BackBreaker There are the Madden purists out there, there always will be. I cannot consider myself one of them because for all of the "innovations" EA throw into the Madden games - it will always be the same experience for me. Since EA secured the NFL license, there's been false start after false start for competitors to the gridiron throne. I give all the credit in the world to Blitz: The League and the 2k series for creating some compelling gameplay, but because of either: dated gameplay and graphics, or leaning too much on novelty gameplay, they were never able to achieve the same numbers of units sold. Here's hoping BackBreaker becomes a serious contender.

NaturalMotion is behing the title, and with thier focus on truly simulation the motor control nervous system along with biomechanics, what we can expect is a fully immersive and extremely physical game of football. The first football game, it claims, to not use canned animations - something revolutionary in itself. The question is, however, will that be enough in a market dominated year in and year out by EA's Madden franchise? It could certainly be an alternative. It could be likened to a driving game enthusiast growing tired of simluators like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport and looking for an experience like Burnout, Split/Second, or to an extent GRID.

Do we need another football game that is able to properly calculate how many steps a QB takes under pressure? Or are the masses looking for a visceral game of football that will cause them to cheer a little bit harder, and wince a little bit deeper?

Only time will tell when BackBreaker drops.
