PAX East Interview: Charlie Murder
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 26th of March 2013 - 08:48 PM ]
On day one of PAX East I had the privilege to snag James Silva and Michelle Juett Silva, the punks behind SKA Studios, and pulled them aside for an interview. We talked about their upcoming game Charlie Murder; a Punk's love letter to Dungeons and Dragons with a lot of references and personal touches. We also talked about how insane Boston's roadways are, and much more. Here are some highlights from the interview. Read More…

PAX East Hands On: Outlast
by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 26th of March 2013 - 06:44 PM ]
PAX East was home to many Indie games this year. So many, that most of the games were located in a section called the Indie Mega Booth. Outlast was one of the games that had their setup in this area. Outlast comes from the brand new indie developers Red Barrels. The company is a 10 man team from Montreal, with each person having experience working with companies such as THQ, EA, and Ubisoft. The team joined up to create and deliver incredibly unforgettable single-player games. With Outlast being their first game, I can say they have already found themselves a comfortable spot in my memory bank. Read More…

What Exactly Is Going On With rain?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 25th of March 2013 - 11:14 PM ]
It's been a bit since we have heard anything about rain hasn't it? It was announced at Gamescom last year, but that's bee about it since then hasn't it? It would sure be great if we received some kind of update huh? You know things like, what the game is about and how does it handle? Wait? What's this? A new game play trailer fresh off the press from Sony? I'll bite. Read More…

Pax East: Saints Row IV Preview
by Greg Tatterfield [ Monday, 25th of March 2013 - 06:11 PM ]
Deep Silver was at PAX East during the weekend to show off their recently purchased game Saints Row IV. Volition started the demo by explaining the games new story. Saints Row IV takes the leader of the Saints and makes him the president of the United States. But all is not well as the leader of the Saints have been captured by aliens and placed in a virtual version of Steel port. The new story direction allows Volition to make Saints Row even crazier. One of the biggest changes coming in Saints Row IV is allowing your character to use superpowers. Read More…

Let's Get To Know Elizabeth From BioShock Infinite
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 21st of March 2013 - 05:57 PM ]
With just under a week from launch it looks like it would be a good time to showcase one of the main characters from BioShock Infinite wouldn't it? Of course it is. This is why Irrational Games has released the following "dev diary" all about Elizabeth and everything that went into making her walk, talk, and not being an annoying escort mission pain in the ass. If you are trying to be a purist and have as little info about BioShock Infinite before playing the game proper, you don't have anything to worry with the following video. Unless you really care about a small scene were Elizabeth tries to get Booker to dance with her and very basic level scenes. Read More…

New Metro: Last Light Trailer Shows Us Salvation
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 20th of March 2013 - 10:52 PM ]
The guys over at 4A Games have just released a new trailer for the upcoming Metro: Last Light. This trailer features a lot of Neo-Nazi's, executions of civilians, and a little surprise at the very end. For those who don't know, Metro: Last Light and Metro 2033 are based off the international best seller by Dimitry Glukhovsky. The Metro franchise takes place in a post-apocalyptic Russia where a nuclear war has ravaged the entire earth forcing humanity to live underground. But they're not alone. Read More…

Interview With Obsidian's Chris Avellone
by Fred Buell [ Wednesday, 20th of March 2013 - 06:33 PM ]
The last few months I have been emailing back and forth with Chris Avellone; Co-Founder of Obsidian Entertainment; conducting an interview over email. This has culminated in one of the most in-depth, and amazing interviews I have done, or seen anywhere. Enjoy. Aggrogamer: First let's talk about the old days. You started off at Black Isle with Brian Fargo and a lot of the guys at Obsidian working on the Fallout titles and some of the Gold Seal DnD games. How was it helping shape modern RPGs at the time? Where Is The Teamwork When You Need It?
by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 19th of March 2013 - 06:59 PM ]
In a world full of Halos and Call of Dutys where players can be a one man army and carry their entire team to victory, how is it games like Army of Two, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, or even Battlefield manage to have such a large player base? The amount of people who group together isn't as large as it would seem. People, like me, don't have friends to play these games with because our friends either don't buy the game or trade it in shortly after it's released. So now I run into team based games alone and I'm forced to group up with people who either don't have a microphone or sit in a party with their friends who are playing different games. Read More…

Pre-PAX East Speculations
by Fred Buell [ Monday, 18th of March 2013 - 11:21 PM ]
With PAX East less than a week away let's get a look at everything going down this coming weekend. Firstly, we have the recently re-announced Saints Row 4 from Volition and their new owners Deep Silver. Nothing about this game aside from the release date and a fluff trailer has been shown. What do you expect from the newest installment of the Saints franchise? Personally I expect the game to be even more insane, with hopefully a deeper customization, as I felt Saints Row III pulled back a bit from we had in Saints Row II. Also, Deep Silver is showing off the new installment of Dead Island franchise, Dead Island: Riptide. Read More…

Saints Row IV Has A Release Date Now
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of March 2013 - 06:45 PM ]
With the loss of THQ from the publishing world I know many of you, myself included, have wondered about certain franchises and their future. One I know I've heard people question about is Saints Row IV. For those people I have some good news. It's coming and coming on August 23rd this year. If you need to see to believe, below is the official trailer with release date mixed in. You can thank Deep Silver for that. Take a watch and wait for more details to come. Read More…

Deadpool: The Game Is Looking Funnier And Even More Awesome
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 11th of March 2013 - 08:51 PM ]
Talk about a title that I can't wait to play, mainly for the story and humor. Deadpool looks more and more up my alley with each new trailer for the game. They are just everything that makes the 'Merc with a Mouth' who he is. The following new trailer does not disappoint as well. Well outside of showing some of the game's actually mechanics and game play. I'd be lying if I wasn't interested in how Deadpool will actually handle in game. Also, it would be nice to know what else we get to do in the game outside of crazy combat and gun slinging. Read More…

Sim City's Downfall
by Greg Tatterfield [ Friday, 8th of March 2013 - 06:50 PM ]
EA released their new Sim City game this week to a huge fan outcry. Many gamers are dissatisfied with the always-online DRM and the poor servers. What makes matters worse is that EA is only allowing people who bought a physical copy of a game to request a refund. Unfortunately gamers who bought a digital copy of the game are out of luck. The outcry and the refund controversy have gotten so widespread that Amazon has removed Sim City from their online store. At the time of writing the game has 1,072 one star reviews on Amazon. Let's Welcome The Empusa To God Of War: Ascension
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 8th of March 2013 - 12:19 AM ]
Just as they did before with the Manticore, the developers behind God Of War: Ascension have brought us new mythological creature making its debut to the franchise from the stories of yore. Most of you have probably never heard of Empusa before because she is not very prominent in many of the stories that we still hear today. Well none if my memory of my college years serves. Anyway, this servant of Hecate is now featured in the GoW franchise in some fashion. Read More…

Definite Proof They Are Not Zombies In The Last Of Us
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of March 2013 - 07:05 PM ]
I'll fully admit that when I first saw The Last Of Us back in December of 2011 I was impressed with the visuals but not really the setting or enemies. I believe I harshed on it being another post-apocalypse title trying to cash in on the 'end of the world' scenario that is still kind of all the rage. I mean they even called the creatures 'The Infected' during the initial launch. How were we not supposed to think that this was going to be another zombie type of game. Read More…

Willem Dafoe Now Listed Among Beyond: Two Souls Cast
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 6th of March 2013 - 07:19 PM ]
We all know from last year's E3, one of the big calls to Beyond: Two Souls was the fact that Ellen Page was lending her voice and physical acting skills. How this was biggest news that Sony and Quantic Dream wanted to push is still beyond me, but it was. It seems like instead of trying to focus on what the actual game play will handle like, they just want to point to star power. Again this is the case, but at least we get a little bit more as to what is going on. Willem Dafoe, of Speed 2 fame, is now in the mix of names to lend voice and acting skill to B: TS. Read More…
