NFL 2010: The iPhone Based Madden Killer?

From the site:

"Experience real football and play for the Super Bowl against the Cardinals, Steelers and the rest of the NFL on your cell phone. Every 2010 player and over 100 plays make this a complete sports game. Get into the action with a new QB view&feel the rush of running and passing in beautiful 3D-like graphics. More intuitive controls allow you to perform moves easily while charging down the field. You'll practically feel it, as your player tackles opponents&hear the crowd roar as you score!"

Visually, the game is already turning heads and the sheer volume of content is proving once again that Gameloft is one of the go to developers for all things mobile. The iPhone growing as a viable gaming platform with every release from Capcom, Ubisoft, and the like. Even with this competition, Gameloft still stands high producing content that is not simply a tie-in for a higher profile title on the current-gen game systems.

Does it effectively beat EA to the bunch? Just by glancing at the images and the video you have to entertain the idea. When EA is confronted with competition against their flagship franchise (on any platform), one of two things happen: the opposing title finds a niche audience and a loyal following (NFL 2k Series), or it becomes something of a novelty without serious drawing power but with more off the wall features (Blitz: The League).

Look forward to a full and in-depth review from Aggrogamer when this title drops in the App Store, which according to Gameloft, is later this month.
