Playing A Real World Zombie Game - The Walking Dead Escape
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 26th of July 2013 - 04:34 PM ]
Just as last year, The Walking Dead Escape was back with a vengeance at Petco Park during the San Diego Comic Con. For the uninitiated this is an event where a good portion of the sports arena in San Diego was converted into an obstacle course in the theme of AMC's The Walking Dead. It really allows for people to really test their mettle and some of their survival skills to brag that they could survive the initial zombie outbreak. I was lucky enough to get to run the course again this year and what I found interesting was that most people I ran with compared the experience to most of the action zombie video games on the market today. Granted we were not allowed to attack the zombies in the run, but I would have to agree with the sentiment as there has been a push in the industry with Outlast and Dying Light this year. The E3 Daylight Trailer Is Just As Cryptic As The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 9th of June 2013 - 02:45 PM ]
Back during PAX we got a little bit of hands-on with Daylight and the developers were a bit close lipped about some of the specifics even while we were playing the demo. As you move through an abandoned hospital with but your phone for light and direction you encounter cryptic things about the environment that we had to piece together to continue. A nice little feature that isn't all that common in games today and with the below E3 trailer it looks like it is going to move into their PR for the game as well. If you want to call it a trailer, then you can see it below. Read More...

Review: Dead Island: Riptide
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 23rd of April 2013 - 08:46 PM ]
Back in 2011 we were all introduced to the wonders that could be a Zombie RPG with Dead Island. Two years later now we get to see how everything has progressed story-wise and engine-wise with Dead Island: Riptide. Is it just another crappy sequel that seems to be all the rage, or does it stand out on its own? Continue on to see what I thought. Story We pick up with the "Immune Fab Four" directly after the events of Dead Island. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Daylight
by Kenton Winkfield [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 04:19 PM ]
I’ve said it before; it's tough not to grab my attention when I get shown a video game. But it is tough to pull me away from one that already has my attention. Zombie Studios showcased their game Daylight at the Astro Headset Booth, which was close to Square Enix, my favorite developer/publisher, and right next to Wizards of the Coast, makers of my favorite TCG, Magic: The Gathering. This is an incredibly difficult location for a game to be showcased if it wants to keep my attention. Zombie Studios had no trouble reaching that feat. Read More...

Review: Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 26th of November 2012 - 05:20 PM ]
It's that time of year again. Time for the annual installment of the Call of Duty franchise. Time for the follow up to Black Op appropriately given the sequel moniker of 2. With all of that, let's see how it held up compared to all the others of the past. At least as it goes in the Campaign Mode. Story It's a foreseeable future and there is a "cyber" terrorist gearing up to bring the major super powers to their knees over something that happened in the past. The past being the mid 80's just for reference. It is up to a Special Forces team to figure out what is going, stop it from happening, and capture the mastermind behind everything. Read More...

So last week we were teased with a world premiere for the Zombies mode for Call Of Duty: Black Ops II. Teased and left waiting. Well the wait is now over. Below we have the "World Premiere" of Zombies mode for Black Ops II and, well, we are still left wondering what is going on with it. The two minute video below shows off some fun game play and cinematics for the mode, but now real details though. Outside of what looks like a campaign style progression map leading to new maps to kill the undead. If you want to call it that. Read More...

Dead Island: Riptide Tries The Tearjerker Again
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of September 2012 - 04:40 PM ]
I am sure we all remember back when Dead Island was first announced and the trailer that came with it. I am sure you do. It had people welling up with tears over a fictional family that was on the island of Banoi when the outbreak happened. Seems that Dead Island: Riptide is taking its turn at trying to hit you in the gut just like before. Below you can see the new CGI trailer for Riptide. While not an announcement trailer, as it has been announced already, it is the first promotional video showcasing the horrors that may lay in wait for us in the game. Read More...

The big news at E3 for Resident Evil 6 was that you were going to have a four play co-op mode in the game. Play The Walking Dead For Real At Comic Con
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of July 2012 - 08:37 PM ]
So by now you've most likely played Telltale's The Walking Dead, read the comic or seen the show. If anything you at least are interested in the zombie apocalypse scenario. Well here is something that those interested in any of those things mention will find pretty damn awesome. If you are at San Diego Comic Con next week you will have the chance to actually play "the game" for real. The game being that of surviving in a world where the dead have escaped the Underworld and are coming for your flesh. This isn't some small obstacle course set up as fun for promotions either. E3 2012 Hands On: Resident Evil 6
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 12th of June 2012 - 11:04 PM ]
Before I get in depth here for what I got to see and play for Resident Evil 6 I have to start off that this whole display was split more into two different parts. So that is kind of how I will break this down. The first part was focused more on the action and cross-story play and co-op of the campaign while the second part was some good old fashioned hands on time with a bit of Leon's story. Both of which were drastically different in style. Let me start with the Cross Story play first as it will help explain the four player co-op a bit better. Read More...
