Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, spoke with CNBC last week while at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. During the interview in which he discussed several economic points regarding the video game industry, Kotick made mention of the fact that he company is working on a title called DJ Hero. "We have the product called DJ Hero that's coming out later this year which is a turntable that you can actually play competitively and spin discs and mix songs." FreeStyleGames, was purchased by Activision on September 12, 2008 to help produce downloadable content for games in the Guitar Hero series and are set to develop the game. Read More...

Most licensed games that stem from movies have a history of well, being garbage, or at the very least having very few redeeming qualities. A lot of people attribute this to rushed development cycles to tie in with the film's release. There are high hopes for this though considering Raven Software, the team behind Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is at the helm, along with Amaze Entertainment, who have some debatable successes. In 2007, ThatGameCompany released their first game for the PS3. The game entitled Flow, was a vastly enhanced remake of the original award-winning flash game that had been released for Windows and Mac. Now they’re set for their second PS3 release with Flower, a game that is a successor of sorts to Flow. Officially set for release on February 12th on the PlayStation Store, Flower has players control flower petals as they float in the wind through a variety of environments. Turns out Harmonix is giving us Nine new songs before the week is out. There are various singles from various bands (Unfortunatly Two are from the Nickelodeon band The Naked Brothers). These songs apparentley cast a wide net over different ages, genres, language, demographic and pricing structure. Along with the obligatory "paid for" tracks from aritsts like Children of Bodom, Finley,Platero y Tu, Squeeze, Tokio Hotel and the All-American Rejects there is a free track from Miranda Cosgrove called "Headphones On". Those who got their hands on the December issue of Game Informer might have read about the upcoming Halo 3 expansion Halo 3: Recon. The game is in fact 3-5 hours long, which is very short. The game should also be a very low price. Bungie's Joe Staten says "We do not view this at a $60 title". Hopefully $20-$30.
