A Real First Look At The New Rock Band 4 Controllers
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 10th of June 2015 - 09:00 PM ]
Another, yet more detailed, look at the Rock Band 4 controllers that we will need to truly shine in Rock Band 4 Next week a lot of us, media and fans alike, are going to get to get our hands on Rock Band 4 and give the game a good play through at E3. In this case it won't be only the game but also the new controllers being made just for Rock Band 4 by Mad Catz. Something that also needs to be impressive to be able to show off all of the work that Harmonix has put into the game thus far and moving forward. We've had looks in that past at all of them but it was more glitz and glamour as to what to expect for the Rock Band 4 hardware but some people like me want to know more than just "the buttons are quieter" when it comes to the controllers. by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 12th of May 2015 - 09:00 PM ]
The new campaign mode for Rock Band 4 will have you playing Gigs that feel realistic and not one song wonders So far we have heard a lot on how Rock Band 4 will be changing the hardware we will use to pretend to be rock stars with when it launches later this year. Not much has been given to us on how Harmonix is changing the gameplay or what they are planning on adding to the overall experience. This of course means here we go with our first little bit on how they are changing gameplay for Rock Band 4. This time in the way of what is called Gigs for the game. Read More...

Have A Look At The Updated Rock Band 4 Controllers
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 6th of May 2015 - 09:00 PM ]
With the updates for Rock Band 4 Harmonix has also upgraded the hardware and now we have a look at what has been changed We have yet to see official gameplay for Rock Band 4 but we have had a look at the new controllers for the game and how Harmonix is changing things up to give us that rock star feeling all over again. Well, to clarify they have given IGN exclusive "first rites" to the Rock Band 4 and the virtual rock star feeling as it is Guitar Hero Live that is aiming for the real feel. Now that is out of the way we can dig right in to what we can expect to be plugging into our PS4 or Xbox One later this year to experience what Harmonix and Mad Catz will be bringing with Rock Band 4. Rock Band 4 To Be Co-Published By Mad Catz Now
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of April 2015 - 09:00 PM ]
It was recently announced that Mad Catz will co-publish Rock Band 4 with Harmonix to bring it to the PS4 and Xbox One Take it as good news, bad news, just news, but Mad Catz is going to be co-publishing Rock Band 4 with Harmonix. This to me seems like the perfect marriage to get Rock Band 4 out and with the equipment some may still need to fully enjoy playing the game. For those who may not know somehow, Mad Catz is one of those companies that make all of those custom controllers, fight sticks, and Rock Band controllers in the past. At least versions of them so, like I said, it makes perfect sense that they would partner up with Harmonix here to help bring Rock Band 4 to the PS4 and Xbox One. Read More...

Rock Band 4 Is Bringing Some Updates & Possibly Releasing In October
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 19th of March 2015 - 07:01 PM ]
A recent interview with Eric Pope from Harmonix discusses the new engine and a possible release month for Rock Band 4 Earlier this month we had the solid confirmation that Rock Band 4 is on its way this year to the PS4 and Xbox One. There were a few other little things also confirmed at the time as well. According to a new interview in a UK games industry magazine (MCV) there have been even more details talked about as well as a possible release month of October of this year instead of "sometime this year." Amazing news indeed and would make sense with the franchise's past releases but now I am getting ahead of myself with the Rock Band 4 news. Read More...

Rock Band 4 Is Officially Announced For PS4 & XB1
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 5th of March 2015 - 06:01 PM ]
Rock Band 4 has been officially announced by Harmonix and is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One this year It's been rumored and speculated on and now we can confirm that Rock Band is making the jump to the PS4 and Xbox One via Rock Band 4. Granted this isn't in any shape of an HD "remaster" of any past version as the speculation pointed at, it is a whole new Rock Band for the next generation consoles. The next best part about this announcement is that Rock Band 4 will be hitting our homes sometime this year. The best guess will be sometime around November or December of this year but Harmonix has claimed that Rock Band 4 will be out in 2015. Read More...

The New Amplitude Will Let Us Team Up On Expert Players
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 2nd of March 2015 - 10:01 PM ]
A new trailer for Amplitude and gameplay mode have been revealed by Harmonix for the upcoming PS3 and PS4 crowd-funded title It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I had my hands on Amplitude and now we are getting the next major update for the multiplayer coming with the game. Over on the PlayStation Blog it was just announced that Amplitude will have a team based multiplayer mode added into the mix for the new edition of the game. The reasons behind this being to combat the issue of friends getting together to party play and one of them just happens to be an Amplitude master; thus making the whole experience pretty crappy for the rest of the new players to the game. Like gamers would ever do that to anyone at all… Anyways, yes, Amplitude will have a 2v2 and a 3v1 multiplayer mode added into the free-for-all mode that was all the rage oh so long ago. Read More...

The team from Harmonix working on Amplitude have updated their Kickstarter informing that the game will now be delayed until this summer for the PS3 and PS4 Sad news for all of us out there who were hoping to be playing Amplitude this coming March. Most likely to go un-noticed by the gaming community as a whole but not those who have backed the project and were hoping to get the game earlier than it will be now. Read More...

Harmonix Is Making A FPS Called Chroma? Say What?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 19th of February 2014 - 08:00 PM ]
Chroma is the latest title that has been announced from Harmonix; the minds behind Rock Band… When you hear that Harmonix is working on a new title one would think some kind of rhythm title and not an FPS but that is what we are getting with the recently announced Chroma. Yes, the Rock Band/Dance Central legends are moving on to a FPS. Granted it is a 'music-driven' FPS title but still. This is not completely what I expected from the company. Read More...

Review: Rush Bros.
by Kenton Winkfield [ Saturday, 8th of June 2013 - 04:50 PM ]
I always enjoy listening to music when I play games. But not many games actually utilize the ability to use your own soundtrack in the game. You have Audio Surf or Beat Hazard which are directly influenced by your music but not enough games take this idea and run with it. We have another game to add to the list now. From brand new Indie developer and publisher XYLA Entertainment in collaboration with Digital Tribe Games, makers of such games as Velvet Assassin, Kung Fu Strike, and others, comes a brand new musical 2D racing platformer called Rush Bros. by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 25th of June 2012 - 06:53 PM ]
Since we do a lot of standard news and reviews on Aggrogamer I think it's time we get a little personal. I am a huge fan of music. I love listening to it and I most certainly enjoy creating it. So here are my top 20 all time favorite themes from a video game. Enjoy. Note: the first 15 are in no specific order but the top 5 are in order of epicness. Spider-Man&Venom: Maximum Carnage - "Carnage Rules" An epic opening to one of the best Spider Man games of all time Serious Sam: The First Encounter - "Fight 5" When this song pops during an epic fire fight in Serious Sam, your adrenaline surges through your veins as you enter "The Zone" Mirror's Edge - "Kate (Puzzle)" I loved Mirror's Edge and this song was so soothing and relaxing. I still listen to it a lot. Read More...

by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 10th of February 2012 - 10:00 PM ]
In my travels through the often harsh lands of television, I have come across what might be one of the most amazing things I have ever laid my eyes on: A symphony covering video game themes. Video Games Live is the brainchild of the legendary video game composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, featuring an immersive event with music from your favorite video games performed by top orchestras and choirs. Along with video footage and music arrangements, epic light shows, solo performances and unique interactive segments. Read More...
