Almost a month ago, it was let slip at GDC that Lego Rock Band was in the works. As well as a few other titles that were most likely going to be glanced over in a keynote speech, but that is a different topic. Today, it was officially announced that all of the people behind the Lego franchise and the Rock Band franchise are totally bringing you the Lego Rock Band. Slated to be out by the end of this year on the PS3, Wii, XBox, and DS.
As is staple in the Lego world, there is suppose to be all kinds of comedic mischief that goes on in the game as well as the Lego way of building your rock stars for the game. As the images below show though, it doesn't look like locations for play will be anything more than they are now. I was totally hoping for that just built and waiting for older brother to walk in an smash like Godzilla feel to the environments. Then again, these are the early views of the game as well.
One thing I will say that seems a little concerning is that they make it seem like there are trying to make a very kid friendly version with this. Which could lead to some poor tracks on the game for play, at least to us matured generation. So far they listed 5 tracks that are a bit contrary to that, but if their target is more towards those of the regular Lego franchise, we could see more things like the horrible Sponge Bob Track Pack on this version of Rock Band. Reports are still early, so we will just have to wait and see.
