On Call With Split/Second
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 10th of May 2010 - 10:56 PM ]
This past Friday we were able to join in on the conference call for Split/Second, the upcoming game from Disney and Blackrock Studios. Split/Second is releasing next week (5/18/2010) and we had the honor to have our questions answered by Nick Baynes, Game Director for Blackrock Studios. So why should you pick up this racer? Well give it a listen and you can judge for yourself on why you would want to pick up this racer. If for some odd reason you don't want to listen to over fifty-six minutes of the conference call than let me give you some of the key points for Split/Second. Read More...

Arkham Asylum 2 To Be 'Darker' In Tone
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 21st of April 2010 - 04:11 PM ]
Thanks to 1up.com for reporting on a Chicago Comic-Con panel that long time Batman voice Kevin Conroy was speaking at. Conroy has reportedly said that Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 will be "really really dark" and that legendary, iconic villain, Two Face, will be making an appearance. I say awesome. I, like everyone else, loved everything about the first Batman: Arkham Asylum and I feel it speaks really well that an unknown newcomer like Rocksteady Games can rock our worlds with the first good Batman game ever (and a rare piece of quality licensed work). Its nice to see them not only expand deeper into the Batman universe, but also do so with the finely polished third person gameplay the market had not seen in a long while. Lets just hope as much effort goes into adding depth to the gameplay formula that made the first one so great. Read More...

Review: Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 25th of February 2010 - 06:14 PM ]
Wait, Vandal Hearts is still around? Why yes they are. Hijinx Studio and Konami recently released Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment for the XBox Live and PlayStation Network and did a reasonably good job with the game. I just find it a bit random that out of all the Konami franchises, that Vandal Hearts was the one they chose to release. In any case let see how this Japanese turn-based RPG do. If you have played any turn-based tactical RPGs like Ogre Tactics, Disgaea, or Final Fantasy Tactics than you will be familiar with the game and will find a few innovations. Read More...

Brave Arms: The Facebook FPS
by Kevin [ Friday, 5th of February 2010 - 10:57 PM ]
3G Studios just announced that they would be crafting a first person "social shooter" for Facebook, arguably the most popular social networking site on the net. It seemed like this was in the making, the idea of a Facebook as a platform for more robust content (i.e. something a little more in-depth than say Farmville or Mafia Wars). As more and more companies seek to establish a presence on sites like Facebook, like EA staking their claim for instance by picking up Playfish, this seemed like a natural progression. So what does 3G Studios have in mind? Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 5th of December 2009 - 09:00 PM ]
We all know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 took away dedicated servers from PC gamers. This is not the case for Shattered Horizon. On December 4th, 2009 Futuremark Games Studio finally allows for a dedicated server for Shattered Horizon, a multiplayer first-person shooter played in zero gravity. At least PC gamers will be able to choose how they want to play Shattered Horizon and who they want to play with. Players will be getting greater protection from cheats, hackers and griefers. Review: Saw: The Video Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 20th of October 2009 - 03:37 PM ]
Now I want to start out that this is not a movie based game, at least like all the other movie based games that get pumped out onto the store shelves when a new feature film or the film it is based on is about to hit the big screen. I felt we needed to open with that, because Saw: The Videogame shares only the title and is a continuation off the first film. It is not based of any of the films that have come out or are coming out. It should be considered Saw 1. Read More...

Review: Section 8
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 15th of September 2009 - 01:45 PM ]
At first glance, Section 8 looks like a Halo wannabe. At second glance it looks like a Tribes wannabe. At third glance it looks like a Battlefield wannabe. I'm not saying that a game that plays like those 3 games would be bad (heck, it'd probably be the best online shooter ever), but Section 8 seems to be lackluster in areas that each of those 3 game excelled in. The problem with that is while that Section 8 may be a solid game, the fact is that people are going to be playing the other 3 games that it is trying to emulate. Section 8 is a multiplayer only game, don't be fooled by the Corde's story campaign mode, it's basically a glorified bot mode with some random bits of story thrown about. Read More...
