Gaming news and events here in the City of Cincinnati happen about as often as the city’s professional sports teams have a winning season. So, when I saw we reported that the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars van tour was making a stop on the north side of the city, I knew I wanted to put my hands on the game and create a nice article to post here on Pwned.com. Opinion Editorial, By Ben BrodySony, looking to chip away at teenage girls's fascinations with the Nintendo DS, announced a fancy new PSP Pack. The Pink PSP. It'll come with a lilac (let's face it, it's pink) colored PSP-3000, a Hannah Montana game, and a 2gb Memory stick preloaded with a few Hannah Montana episodes. While I don't exactly think there's anything wrong with the PSP it seems to me that the market they are trying to corner is going to always go with the DS when they realize that the most "girly" PSP game that exists is called Ratchet and Clank Size Matters. Announced today by Nintendo, the third iteration of the DS will hit store shelves in less than two months. A lot of excitement has been building around the DSi for it's ability to download and store software from the DSi Store, which will be similar to the Wii Shop Channel. The DSi will also feature dual cameras (one pointed towards you, the other pointed out) and an SD card slot. It will be slimmer than the DS Lite since they removed the Game Boy Advance slot. It will come at launch in Blue and Black and sport a nice $169. Read More...

In an age of sequels and cashing in, it is no surprise that Mario&Sonic will be returning to the Nintendo Wii and DS later this year. Already leaked two days ago, today Sega and Nintendo jointly announced the great duo's return to Olympic competition. I am sure that also returning with this installment will be a lot of waggle and sore arms. The press release mentions use of the balance board which will be an improvement for certain, but here's hoping they also implement Wii Motion Plus for more accurate gameplay. Last week Hudson Entertainment released screen shots on Onslaught, hailed the first First Person Shooter on WiiWare. Now, they have finally pulled back the curtains on the official Onslaught online page. The new, flashier vehicle now provides more insight into the story, wiimote and nunchuk button layouts for both foot and vehicle movement, small weapons and vehicle layouts and some finer details on on-line play. Yes, folks I had to re-read the website myself, Hudson is promising on-line co-op and ranking system for up to 4 players. In an e-mail to Atlus Faithful today, Atlus Co. has announced that Legacy of Ys: Books I & II, for Nintendo DS, pre-orders at participating retailers will now come with a bonus Soundtrack CD. This soundtrack CD will cover music from both Books I & II, but Atlus has not specified the length of the tracklist yet. Atlus had this to say about the soundtrack: Epic in melody and arrangement, the Ys Books I & II soundtrack has long been considered one of the greatest video same scores ever created. Time Hollow is a point and click adventure game from Konami for the Nintendo DS written by Junko Kawano of Shadow of Destiny and Suikoden IV fame. The story is about a young high school kid named Ethan Kairos. He lives with his mom and dad, until one night he has a horrible nightmare. During the nightmare, his mom and dad are trapped in a fire, and escape through a portal. After awaking from the dream, he finds that his parents have been missing for twelve years and he now lives with his uncle. His pet cat, Sox, shows up with a pen tied to his neck, and Ethan learns that the pen has the ability to alter time. Read More...

Dungeon Crawler Hack & Slash RPG games are starting to become a regular genre on the Nintendo DS, so does Aksys Games' set itself apart with From The Abyss? Unfortunately the game doesn't do much to stand out amongst its peers, but it is still a fun time for J-RPG fans. From The Abyss takes place in Rubenhaut where the kingdom has been overrun by monsters flowing through the Abyss Gate. You choose your hero from four possible choices, two male and two female, and then answer a short series of questions to give your character a sense of background. You arrive in Rubenhaut and meet with the queen, whom enlists your help to rid the land of monsters, and thus your journey to free the kingdom begins. Read More...

As of today, Bungie announced that Halo 3: Recon will now be known as Halo 3: ODST, meaning Oribtal Drop Shock Trooper, the center character for the game. "If you recall, this is our recently announced stand-alone extension to Halo 3 that features an all new campaign played from the perspective of an ODST in the heart of a Covenant occupied New Mombasa. In addition to sleuthing around the city and piecing together the details surrounding your squad's whereabouts, the game will also include some new Halo 3 multiplayer content as well as one or two unrevealed surprises when it's released next Fall. During their Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo announced a new version of the Nintendo DS called the DSi. The handheld's screens have been enlarged, and will now be 17% bigger (at 3.25 inches) from a DS Lite. The rumors of audio enhancement and .3 megapixel (640x480) camera have proven to be correct. The DSi will also feature an SD memory card slot, making it possible to take pictures with the DSi and then view them on the Nintendo Wii. Pokemon Platinum, the third game in the Diamond and Pearl series, was recently released in Japan. During the first days of it's release it sold nearly 1 million units. In one weekend it sold over 963,000 copies, all for the Nintendo DS. This made Pokemon Platinum the fastest selling Nintendo DS game ever. The Pokemon series has a long history of being extremely successful, especially in Japan. The game still has no confirmed released date in America. Read More...

It seems that on September 7th customers will see a new addition to the DS color lineup in the form of Metallic Silver. The other color choices available for the DS are: Polar White, Onyx, Coral Pink, Crimson/Black, Cobalt/Black, and Metallic Rose. According to Nintendo there are over 600 DS games to choose from..that is a lot of games!
