by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 06:47 PM ]
Alright with E3 right around the corner, Konami took it upon themselves to have their 2nd annual "Pre-E3 Press Conference" which started off slow with some social game updates and news. About half way through it picked up for the "hardcore" gamer base. Here are some of the highlights Zone Of The Enders HD, will be releasing for PS3 and Xbox 360. Also it has a new opening animation (See Below). The Metal Gear franchise has been around for 25 years. Read More…

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Eight: Pre-E3 2012 Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 1st of June 2012 - 04:44 PM ]
It's that time again. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is looming and that means it's time for Matt, Corey and Brian to drop the gloves and pontificate the possibilities of what will happen next week at E3. The list of games the guys go over is too long to write out here...much like the podcast itself. It goes so long in fact, we had to break it up into two chunks. The bulk of it is here in Episode 98, but keep an eye here on Aggrogamer for a special bonus podcast of what happens when the discussion really heats up. Read More…

Hitman: Absolution Has A Weird Twist On Ruler Wielding Nuns
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of May 2012 - 11:08 PM ]
We've all seen the stereotype of Nuns with rulers to rap on your knuckles when you do something wrong. Hells, some of you probably lived through something like that in your youth. But have you ever wondered what they have to break out for those kids who are too bad ass for that to work, like say, Agent 47? Well we get that answer below in the new Hitman: Absolution trailer that you can see below. I am sure that this has some form of story importance, be it for the new title or older IPs. Read More…

It is that time of year again as I am sure you know. E3 is just a few days away. We will get to see all the new games, teasers, announcements and hardware we will all be pining over for the next year or so. We'll be there along with every other media outlet. Unlike them though, I want to know what the f**k you want to see out of E3 and not just what I want to check out. So here's your opportunity. Let me know and I'll do my godly best to get something for you. Read More…

The State of Gaming: Publishers
by Fred Buell [ Wednesday, 30th of May 2012 - 10:18 PM ]
You all may have noticed lately the onslaught of things like Online Passes, On-Disc DLC, and DLC that have been announced and made before release. Many of you may be under the impression the publisher/developers are just being greedy and trying to squeeze out every penny from you. What you don’t know is the inner-workings behind the scenes. The publishers are losing money this gen due to higher cost of development, and lower economies. They also have long standing arrangements with stores like GameStop where if a game flops they will buy back the product at full price or eat the cost and make zero money back if the store decides to price cut it down to move inventory. Diablo III Patch 1.0.2 Is Live
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 30th of May 2012 - 03:57 PM ]
Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's been a week since the release of Diablo III and we have our first patch and another soon to follow. The patch fixes a few bugs in the Auction House as well as tweaks to the Monk and Witch Doctor class. I'll give you the gist of it, but it's in your best interest to read the official statement on the Diablo III website. Monks active skill rune "Tranquility" for Serenity has had its duration cut down to 1 second. The "Physical Damage" Preferred Stats option in the Auction House for rings has been renamed to "Bonus Minimum Physical Damage. Read More…

Goodbye 38 Studios?
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 25th of May 2012 - 09:47 PM ]
According to WPRI.com, 38 Studios has laid off its entire staff in Providence and Maryland yesterday afternoon. An email was sent to all 379 full time employees that said the following: "The Company is experiencing an economic downturn. To avoid further losses and possibility of retrenchment, the Company has decided that a companywide lay off is absolutely necessary. These layoffs are non-voluntary and non-disciplinary. This is your official notice of lay off, effective today, Thursday, May 24th, 2012. Read More…

Review: Diablo III
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 23rd of May 2012 - 06:41 PM ]
After almost eleven years since the release of Diablo II, Blizzard's epic dungeon crawling franchise is finally back. Diablo III takes place twenty years after the events of Diablo II and its expansion "Lord of Destruction" in the world of Sanctuary. After picking one of the five classes (I'll touch on those later) you start your journey off in "New Tristram" which is not too far from the original Tristram (which you will be visiting in Act 1). Your character is in search of "The Fallen Star" which happened to crash into the Tristram cathedral. We soon find out that Decard Cain and his niece Leah were in the cathedral at the time, and Leah gives us the task to find her uncle and save Tristram from the living dead (who happened to rise again due to the power of the fallen star). Games That Deserve Another Installment
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 22nd of May 2012 - 06:08 PM ]
After playing Double Dragon Neon I thought to myself "What other games should come out with a sequel?" and alas I composed this list. I hope you agree with the gist of them, if not leave a comment down below. Zombies Ate My Neighbors (1993) A loveable run and gun zombie game that came out for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Developed by LucasArts and published by Konami. Featuring over forty horrifyingly fun and difficult stages. Read More…

Review: Starhawk
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of May 2012 - 10:10 PM ]
Starhawk has landed. From what I saw on all the social media sites, it must have been one of the most anticipated games to come to the PlayStation. One could kind of view it as a sequel to Warhawk, in spirit, but with a focus on single player this time out and not just multiplayer. Let's just jump right in and find out what I think of the game so you can decide to drop your money or not. The Story In the future humans start to move out into the galaxy and do what they do best, harvest natural resources and cause wars over energy. Only issue this time is that the main and most valuable source of energy, Rift Energy, also has the side effect of mutating humans into something worse. Read More…

Death Strikes Again With A New Darksiders II CGI Trailer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of May 2012 - 09:21 PM ]
Way back in March we got a nice little CGI trailer for Darksiders II. It was cool and beautiful, but it was only the first part of the promotional video. Lucky for us, below we have the next part of the clip which also leaves us wanting and waiting for the continuation of Death's badassitude. Yes it's a word. Deal with it. My only hope is that these kinds of clips will take over for the cut scenes in Darksiders II, at least for major scenes. Read More…

We Get Ambushed By The Latest 'The Last Of Us' Trailer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 18th of May 2012 - 04:52 PM ]
I'll be honest; I have not been overly excited about The Last Of Us. Go ahead and read any of my stuff on the game. With the past trailers and screens it really just feels like another post apocalypse game. To go further, it feels like Naughty Dog has paid off other sites and journalists to hype the game more than they should. I'm talking specifically when they posted a picture of the enemies that everyone and their mother said was utterly disgusting. It really isn't to the point everyone was saying. Read More…

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Seven: A Blizzard in Hell
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 17th of May 2012 - 06:00 PM ]
After two hand surgeries, Brian - more importantly, the Aggrocast - is back at full strength. Corey and Matt join Brian for a podcast talking about the great clickfest that is Diablo III. The guys also touch on Bioware/EA's woes with Star Wars: The Old Republic, 38 Studios going into loan default, as well as the various court cases swirling around the industry at this time. Without the law books on the table, the guys also touch on what they've been playing including Wet, Bulletstorm, Witcher 2, Torchlight 2 beta and some game called Diablo III. The best news for Corey came when Brian sprung a short Care/Don't Care on the show. Read More…

Diablocast Episode 1: The Beginning
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 16th of May 2012 - 04:17 PM ]
Corey and Brian have at it in this first episode of the Diablocast. Another spoilerific venture from Aggrogamer.com, the Diablocast is 60 minutes of back and forth between "The Blizzard Fanboy" (aka Corey) and "The Diablo's Advocate" (aka Brian) on all things Diablo III. Basically, this episode spawned from a discussion between the two guys that began over text message that just happened to spill into a podcast. Sit back, enjoy and leave all your comments in the show notes below or email us at bbentley@aggrogamer.com. Read More…

Mercenary Ops Beta Opens
by Fred Buell [ Tuesday, 15th of May 2012 - 06:11 PM ]
Mercenary Ops; the new free-to-play 3rd person shooter MMO due out this Summer from Yingpei Games; is now accepting beta applicants. All you have to do is 'Like' their Facebook page and beta hopefuls will be selected and sent out beta codes for the promising game. Beta entrants will be allowed into the servers June 20th. I think Mercenary Ops looks great for being a F2P MMO and being based in the Unreal Engine 3 only helps. Customizable weapons and character perks put this along with other MMOs in terms of gear, but its co-op missions, boss fights and head to head style modes keep this game firmly secured in the world of shooters.
