Ghostbusters Heading Into A Sanctum Of Slime
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 2nd of December 2010 - 07:03 PM ]
With Ghostbusters: The Videogame selling over a million copies, it looks like Atari decided to milk our childhoods for more money by having Wanako Studios, a studio owned by the makers of Naughty Bear, slop together another game in the franchise. From these preliminary views, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is going to play just like Alien Breed or Dead Nation with a coat of Ghostbusters paint on it. A 3/4 view running around an area aiming proton beams to wrangle up all the unsavory specters. Maybe they will include the purple slime from the second film in some way. Read More...

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. Bring On The Stranger's Wrath To Oddworld
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of September 2010 - 11:38 PM ]
Just about six years in the waiting, PlayStation owners will finally get their chance to play Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. Not only play it, but play it the way we are told it should have been played all along: with 720p graphics and PlayStation Move support. Just the way I expected to play the game back in 2005 when Oddworld Inhabitants brought it to market on the XBox. I loved Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. I would probably love a collector's edition like the God of War Collection of all of the Oddworld Inhabitants titles, but that is a dream I would assume is way off in the future. Read More...

Review: DeathSpank
by 345 [ Monday, 19th of July 2010 - 06:46 PM ]
DeathSpank is the latest game to feature Ron Gilbert's involvement, famous for creating The Secret of Monkey Island, among other games. Originally a comic strip character featured in one of Gilbert's Grumpy Gamer series, DeathSpank the game can be summed up as a loot game, similar to Diablo. However, the main difference (and gimmick) here is that the story and characters act as a parody to that genre, and the entire game itself is very much based around its humor. While this definitely adds to the charm and style of the game, it ultimately felt like the ironic clichés were too over-the-top and childish. Playing DeathSpank is relatively simple, and the controls are very similar to most any other dungeon crawler made for consoles in the past. Read More...

Let's Do Some More Testing
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 7th of July 2010 - 10:17 PM ]
In case you didn't get enough of the For-PSN-Only reality show The Tester, it was officially announced at E3 that Sony is doing a second season. Not exactly a big surprise, it was slipped into the other PlayStation news as just another bullet point. I mean, all the PS3 fans and users had to figure it was coming as it made some of the largest draws into PS Home and on the PS Store. This is not what this article is all about. Just after the 4th of July, voting began for contestants to get a chance to move onto the second round of the casting process. Read More...

Dreamcast Coming to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 16th of June 2010 - 05:56 PM ]
The Dreamcast is making a comeback and this time it's not in console form. Sega's last console attempt is getting ready to release two of it's popular titles: Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventures on the PlayStation Network and XBox Live Arcade this fall. The titles will get the usual treatment and advantages for being on PSN and XBLA, so expect Achievements/Trophies and much better HD visuals. Sega is planning on porting more titles in the coming months in conjunction with the 11th anniversary of Dreamcast's launch (has it been that long?). Read More...

Kung-Fu Live Kind Of Like Natal For PS3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 10th of June 2010 - 08:09 PM ]
So at first glance, and I mean fast, first glance, Kung-Fu Live could totally be mistaken for a Natal game. That is until you see the PS3 and PSEye in the background. But that isn't what we are going to discuss here. Kung-Fu Live is what is the topic here. The new PSEye motion game coming soon on the PSN. What is Kung-Fu Live? Well it looks like a way for home PSN players to simulate what Nick Arcade did so long ago. Read More...

Review: Kick-Ass The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of May 2010 - 07:15 PM ]
The comic and film of this intellectual property have come and gone. Both spectacular in their own right. If you have yet to read or see either, do both. But what if you have done one or both already? Well did you know there is a video game version of Kick-Ass for the PSN and iPhone? There most certainly is. Why wouldn't there be, as merchandising is a great way to make more money off a great franchise. It is the capitalist way after all. Read More...

They are looking for the King or Queen of Fat Princess. Someone who has ruled the rankings, has directed some of the weirdest winnings and who also loves cake more than the Princess herself. Review: Mega Man 10
by 345 [ Thursday, 15th of April 2010 - 03:08 PM ]
Mega Man 10 (available on XBLA, WiiWare, and PSN for 800 MS Pts/1000 Wii Pts/$10, respectively) is an incredibly fun and enjoyable entry in the classic Mega Man series. A follow-up to 2008's Mega Man 9 in more ways than just a new number, this game takes a lot of the feedback and criticism the latter had to craft one of the best sidescrolling experiences in years. While there isn't a whole lot Capcom and Inti Creates actually changed in the bigger scheme of things, Mega Man 10 features a lot of new tweaks and balance adjustments that make it far less threatening than its predecessor and more entertaining in the long run. While there are some tough areas in the game, overall I wouldn't call it difficult at all, and perhaps it is one of the most fair games in the series. Read More...

Review: Groovin' Blocks
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 31st of March 2010 - 05:55 PM ]
Finally another WiiWare game has made the hop from the smaller, power-wise, console to a larger one. I'm talking Wii to PS3 here. Which can be a huge step for some games to be ported over. The game in question here is Groovin' Blocks from Empty Clip Studios, a nice little Dr. Mario style game with a strong bass line to back up the gameplay. Back it up so much as it is part of the game play. How does the port over compare, well read on my curious friend. Read More...

Hackers Ruin The PS3 For Everyone?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of March 2010 - 08:17 PM ]
The following words are my own opinions and not those of AggroGamer and its staff. A month or two ago, it was announced that someone had figured out how to crack the PS3 to allow for home-brews and "pirated"/backed up PS2 and PS3 games to be played on the system. It was not explained how for a week or two after the announcement that it could be done in a way that could not be patched. But this isn't the news here. The news here is that Sony, after stating it wouldn't, is going to force "Fat" PS3 owners to update so they can no longer install another OS on the system. Read More...

Madden Who? Tecmo Bowl Returns
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 3rd of March 2010 - 01:52 PM ]
Perhaps my favorite football game of all time is set to return to XBox Live and the PSN in the Spring of this year. I know I'm not the only one who fondly remembers holding up and A on the NES' controller to pick a play and then watching a mass of pixels go to war on the field. It's time for Tekumo Bōru! As the press release proudly proclaims, "Tecmo Bowl fans no longer have to reminisce about the old days as players can return to the first video game that emulated real football with new generation consoles, twenty years after its release. As a game that still holds a strong community following, online community tournaments can now be held nationwide at the comfort of home. Read More...
