You Greedy Bastards
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 9th of September 2009 - 11:22 PM ]
While the last developer's diary made it seem that Dante's Inferno was going to be full of Poo Jokes, this new one starts to add the creep back into hell. No I don't think that the monsters of Gluttony pooing on me is all that creepy. I also didn't think that they would be able to get creepy with the fourth circle, Greed, but this new video adds a little more depth, pun intended, on Dante. Not so much on the Greed. In this Dev. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Ultimate Character Reveal (Juggernaut)
by Jesse [ Wednesday, 9th of September 2009 - 09:38 PM ]
If there was ever a character designed to literally walk right through Charles Xavier’s X-men, it was the Juggernaut. Cain Marko was originally Charles’ older step-brother. A deep resentment for Xavier grew in Cain due to, among other things, Cain’s own father treating Xavier better than he did Cain. Of course this was merely a façade to keep Xavier’s mother happy. By marrying her, Cain’s father instantly gained access to the immense estate owned by Xavier’s father. Read More…

PAX 2009 Impression: Shank
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 9th of September 2009 - 07:46 PM ]
As I was walking around the PAX show floor, I happen to nearly walk by this Gem of a game. This is a game that seemed to nearly go un-notice at PAX 2009. Major titles like Mass Effect 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo: ODST and more at PAX make this game to be an extremely hidden gem for many of us that tried it out. For a game that has yet to be picked up by any publisher, that didn’t stopped Klei Entertainment to showcase their game Shank. What do we know about this game? Read More…

A Gamer's Review of 'Gamer'
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 9th of September 2009 - 12:02 PM ]
Quick Hit: Gamer seems to want to be a film about a future that is governed by our most base and decadent desires for sex and violence, but instead is a forgettable film that is wrought with questions but lacks the ability to provide any answers or establish a unique identity. Be forewarned. There are some spoilers ahead. So if you still plan on seeing the flick and want to be “surprised”, I’d wager you’d want to stop reading right about now. Still with me? Read More…

Review: Darkest of Days
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 8th of September 2009 - 07:54 PM ]
Time travel is the one thing that we all wish we had in today's world. It would be easy to travel back in time and change a few of the mistakes we have made. Sadly, it is only a reality in movies and video games. While this ability is not totally unfettered in Phantom EFX's newest First Person Shooter, Darkest of Days, you do get to travel back in time and see some of history's more iconic eras and famous battles. The difference between this and other time travel games is that you actually have the opportunity to change the outcome of some of these events and battles. The Characters: You used to be Alex Morris, a recently transferred solider under the command of General Custer. Read More…

Twisted Pixel Announces New Game Comic Jumper
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of September 2009 - 04:35 PM ]
Twisted Pixel studios, the makers of Splosionman and The Maw, announced their latest game at PAX this weekend, Comic Jumper: The Adventures of Captain Smiley. No platforms have been announced as of yet, but I think we can safely assume it will be coming to XBox 360 Live Arcade. That is what Splosionman and The Maw were both released for, so it makes sense. The concept of this original IP is that Captain Smiley goes from comic to comic changing story lines, story styles, and adventuring throughout different comics. From the trailer that was released, you can see some of the comic styles that they might be parodying (Power Puff Girls, Rob Liefield, Sin City, etc.. Read More…

Putting PS3 3.0 Through Its Paces
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 8th of September 2009 - 03:09 AM ]
Writing about anything Playstation or Playstation Network (PSN) related is always treading dangerous ground. The fanboys get upset if you write anything detracting and for everyone else, it just isn’t cool or in vogue to write something positive. This article will have a sprinkling of both positives and negatives as I look at the new Playstation 3 firmware update 3.0. Ever since E3 it seems like Sony has finally begun to stop taking itself so seriously and began to have a little fun. Read More…

Review: The Beatles Rock Band
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 6th of September 2009 - 07:51 PM ]
They reigned the charts for decade as an active band. They continued this reign even long after the fab four all went their own ways perusing their own interests. Their songs have been used in every other form of media ever since. Hell, they even have a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas that has been going strong since 2006. Now The Beatles have started to dominate the gaming industry with the latest iteration of Rock Band, which is one of the greatest rhythm games ever, in my opinion. The Beatles Rock Band is a 45 track version of Rock Band, with planned expansions. Read More…

PAX 2009 Impression: Star Trek Online
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 6th of September 2009 - 02:20 PM ]
What?! Not another Massively Multiplayer Online game? Can someone please stop the madness? Well I guess we cannot stop the train, but we can add a bit of flavor to the mix. The Star Trek franchise is now releasing their MMO called….that’s right, Star Trek Online. The many rumors about rather the game will come out and who will release it has been haunting this title for years. Well now that Atari and Cryptic have picked up the game, everyone in the Star Trek universe can now rejoice at the fact that they can have their own world to live in now. The story takes place 20 years after the most recent Star Trek movie, where planet Romulus has been destroyed and the Federation is now helping the Romulans. Read More…

The Darkest Headquarters Of The Days
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 6th of September 2009 - 06:30 AM ]
It seems that Funcom likes to do their Secret World information in two day chunks. It happened the first go around, where they sent out a video for the game then followed it the next day with a few images and a new facts about the game. I guess why would it be any different for their huge PAX unveiling of The Secret World right? Yesterday (9/3/09) was the video, now today (9/4/09) they hand out a little more. That little more being a load of concept work for the game. Read More…

PAX 2009 Impression: Torchlight
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 6th of September 2009 - 02:30 AM ]
On October 27th 2009, Runic Games will be releasing an Action Role Playing Game called Torchlight.  Action RPG huh, so you mean like Diablo? Yes, just like Diablo. It’s not as dark, nor as scary as Diablo, but the feel and the controls of the game would make it Diablo-ish.  But they aren’t stopping there. Runic Games is planning on making the game into a MMO, a FREE to play MMO, but will not be available until sometime in the future. They will probably be like Blizzard and they will release it when it’s done, and not rush its release. Read More…

The Mass PAX Effect... 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 08:16 PM ]
PAX isn't even in full swing yet and already the new shots and images are pouring in. Not just from the lesser known titles either. But the major ones too. Like this little game you might have heard of, Mass Effect 2. Maybe you've heard of it, maybe you haven't. Then again, you may have been living in an underground bunker with your parents since the 1950's and missed out on everything up until now. Cookie, online, if you catch the reference there. All humor aside now. Read More…

PAX Hands On Impression: Aion
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 03:16 PM ]
Arriving a bit late to PAX 2009 in Seattle, Washington and finally entering the Washington State Convention Center. The first game that I went and found was not what you would think. No, it wasn’t to the Blizzard booth to play more World of Warcraft. Instead I headed to the NCSoft booth to play their new Massive Multi-play Online game, Aion. Making a character was easier than I thought it would be and the customization was a lot more detailed as well. After making my female warrior for the game and logging in, I found the cut scene for the game action packed and was very interesting to get into. Read More…

Review: Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 5th of September 2009 - 01:11 PM ]
Fans of the anime series Fate/Stay Night have been clamoring for an American release of the fighting game series the anime was based off of. Finally Capcom has answered the fans with the release of Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable for the PSP as a download only title on PSN. Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable is exactly what its title describes, as it is the portable version of the PS2 port available only in Japan. Before I get into my review, I would like to say my review is based upon the Japanese version, and the only major difference between the two releases is the translated text in the U.S. Read More…
