Review: Brink
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 23rd of May 2011 - 04:59 PM ]
Brink is a fast paced, multi-faceted first person shooter, and brought to us by Splash Damage and Bethesda Softworks. With its intuitive free-running style game play, and great stylized graphics, is it enough to keep this title from the Brink of extinction? Brink is set in the near future, where two factions battle for control of a floating city known as the ARK. The Security and The Resistance are plagued with overpopulation and poverty, and have decided that the ARK is not big enough for the both of them. There is a story line for each faction and sixteen missions total in the campaign. Read More...

Hunted Gets A New Game Play Trailer
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 31st of March 2011 - 05:40 PM ]
It's dangerous to go hunting alone and in the latest game play video from Bethesda and inXile entertainments Hunted: The Demon Forge I wouldn't want to be out there by myself anyways. One of the best things in this video is that we finally get to hear some of the awesome voice over work we have all come to love from Bethesda Studios. Not to mention at the beginning of this month it was announced that Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus: Blood and Sand) would breathe life into the seductive temptress Seraphine. I think the voice acting work is best highlighted at the end of the video where we can see our dynamic duo bantering back and forth. Read More...

Prey 2 Live Action Trailer
by Corey Dockendorf [ Saturday, 19th of March 2011 - 07:57 PM ]
Bethesda Softworks announced this week Prey 2, and the teaser will make you think twice about putting your cell phone on airplane mode. Prey, which was released back in July of 2006, was originally developed by Human Head Studios. Prey followed the sci-fi adventures of Cherokee Domasi "Tommy" Tawodi. The general story was that he, along with Girlfriend and Grandfather, were beamed up to an alien ship known only as The Sphere. The Sphere has this whole Galactacus complex, as it devours all materials, living or inanimate from our tiny blue planet. Read More...

New Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Trailer Is Nothing Short Of Epic
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of February 2011 - 07:56 PM ]
By Matt Waitt You might want to put on a clean pair of underwear after watching the newly released game play trailer for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Oozing with intensity, the trailer showcases epic fights against dragons, immense/diverse scenery and a score that is sure to make your heart flat-line. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks Elder Scrolls V takes place two hundred years after Oblivion in the land of Skyrim. Troubled by the assassination of their king, Skyrim breaks out into civil war distracting them from the newly risen god of destruction; Alduin. After watching the new trailer I realize my jaw has dropped to the floor. Read More...

Id's Rage Becomes Untethered With A New Trailer & Release Date
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of February 2011 - 07:28 PM ]
By Matt Waitt Id Software gives us a nice little reminder that their first new IP in over ten years is coming out. That IP being Rage. This new trailer shows off some extremely beautiful landscapes of destruction as well as some promising action scenes. All set to the tune of an original song titled “Burning Jacob’s Ladder” by singer Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, Gutter Twins). The song definitely sets the mood for Rage; dark, ominous and gritty. The three things Id knows best. Read More...

Hop The Rail In Brink And Meet A Shotgun End
by Andy [ Wednesday, 9th of February 2011 - 11:06 PM ]
It's been a little bit since we've had some cool Brink stuff up here. So I submit for your approval, not that I really care for it, some new screen shots from Bethesda's upcoming game. This is the one that you may remember having the cool Parkour running and gunning. Also the one that actually played extremely well at E3 2010 but for some reason got pushed back, from my memory, almost eight months. Anyhoo. We are not being left totally in the dark with some new screens of the game. Read More...

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Trailer AT VGA's
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 13th of December 2010 - 09:22 PM ]
This weekend Bethesda revealed their latest endeavor with a new Elder Scrolls series during the Spike TV VGA's. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the long awaited sequel to Oblivion. The teaser doesn't give us much except for a little bit of story and some awesome stone wall which comes to life. If you want to take a full look at the wall check out the Skyrim teaser site. Skyrim also brings with it new technology, a new graphics/game play engine actually. Bethesda has announced that this time around they will be using a custom built game engine that will be more powerful than the previous Gamebryo engine which brought us Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout 3. Despite reports that the AggroCast team is dead, we are still alive and kicking...and playing games to boot. While we catch up on our lives during this summer, you too can catch up with some previously unreleased episodes of the AggroCast. Start with Episode 75, the one where David, Binh and Brian wrap up E3 2010. The team spent their last day at E3 scrambling around looking and playing anything they could get their grubby little hands on. This list includes some of the latest games from Bethesda and Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XIV. Read More...

Brink Developer Diary - The Ark
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 10th of August 2010 - 08:37 PM ]
In the latest Game Developers Diary for the much anticipated action FPS Brink, we learn the story behind the Ark. This post apocalyptic battle rages within this compound which houses way more citizens than it was designed for. So now this takes us to the story line, which is the turtle vs. the hare. You have on one side the resistance camp that is out of resources due to overpopulation, and think that the islands security has been hoarding their resources, and need to start sharing the wealth. Thus begins the close quarters civil war. Read More...

Hunted: The Demons Forge
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 03:38 PM ]
Dungeon crawlers are making a comeback in this current over-saturation of first person shooters. One of the newest titles announced from Bethesda Softworks, and publisher inExile Entertainment is Hunted: The Demons Forge. This new title is built around the Unreal 3 Engine, and it looks amazing. Focusing on exploration, cover-based combat, puzzles and co-op play, all from a third person perspective, this looks like a must have title for any player that wanted to just rock hordes of monsters with their buddy. Hunted: The Demons Forge comes to life in a third-person dungeon crawl with the intensity and action of a modern-day shooter. For those that don't know inExile entertainment was founded back in 2003 by Brian Fargo. Read More...

Brian G Asks: WTF is up with DLC?
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 26th of April 2010 - 04:20 PM ]
It's an exciting time to be a gamer because there is definitely a lot of pivotal stuff going on in our industry right now. Today I want to go on about a reasonably new development of an old concept. Expansion packs have been around since the mid 90's in the PC world. Back when the PC dinosaurs ruled the video game landscape (and just about any game could be played on any computer without a video card that costs more than a PS3), if there was a successful game, a half a year or so later we would see an expansion pack. People who enjoyed a game could purchase more content for around $20 to $30-ish. Don't quote me on this, but the first expansion in my memory was the level add on pack for Doom II released in 1995 called "Doom II Master Levels. Read More...

Brought To The Brink Of Stereotypes
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 12th of March 2010 - 07:33 PM ]
Who's ready to see some new footage of Bethesda's up coming title Brink? I know I am. Now if only we had some new footage. Oh wait, we totally do, and it is awesome. Even though it is a pre-rendered video with no in-game spliced in at all it still captures a bit of the essence of the game. The humor, action, and difference between character classes. If you want to call them classes and not professions here. One thing I find a bit interesting is the stereotypes that Bethesda uses in the video, and maybe in the game. Read More...

Get Teased Like In Vegas With Fallout: New Vegas
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 4th of February 2010 - 10:44 PM ]
Who want's to get teased? Who wants to get teased about Fallout: New Vegas? I see you with your hand and heart in the air. Yes you right there. Stop pretending that I am not talking to you. We all know you want to see a small glimpse at what is kind of to come with New Vegas. If you don't, then please step out and check out the other articles on AggroGamer here. Ok, now that it is just us here who want to salivate over the new teaser for New Vegas, let me say this, it doesn't really tell a whole lot about what is going on the the game. It is a nicely rendered video showing what were expecting, a nice shiny city in the middle of a huge waste land with a few high tech robots picking up stuff. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Saturday, 5th of December 2009 - 05:10 PM ]
The New Year is just around the corner, and players are anxiously awaiting a slew of games to be released in the 1rst quarter.  Well unfortunately some of the heavy hitters that were planned on being released have been announced as pushed back until later next year. Bethesda's shooter Brink which was scheduled to be released in spring of 2010, got pushed back to a fall release for all platforms.  Brink is the Splash Damage title that we have seen a few snippets of lately.  G4 just recently posted a new video on the title, highlighting the Smart Freedom of Movement system. Review: WET
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 21st of September 2009 - 12:37 PM ]
Are you ready to get WET? Artificial Mind and Movement, the game's developers, sure hope you are. WET has been in the works for a long time, originally set to release under Sierra, but eventually dropped when acquired by Activision. It finally found its home amongst Bethesda Softworks. So will you dip your hands into this title and get them WET? WET, this is a shortened term for wetworks, which involves a messy job that involves hands being wet with blood. This is where our heroine, Rubi Malone (voiced by Eliza Dushku), comes into the picture. Read More...
