In a recent interview Phil Spencer confirmed that the exclusivity deal for Rise Of The Tomb Raider has a time limit During the recent Microsoft press event at Gamescom it was claimed that Rise Of The Tomb Raider was going to be an exclusive for Xbox next year. This of course upset A LOT of gamers out there, like me, who fell in love with how Crystal Dynamics gave the franchise a re-boot. Tomb Raider: The Ten Thousand Immortals the prequel novel to Rise Of The Tomb Raider and sequel to the Tomb Raider reboot has been announced If you had a lot of burning question at the end of the Tomb Raider reboot and what led to the events in the trailer for Rise Of The Tomb Raider then you may be in luck. DK Publishing has announced that there will be a new novel that bridges between both games called Tomb Raider: The Ten Thousand Immortals. The Tomb Raider Definitive Edition was announced and claimed to be bringing us the next gen Lara Croft on the PS4 and Xbox One. Let's take a look at if they have kept their word. It's hard to believe that we haven't had anything of worth to write about for the upcoming Tomb Raider re-boot since E3. Yes there has been the announcement of the launch date (3/5/2013) and the collector's edition of the game, but all of the visuals and details of the game have kind of been in hiding. Here we go for round two of the major showing of the Tomb Raider reboot and still nothing playable at E3 2012. While there was nothing playable on the show floor, there was a nice little demonstration behind the scenes that was all game play. The only caveat was that we were only allowed to sit and watch. Even with that being the case, I do have to say I was blown away with what I saw even though some of the game play mechanics seemed a bit off in terms of making sense in the world. If there is one franchise that feels like it has been milked to death, it would be Tomb Raider. The true definition that sex sells in gaming. So it would be very little surprise that Eidos would look into remaking such a beloved franchise for more money. Only from what we got to see at E3, I would not put it in the normal "remake for money" category just yet. Ok, so I might have to eat my previous words about the reboot for Tomb Raider. I may have been a bit quick to judge but in my defense that was back before anything real or tangible had been seen. Looks like it is that time again. You know the time to brush the dust off a franchise that paid off well in the past because we are running out of original ideas. Looks like Lara is no longer raiding tombs, at least in the title form of things. As can be seen in the latest in the Lara Croft stories, Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light. Which is much better than other titles it could have been like Lara Croft And The Space Aliens That Crashed And Died On Earth And She Has To Take Her Son On An Adventure With Monkey. Lara Croft returns in Tomb Raider: Underworld, her final adventure before a huge revamping of the series. So is this a brilliant way to send Lara off before reconstruction of the series or an example of why the series needs change? I am pleased to say that this is the best Tomb Raider title to date. Crystal Dynamics uses Underworld to continue and bring a conclusion to Lara's adventure she began in 2006's Legend. Underworld begins with you controlling Lara in Croft Manor as the manor is ablaze.
