Brian G Asks: WTF is up with DLC?
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 26th of April 2010 - 04:20 PM ]
It's an exciting time to be a gamer because there is definitely a lot of pivotal stuff going on in our industry right now. Today I want to go on about a reasonably new development of an old concept. Expansion packs have been around since the mid 90's in the PC world. Back when the PC dinosaurs ruled the video game landscape (and just about any game could be played on any computer without a video card that costs more than a PS3), if there was a successful game, a half a year or so later we would see an expansion pack. People who enjoyed a game could purchase more content for around $20 to $30-ish. Don't quote me on this, but the first expansion in my memory was the level add on pack for Doom II released in 1995 called "Doom II Master Levels. Read More...

Hands On 'The Passing' Released For L4D2
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 23rd of April 2010 - 10:44 PM ]
So Valve announced the first DLC package for L4D2 a while ago and it is finally here to bring us more zombie killin' goodness. The "carrot" that they have been enticing us with is a major "change" to the cast of the L4D universe, and true to word there is one less survivor running around taking all the pills and startling the witch. *Note* I will try to keep this write up spoiler free for those of you who have not had a chance to run through it. I fired up Steam where the content is free (560 points if you play on the New Jersey of online gaming XBL) and loaded up the single player campaign mode to blow through as fast as I could. Mini Review: Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 2nd of April 2010 - 06:34 PM ]
This review has a few spoilers for Resident Evil 5 in it. This DLC takes place near the end of the game and talks about some major story parts. If you have yet to play Resident Evil 5 all the way through, you have been warned. Just when you think you have seen all you have of Resident Evil 5, Capcom adds in yet more to the story. Well at least they expand on the story by showing you what some of the other characters were up to while Chris and Sheva were off saving the world from the Zompocalypse. This time around, it is what happened to Josh, Sheva's militant mentor, and Jill Valentine, after you emancipate her from Wesker's mind control. Read More...

Dante's Inferno Getting All Saintly
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 1st of April 2010 - 06:41 PM ]
In just under a month, the next batch of DLC for Dante's Inferno will be hitting XBox Live, and the PlayStation Network. It will be bringing two new modes with it, multiplayer and "build-your-own-challenge" mode. Also a few new enemies to add to the roster. Although I'm going to say that they are going to be slightly altered models from the main game with a new coat of paint. Look at the last DLC that came out. But this is of course information we all knew about from the start. Read More...

Little IncrediBig Planet
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 30th of March 2010 - 06:03 PM ]
There are few things more disarmingly cute than the sack population of LittleBigPlanet. They have had many "guests" come through their game, including the Pirates of the Carribean, the comedic antics of the Ghostbusters, the vengeance soaked Ezio from Assassin's Creed II, the borderline confusing narrative prowess of the Watchmen, the grizzled veterans of the Metal Gear Solid series, and many more. Well, coming April 8th Pixar is diving into the fray with The Incredibles pack for the LittleBigStore. The Playstation Blog proclaims, fairly proudly that, "This huge pack features NINE costumes: all of The Incredibles family (including a “Retro” Mr. Read More...

Mini Review: The Heavy Rain Chronicles: The Taxidermist
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 26th of March 2010 - 08:26 PM ]
So you played through Heavy Rain and seen all the endings, now what do you do? You could play around and just keep killing the hooker or store clerk for fun. You could try to find other ways to see Ethan off himself if Shaun dies. You could even replay the sex scene, that got no negative mention in the media, and see if you can glitch Madison to stay naked. Just to name a few things to do. You could do one of those options. Mini Review: Dante's Inferno: Dark Forest
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of March 2010 - 05:40 PM ]
Just under a month since Dante's Inferno brought hellfire and brimstone to homes around the world, comes the prequel for the overall story of the main game, Dark Forest. A nice, albeit short, addition to the story of Dante's Inferno. Not to mention a few more puzzles and a"new" demon for Dante to slay to try and save Beatrice before she is killed. Which we all know isn't going to happen. In any instance, let me break this down into the two main parts this DLC adds to the game. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 23rd of March 2010 - 10:43 PM ]
Well it is all over now folks. Michael will finally have his wish as a new DLC will be coming for Mass Effect 2. In this DLC BioWare will be introducing Kasumi Goto, the galaxy's most enigmatic and cunning master chief, err I mean thief. Not only will players be able to recruit Kasumi in new missions, players will be able to to utilize her special abilities as a member of Commander Shepard's squad. Aaryn Flynn, Studio General Manager of BioWare Edmonton commented, “Mass Effect 2 is BioWare's highest Metacritic game to date, and we are excited to be able to expand that experience by introducing another engaging new character in Kasumi. Kasumi – Stolen Memory is a testament to our promise to continue to provide fans with new, compelling, high quality post-launch content. Read More...

Another South Park Song To Hit Rock Band
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 11th of March 2010 - 01:41 AM ]
While it is not Shitty Shitty Fag Fag or Blame Canada or even Uncle Fucker, it is one of the most amazing remixes and product placements in South Park in almost forever. I'm talking a little ditty that was featured with "Rock Band" during the episode of Whale Whores. Yea, that's right. Joining Timmy and The Lords Of The Underworld, artist and song title, is Eric Cartman's perfect rendition of Poker Face. A song that when I hear it gets stuck in my head for days. The Cartman version at least. Read More...
