E3 2012 Impressions: The Elder Scrolls Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of June 2012 - 03:53 AM ]
I have to start my impression of Elder Scrolls Online with the disclaimer that I went to check this title out at the behest of the readers on the site. So please forgive me if I speak more in generalities on the game's history and or lore as I just do not know it at all. But at least I have the details and you can all fill in the rest based on that. At least I hope so if you are reading this. But anyways, let's give it a go. Read More...

What's The Deal With Online Passes?
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 26th of March 2012 - 10:57 PM ]
Online Passes are apparently the new "Gaming Fad" even thought the majority of us gamers really dislike the over abundance of these online passes, especially when companies like EA are already starting to show some sketchy business models towards online passes. I'm going to be one-hundred percent honest: I fucking hate online passes and here are some reasons why: Online Passes are a new and "pricey" way to battle online piracy and used game sales, the latter being a joke in my opinion. A simple one use serial code that is required for access to certain online content such as Multiplayer and Co-op modes, or unlocks bonus content for a game. Although certain games such as Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Batman: Arkham City require an online pass even though they are single player games and withhold on disc game content from the consumer if an online pass is not purchased. Well it looks like the network guys over at Microsoft are looking to better improve things for the XBox LIVE users. They have not said exactly what yet, but you can be a part of this test if you so choose to. That is if you can go almost the rest of the month without online gaming with your XBox. Impressions: DC Universe Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of January 2011 - 02:12 PM ]
So here we are a week out from the launch of DC Universe Online and considerable time has been spent tweaking and fixing bugs in the beta, both on PC and PS3. I had the chance to be a part of the beta, along with all of you PSPlus subscribers or those lucky to have swagged a code to get in. If you don't fall into either of those categories, let me fill you in on what you have been missing out on. The Story Just like any RPG, be it MMO or Table Top, there is an ultimate evil trying to destroy/control the universe. In this case, it is Brainiac and he is doing it in the form of stealing all of the powers of the heroes and villains of the DC Universe. Read More...

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. SOE Fan Faire Hands On: DC Universe Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 11th of August 2010 - 01:17 PM ]
You would think that with E3 and Comic Con only two months and two weeks, respectively, before Sony Online's big Fan Faire, that there would not be all that much new to happen with DC Universe Online. At least that's what I thought as I arrived to see what SOE had on display for their "true fans" in Las Vegas, NV last weekend. But I was greatly surprised that I was wrong; something that I rarely admit to happening. First, there was a new instance being shown off: Joker's Carnivale. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 2nd of June 2010 - 03:23 PM ]
Sony Online Entertainment is no stranger to the Star Wars Universe, but I guess they couldn't wait any longer for BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. Frankly neither can we. SOE is going live today with their latest MMO title - Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures. Sony's new Clone Wars title is geared specifically for the younger generation of Star Wars fans, and avid watchers of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. Obviously with Sony's success with the Free Realms franchise, kids and micro-transactions go together like peanut butter and bananas. Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures will be free-to-play, but will also utilize the Sony Online Store cash system for players to purchase items, outfits and accessories. Read More...
