by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 6th of September 2011 - 10:11 PM ]
Again in my travels across the lush open world of YouTube I have come across a golden gem; A short little film by Andrewfilms of how awesome it would be to play Metal Slug via Augmented reality. A great show of post editing skills, makes this a must see viral video. The short captures the good old nostalgia of Metal Slug, a truly epic series of running and gunning. Sit back and enjoy this Nazi stomping, Zombie blasting good time Leave your thoughts and opinions below. I'd personally love if they threw in a boss fight at the end. Read More...

Knuckle Bumps To The Gamers Behind Fallout: Nuka Break
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of August 2011 - 05:28 PM ]
So there was that abomination that occurred with Mortal Kombat's web series. I've all but given up on trying to care about any web series that are based on popular video game franchises. That is until I caught Wayside Creations' rendition of Fallout, aptly titled Fallout: Nuka Break. Before you ask, this was created by fans of Fallout for fans of Fallout. The creator's being a small independent production company. The same company that released the virally popular short film with the same title. Read More...

Mobile gaming has come a long way in terms of game design and depth. One of the leading developers in this area is Kairosoft. Their first big hit, Game Dev Story, turned a lot of heads, gaining critical acclaim for their simulation of running a video game development studio. Their latest release on the Android platform is Grand Prix Story – a simulation of running an automobile racing team. Start your smart phones! You start out by choosing your racing team’s name. QuakeCon '11 Incoming
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 3rd of August 2011 - 04:19 PM ]
Let's start with "What is QuakeCon?", or as it has been known since 1996, the Woodstock of PC/LAN gaming. Hands down, one of the largest LAN parties of our generation. A celebration of all things Quake-oriented and bringing LAN gamers together onto one giant network. A gaming marathon that one will never forget from August 4th to 7th. Although, with so many gamers in a single location, and hosted by some of the biggest names in the business, (id Software, Bethesda, Insomniac, and Respawn) were bound to get some great news out of this event. Also a very interesting note, this event is 100% FREE to players! Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 27th of July 2011 - 05:35 PM ]
While it was not playable, at least to non-developers, Darksiders II came with the full force of Death at this year's SD Comic Con. Puns always intended here. What did we get to see for the game? We some of the new weapons, game play and a small bit of the story that we will get to play through come next year. Also, if you look below, some amazing art and visuals for the game. Let me break down what I saw and a bit of extra info about it. Read More...

A Steam Powered Overhaul
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 19th of July 2011 - 04:00 PM ]
Valve has announced that they will be doing a major overhaul of their popular Steam service. The new system will provide users with a number of new features to support and streamline the publishing process of digital downloads. This will require all new "all-new server and client code" but it will benefit the players in the end. "The maximum aggregate bandwidth of the system will be greater than the current system; this will help us satisfy spikes in demand when there’s a big release. We will also be able to send content from more places, to better serve people all around the globe. Read More...

WarCorner: Real ID Party Available For Testing
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 15th of July 2011 - 04:30 PM ]
Blizzard a while back made mention that players would be able to group together (same faction) and be able to run through random dungeons together across servers. Crazy I know, but it is Blizzard. They have the technology and the man power to make such miracles happen. I got an e-mail today confirming just that. The Real ID Party system went into live testing today and players will be able to experience cross-realm game play with friends. How this works is players will be required to have the Real ID of their friends they want to play with and invite them into a group. Read More...

E3 2011 Impressions: Tomb Raider
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 14th of June 2011 - 04:11 PM ]
If there is one franchise that feels like it has been milked to death, it would be Tomb Raider. The true definition that sex sells in gaming. So it would be very little surprise that Eidos would look into remaking such a beloved franchise for more money. Only from what we got to see at E3, I would not put it in the normal "remake for money" category just yet. This new Tomb Raider looks like it is going to do for this franchise what Batman Begins did for the Batman film franchise. It is darker. Read More...

Ruin On The PS Vita
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 9th of June 2011 - 02:14 AM ]
Multiple character classes, action based role playing, advancement and loot, Torchlight&helip;I mean Ruin is coming out on the latest announced platform, the PS Vita. It honestly looks like Torchlight/Diablo, but considering it's on the PS Vita I'm okay with that. This is the style of game the mobile platform was intended. Developers Idol Minds are the geniuses behind this gem, who also brought you Pain The Game where you could throw Andy Dick through pretty much anything but a solid building (and then some). This game play trailer brought to you by G4TV. Read More...

Virtual Reality To An Extreme
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 22nd of April 2011 - 06:55 PM ]
In the pursuit of making games 100% immersive there are an ass ton of gadgets, gizmos and displays to make you feel truly in the middle of the action. That is what the whole motion controller craze and revitalization of 3D is all about isn't it? But no one will rest until you can fully experience the game world as if you were truly standing there and walking around it. That is what gamers enjoy isn't it? Moving around and having all of the game character's skills based on their own motor functions that don't require basic thumb presses. Read More...

Command Come In... New Operation Raccoon City Game Play Trailer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of April 2011 - 05:27 PM ]
It is in and it makes Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City look like a load of fun. The trailer also makes all of the screen shots look like there were originally working it out for the Wii. Granted, there are a lot of pre-rendered scenes in the trailer, but if you look fast, you can see the game play mixed in. From the looks of it, it looks to take RE: Outbreak and do what was originally intended for those games. Fast action and a bit of sneaking with a sprinkle of Zombies and B. Read More...
