Mercenary Ops Beta Opens
by Fred Buell [ Tuesday, 15th of May 2012 - 06:11 PM ]
Mercenary Ops; the new free-to-play 3rd person shooter MMO due out this Summer from Yingpei Games; is now accepting beta applicants. All you have to do is 'Like' their Facebook page and beta hopefuls will be selected and sent out beta codes for the promising game. Beta entrants will be allowed into the servers June 20th. I think Mercenary Ops looks great for being a F2P MMO and being based in the Unreal Engine 3 only helps. Customizable weapons and character perks put this along with other MMOs in terms of gear, but its co-op missions, boss fights and head to head style modes keep this game firmly secured in the world of shooters. Nintendo Drops 3DS Price, Rewards Early Adopters
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 28th of July 2011 - 04:01 PM ]
Nintendo recently announced that on August 12th, they will be reducing the price of the Nintendo 3DS from its original lofty $249.99 to $169.99 - a dramatic decrease. The most likely reason being they've sold less than a million units since the 3DS made its retail debut in North America at the end of March. Besides the high price, the 3DS had a few other things going against it: poor software library, no internet browser, lack of an online virtual store and the thrill over 3D is waning some in the general populace. Still, it all comes down to dollars and sense. Read More...

Here we go with another rhythm game coming into the mix of things. Pun totally intended. The game this time is DJ Hero 2. The follow up and expansion on from last year's DJ Hero that let gamers hop into the world of "professional" DJing. Like every other title in the rhythm genre there are some new additions outside of the core track list. Some good, some not so good and some just kind of "What The F**k?" Let me break it all down for you and let you know if you should actually pick up a copy of DJ Hero 2. Read More...

In celebration of the delayed release of Valve's popular digital distribution platform on the Mac, it has been announced that until May 24th you can download the 2007 cult hit Portal for free on either PC or Mac. If you're like me and refused to buy the Orange Box when it came out because it forced you to buy two games you already bought, but STILL love the brilliant blend of flawless mechanics, dark humor, and perfect pacing of Portal, this is great news. If you are one of the three people reading this who haven't played through arguably the best three-plus hours of gaming ever, now you have no excuse. Also posted is this hilarious ad (seen below) to promote the free release. Read More...
