Tekken: The Movie... The Trailer.. From Last Year?
by Kevin [ Monday, 18th of January 2010 - 06:14 PM ]
Surprisingly, there are many out there who are not aware of the Tekken live action film. Not surprisingly, I would consider those people fairly lucky. What's really interesting is that the movie supposedly dropped in the US, LAST NOVEMBER. Does anyone remember this? Essentially, the story was as such: "In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to keep the masses down, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a teenage street fighter who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. CES 2010 Impression: Psyko 5.1
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 07:11 PM ]
Psyko Audio may not be the first to release a 5.1 headset and they certainly will not be the last, but Psyko 5.1 was named one of the CES best of 2009. Does this new headset deserve such a title? Well I decided to give them a visit while I am here at CES 2010 and see how well the headphones are shaping up. I met up with James Hildebrandt, CEO and Head of Psyko Audio, and he gave me the rundown on the headset.  The first thing he had me do was listen to some music from the Blue Men Group for a full two minutes as he pointed out where the music was coming from the headset indicator. CES 2010: Tritton Technologies
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 02:26 PM ]
Here at CES 2010, we had the opportunity to stop by and visit with Tritton Technologies to see the "next big thing" in gaming headsets.  Tritton's Aaron Smith took us around the booth giving us a guided tour of the AX-180, AX-720 and the AX-Pro.  He was kind enough to suffer through our questions and a video recording.  The did not have their upcoming release of a wireless version of the AX-180 at this show, but look for it at PAX East.  So, take a gander at the video Binh recorded and leave your comments on the products below. And Thus The Hazard Drops
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 5th of January 2010 - 02:42 PM ]
A few months ago we reported on the parody-rich continuation of Matt Hazard's first adventure, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. This entry in the series, the downloadable Blood, Bath, and Beyond, is billed as a classic side-scroller to confront the evil General Neutronov, who has traveled back in time to capture 8-bit version of our hero. The strategy? Kill the original so that the current version of Matt will not exist to stop him. Read More...

EA announces Dead Space 2
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of December 2009 - 12:40 AM ]
EA announces today Dead Space 2... again.... formally this time....  That's right your favorite silent hero Isaac Clarke is making a comeback. Although certain people who will remain nameless *cough* Glenn Schofield *cough* have already mentioned back in October that Dead Space would be getting a sequel, it seems Visceral Games wanted an actual press release, just to make it all official and fancy.Visceral Games (Previously known as EA Redwood Shores) have much to say about the new title:“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey. The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. Read More...

Peggle's Reign Expands To PSN
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 18th of November 2009 - 12:11 AM ]
Today Popcap announced that Peggle and Peggle Nights will be releasing its addiction-y goodness on the PlayStation Network. They also announced that in tune with this release, Peggle Nights will also find itself on the XBox LIVE Arcade. Peggle on the PSN will be priced similarly to the original Peggle's release on XBLA ($10), while Peggle Nights will be priced at $5 (400 Microsoft points). Peggle is one of those games that seemingly anyone can get into. Yes, I'm sure there are three to four people that don't enjoy it, but where the game succeeds is its innate ability to keep everything simple and to do that simple well. Read More...

Review: Left 4 Dead 2
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 17th of November 2009 - 09:12 PM ]
Left 4 Dead 2, at its core, is the same game as it's predecessor: a zombie shooting game. But when you scratch the surface and look deeper, it's a much different game. Left 4 Dead was a fairly linear game, with 1 main path to take and while the guns and zombies may spawn in different places, it's pretty much the same the first few run throughs as the next few run throughs. Left 4 Dead 2 is different, it's a much more open experience, and while there still is one main path, there are several routes alongside it, making it so that you can get to the next safe room two or three different ways. More difficult paths, or longer ones, net you better equipment such as better weaponry or ammunition. Read More...

If the Nintendo Entertainment System Was Left 4 Dead
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 17th of November 2009 - 05:07 PM ]
Eric Ruth, of the aptly named EricRuthGames, has designed what is probably one of the most entertaining things related to Left 4 Dead in recent memory. With Left 4 Dead 2 upon us, and all of the bells and whistles it provides, it is hard to imagine a time before these advanced graphics engines, intelligent scenario directors, and well... four player gameplay. To remind us all of the goodness of our past, Eric decided to create an 8-bit version of the game. Read More...

Valve Gives Details On Left4Dead 2 Scavenge Mode
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 9th of October 2009 - 06:28 PM ]
Yesterday Valve announced a new mode for Left4Dead 2: Scavenge Mode. Scavenge Mode is a competitive mode where the Survivors must fill a generator with cans of fuel while a clock ticks away to the end of the round. Each can of fuel added is one point and added time to the clock, with only the Infected in your path. Much like Versus mode, the opposing team takes the roles of the special/boss Infected in order to stop the Survivors from scoring by any means necessary. When the clock runs out, switch sides and repeat; the highest scoring team wins. Read More...
