Guitar Hero 5: The Obscure
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 9th of July 2009 - 03:45 PM ]
First 24 Tracks For Guitar Hero 5 Maybe it's just me and not being totally up on my current music or even my older music, but to me it seems that Activision and Vicarious Visions are going with some of the more obscure songs from artists to drive players to the game. Some of the songs just announced for Guitar Hero 5 just don't ring a bell. Well actually quite a few of them don't. Artists I'm good with, but the selected songs just don't pop to mind. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of July 2009 - 06:22 PM ]
Watchmen: The End is Nigh Just in case you couldn't and didn't get enough of Watchmen, film or game, Warner Bros. is giving you even more options. Even options for you XBox and PC users that kind of got the shaft the first time around with the release. Even though the more economic version of it all is still on the PS3. Mainly because it is all bundled in for the cost of the BluRay plus a little more. Starting on the 21st (A truly epic day), XBox users can download the first and second episode of Watchmen: The End is Nigh in a nice little bundle. Read More...

Mandalor And His Merry Men
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of July 2009 - 05:28 PM ]
Star Wars The Old Republic - Mandalorians Looks like Lucas Arts and BioWare are starting the campaign to get us all amped for The Old Republic. As they have just placed out a video clip telling the background of the Mandalorians, via a Jedi Star Log and animatics. Telling of their rise and fall and what has become of them currently, also kind of why they have become the bounty hunters that we all know and love from the Star Wars Universe. I have a feeling that we will have more of these in the coming weeks, and most likely covering everything else you can play or kill in The Old Republic. We'll keep you up to date as we get these videos in. Read More...

Peggle: World of Warcraft
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 8th of July 2009 - 04:31 PM ]
Isn't there a add-on for Peggle to begin with? I believe there is.... *goes and log-on to his WoW account to make sure* ...yeah there is. So why is this so important? Well it's because its not an add-on but an actual game outside of World of Warcraft. 10 World of Warcraft stages for all your Peggle goodness. This includes backgrounds from Blizzard artists, compete against a friend or PC in Duel mode, Quick Play levels anytime you want to hone your Peggle skills, and add to your Peggle Master rank with super-extra-hard challenges. Early Zombie Plans
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 6th of July 2009 - 07:43 PM ]
L4D2 Multiplayer Demo Wanna get to play Left 4 Dead 2 a little early? Well at least the Multiplayer aspect of the game, as if there is any other form of the game. I jest. But in any instance, Valve has a way for you to get your hands on the game a few weeks before the full launch on the 17th of November this year. It is another to contrite either and for both console and PC versions of the game. How? Read More...

Balderdash On Not Having Good PSP Games
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of July 2009 - 08:56 PM ]
Capcom Classics Coming to PSN Starting Tomorrow That's right I said it. Balderdash! There are and will be some more good games for the PSP coming in the not to distant future, like tomorrow and the coming summer months. At least all because of Capcom and the PSN. Which means yes, they will be coming as Downloadable content for the system, kind of in a way to get everyone ready for the new PSP Go!. From the PlayStation Blog directly, Capcom has announced their new line up of their games that they will be bringing. With the first being the Classic Collection filled with all of their great classic arcade games. Read More...

Belated E3 Impressions: Jade Dynasty
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 23rd of June 2009 - 03:37 PM ]
There is an unfair bias among many in the media here in North America against micro-transactions and free-to-play Massive Multiplayer Online games. That somehow if you play a non-subscription-based system (i.e. World of Warcraft), you’ll catch some communicable disease of un-coolness. What most gaming enthusiast journalists fail to focus on is this market is increasing by huge leaps daily with more and more players, especially individuals who would never play something like World of Warcraft but put tens of hours a week into one of these free-to-play MMOs. At E3 this year, I stopped by Perfect World Entertainment to see their assortment of free-to-play MMOs, especially Jade Dynasty. I had an opportunity to sit with Andrew Brown, the game’s product manager, to discuss the open beta and upcoming release. Read More...

Chance for some 1943 Want a chance to get your grubby mitts on some Battlefield 1943 for the platform of your choice? Have a digital camera and minor photoshop skills? Have access and the testicular fortitude to force a GameStop employee to take a picture with you while holding a game in your hands? Then does Dice and EA have a challenge for you to get 1943 in your hands. Run through the games Official Twitter page and their actual home page, they are giving that chance I talked about. Revenge Is A Powerful Force
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 22nd of June 2009 - 06:17 PM ]
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Launch Trailer Just in case all of us gamer geeks out here have forgotten, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes out this week. In both theatrical release and video game release. All for the makes of us to cream our shorts with 1980'S nostalgia in a darker 21st way. Not to mention to profit off said nostalgia and fathers and older brothers forcing said nostalgia on their younger children or siblings. It's a good old American pastime. Read More...

Get Assassinated In A Hospital
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 19th of June 2009 - 05:05 PM ]
Two New Wolfenstein Trailers Hospitals for some are just creepy places to be. People laying in "death beds," sharp medical instruments everywhere, creepy doctors or patients wandering about, and the ever draining of ones life force, money. So it makes sense that when you want to place a creepy scene or level in a game, you would choose an environment like this to give that real creep factor to the players. Raven Software, not wanting to skip on this for Wolfenstein, have placed another version of the Hospital level in a game. This time with Nazis and demonic powered soldiers. Read More...

If you wish to read my review of Episode 1: Fright of the Bumblebees and get more background, click here.  My review of Episode 2: The Last Resort is here.)By the “third” of anything, you have a pretty good idea of what is going to happen: the Rebel Alliance will fight the Empire, Indy will hunt for treasure and Marty will need to go back to the future.  The thing is, no matter how much you enjoy it, some of the magic that initially drew you in is gone.  With Telltale Games’ latest Wallace&Gromit adventure Muzzled! E3 Impressions: The Agency
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 10th of June 2009 - 08:25 PM ]
From An Actual Bond Villain Henchman Being in the job of henching for someone who will be taking over the globe soon via our orbital space stations (No I'm not kidding), I felt it only right to check out The Agency. Partly to see how this new MMO for the PS3 and PC will handle. Partly to see what SOE is going to be training people to do so we can be prepared for it. Also partly because I just had to turn around after getting hands on with DC Universe Online. I'm a gamer and we're lazy. Read More...

E3 Hands-On Impressions: Torchlight
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 10th of June 2009 - 03:39 PM ]
Squirreled away in the back of the Los Angeles Convention Center’s West Hall during E3, Perfect World Entertainment showed off Runic Games’ Torchlight along with their other Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games.  Only minutes after putting my hands on this little dungeon crawler had I decided this game had no business being in the back any longer.  Torchlight by Runic Games is set as a Diablo-esque dungeon-crawling Action RPG, which is actually a good thing since the people behind it are some of the same people behind Diablo and Fate.  The story is that near the small mining town of Torchlight, a rich vein of ore has been found called Ember. E3 Impressions: Left 4 Dead 2
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 8th of June 2009 - 03:33 AM ]
Let's be honest, while it may be a little early to be talking sequel, all of us that played Left 4 Dead could bet the house that a second incarnation was certain. On November 17th, just 364 days after the first, Valve will release Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox 360 and PC. Left 4 Dead 2 takes place during the same zombie outbreak as the first game, but features a new pair of 4 survivors, Rochelle, Coach, Ellis, and Nick. While it wasn't quite clear what the new campaigns were apart from the fact that it will take place in the South US (the game starts in Savannah and ends in New Orleans), Scott Dalton, a level designer on the game, said that more of the story will be explored, including the reason for the outbreak. Valve made sure to fix many complaints of the original game, and tweaks are apparent during the demo. Read More...
