Madden Who? Tecmo Bowl Returns
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 3rd of March 2010 - 01:52 PM ]
Perhaps my favorite football game of all time is set to return to XBox Live and the PSN in the Spring of this year. I know I'm not the only one who fondly remembers holding up and A on the NES' controller to pick a play and then watching a mass of pixels go to war on the field. It's time for Tekumo Bōru! As the press release proudly proclaims, "Tecmo Bowl fans no longer have to reminisce about the old days as players can return to the first video game that emulated real football with new generation consoles, twenty years after its release. As a game that still holds a strong community following, online community tournaments can now be held nationwide at the comfort of home. Read More...

by Kevin [ Sunday, 7th of February 2010 - 09:25 PM ]
Well, seeing as how today is such a special day for football fans, it seems only right to present a deal for the current king of console gridiron - the John Madden NFL series.  Personally, I'm a 2k man, but since that series has gone the way of the dodo, I present a special deal to entice the Madden community. Both Amazon and Wal-Mart are having deals concerning the newest iteration of the title.Amazon proudly proclaims, "Get a $20 Video Games Credit: Pre-order Madden NFL 11, forWii, PS2, or Xbox 360, and get $20 off a future video game purchase. NCAA Football 10 Review
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 14th of July 2009 - 02:47 PM ]
Defenses be damned, offense is the name of the game in EA Sports' NCAA Football 10, their newest iteration of the NCAA football series. With all new game modes and a new presentation, it is clearly the sharpest looking of all, but is it the best? NCAA Football 10 continues the time-honored tradition of only adding just enough to get people to buy the new edition for the new year. Incorrect uniforms, dull (and often inaccurate) stadiums, boring commentary and lackluster audio plague the game, however it has always been that way. The first game I played, a rivalry game between Wisconsin and Minnesota, wasn't a very good first impression. Read More...

BackBreaker
by Kevin [ Monday, 15th of June 2009 - 03:42 AM ]
There are the Madden purists out there, there always will be. I cannot consider myself one of them because for all of the "innovations" EA throw into the Madden games - it will always be the same experience for me. Since EA secured the NFL license, there's been false start after false start for competitors to the gridiron throne. I give all the credit in the world to Blitz: The League and the 2k series for creating some compelling gameplay, but because of either: dated gameplay and graphics, or leaning too much on novelty gameplay, they were never able to achieve the same numbers of units sold. Here's hoping BackBreaker becomes a serious contender. Read More...
