Overwatch Gives Us A Taste Of Widowmaker In Latest Video

Overwatch

Another Overwatch video short has been released and this time we get a good look at Overwatch's Widowmaker and some of the events that led up to the brawl we will know

Just as we were promised it looks like another great little animated short for Overwatch has been released. This time it is a solid look at the deceptive sniper, Widowmaker, and how her actions are part of the reason of the conflict in Blizzard's upcoming title. You have most likely seen bits of this over the weekend as it ran during a lot of popular shows but now you can see her in action in the world of Overwatch. That and the full six minute video instead of the little thirty second clip that has already made the rounds.

Do take note that none of this is actual gameplay from Overwatch and all pre-rendered visuals. Given the aesthetic and feel of the game it can be easy to confuse it all but this is just another animated short to give us a good look at some of the lore in the game. Or at least some of the motivations and reasons there is solid conflict in the game's world. Even though technically all of the main characters here could be on the same team in a match but that would be splitting hairs over story and what makes for good gameplay now wouldn't it?

Overwatch — Alive

"Alive" weaves a tale of Widowmaker, the peerless Talon assassin who stalks her prey with deadly efficiency. In this episode, we spend a fateful night in London’s King’s Row—where you’ll discover how one death can change everything.

There is currently a planned open beta for Overwatch coming up on May 5th to the 9th for us all so we can get a feel for the game's maps and 21 heroes we will be able to play at launch. Currently that launch date is still set for May 24th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Given the time from now until then I think we can easily expect more of these fun videos to further expand the game's lore and let us "know" the characters just a bit more. I'm hoping for a Reaper only video myself.
