ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, of Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls fame, has purchased id Software, of Doom, Wolfenstein, Quake, and Commander Keen fame. The move was surprising, as more people have been questioning who was going to buy Midway rather than who was going to buy id. As much as one can be in awe of the Final Fantasy XIII and XIV trailers on the giant screen at Square Enix’s booth at E3, I kept walking around to find something else.  The classic jRPG fan in me jumped for joy at the sight of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.  Already out on Wii Ware, picking up and playing Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was like running into a warm hug of an old friend.This sequel, 18 years in the making, tells the story of you, the son of the paladin Cecil and the white mage Rosa, years after the end of Final Fantasy IV.  The great evil of the second moon destroyed by Cecil and Rosa’s party in the original has returned and it is now up to you to stop this evil and return peace to the once quiet planet. Batman: Arkham Asylum One game that seemed to be at every one of the big companies booths, sans Nintendo, was Batman Arkham Asylum. It even had it's own booth show casing it as well as an area in the Warner Brothers booth, with leather restraint chair for those who got to bonkers while checking out this game. Standing outside of the famous Abbey Road, I thought about all the artists that have passed through into stardom. The doors opened to a vintage theater seating, a stage and curtain and giant LCD monitors. The curtains drew revealing Studio 2 made famous by the Beatles. The instruments were cardboard cutouts and we were still in the Los Angeles Convention Center, but as Harmonix began to demonstrate their newest Rock Band offering, it was difficult to not be swept up in the melodies and harmonies of a band as influential as The Beatles. Releasing on September 9th, the disc will have 45 tracks with plenty of DLC to follow, beginning with "All You Need is Love" (time-released exclusive) on Xbox 360 and the entire album, Abbey Road. Oh Bethesda studios you foul temptress. Such little information you give us about your new title has everyone salivating for more! Brink is the new title by Bethesda studios and Splash Damage. These two companies joined forces in May of last year, saying they both "share a passion for creating great games" and they're totally "confident that this partnership will result in even greater experiences for gamers." (Joystiq) Well it looks like the fruit of their labor is coming into view just a few days before the big E3 bash begins. So you have a Fallout 3 on the PS3 but wish you could enjoy the additional DLC that 360 and PC users enjoy. Well soon you will be able to play all the sweet awesome goodness that is Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and two newishly announced DLC packs, Point Lookout (basically a large open swamp area) and Mothership Zeta (you are abducted by aliens) on your Blu-Ray player that coincidentally plays games. While no specific date has been announced, you can expect Operation Anchorage to hit the PSN sometime late June and The Pitt and Broken Steel to follow about a month apart later. A release date hasn't been set in stone for either Point Lookout or Mothership Zeta, but it has been confirmed that it well be out on the 360 and PC before the PS3. Read More...

Want to save Azeroth from those Zerglings? Need help doing so? Well look no further as Blizzard has introduced Grunty the murloc marine. This cute space-marine wearing murloc will only be available to those attending Blizzcon or purchases the Blizzcon Pay per View via DirecTV. Blizzard made a statement about Grunty the murloc marine, “This tiny terror is fully armored and comes equipped with a gauss rifle, which he’ll occasionally fire into the air to make sure no invisible spacecraft are swooping in to attack.” Blizzcon will take place on August 21-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Chris Morgan, who has written such movies as Fast and Furious and Wanted, just wrapped up the script for the upcoming movie and now they are looking for a cast. He is looking for his main actor to play Marcus Fenix, and while others are thinking of actors like Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, or maybe Chuck Norris.
