I'm not kidding), I felt it only right to check out The Agency. Partly to see how this new MMO for the PS3 and PC will handle. Partly to see what SOE is going to be training people to do so we can be prepared for it. Also partly because I just had to turn around after getting hands on with DC Universe Online. I'm a gamer and we're lazy. Read More...

E3 Hands-On Impressions of Brütal Legend
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 9th of June 2009 - 04:03 AM ]
Brütal Legend While Activision tries to file a lawsuit against EA over this property, we who got to go to E3 where also bombarded with this game at the major booths much like Batman Arkham Asylum. Only there was no booth all to itself for this one. Also there was no Jack Black on site pimping the game like he did at the Brütal Legend infomercial pretending to be the Video Game Awards. That all aside, I waded through the line to get my dirty and sinful little hands on this title to give it a good go before the Demo comes out. Granted, it was only my hands and eyes that got to sample any of this game. Read More...

Activision tells EA to back off Brutal Legend
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 04:09 PM ]
Ah, the Saga continues... As if Brutal Legend hasn't gone back and forth enough times, we finally start getting excited and WHAM!!! Lawsuit. If you haven't been following the drama here is a brief recap: Brutal Legend was being developed by Double Fine Studios, which at the time had contract with Vivendi Games for Publishing rights.  When the Vivendi/Activision merger happened last year the merged companies decided not to release the game. Jack Black fans around the world were crushed. Read More...

E3 Hands-On Impressions of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 6th of June 2009 - 09:25 AM ]
Cooks, mathematicians and sports teams all employ a powerful weapon to achieve success in their chosen fields: formulas.  Much will be said from E3 2009 and beyond until well after the launch of the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.  A lot of it will probably not be flattering.  Nintendo has found a graphical and stylistic formula on the Nintendo DS that is both successful and fun.At Nintendo’s booth this year at E3, I was able to avoid the long wait times associated with playing an anticipated title like The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and go hands-on for the entire demo.  The demo was split into 3 parts: Dungeon, Boss and Train.
