I Love The Concept Of Video Games Live

Video Games Live is the brainchild of the legendary video game composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, featuring an immersive event with music from your favorite video games performed by top orchestras and choirs. Along with video footage and music arrangements, epic light shows, solo performances and unique interactive segments. Playing memorable tracks from everyone's favorite video games young and old.

Tommy Tallarico has worked on some of my most cherished games like Earthworm Jim, he has also won over twenty-five video game industry awards for "best video game audio"

The list of games they feature includes:

  • Assassins Creed
  • BioShock
  • Castlevania
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Civilization IV
  • Diablo
  • Final Fantasy
  • God Of War
  • Halo
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Mass Effect
  • Mega Man
  • Metroid
  • Resident Evil
  • Silent Hill
  • Super Mario
  • World Of Warcraft

There is a boat load more, they even have a Classic Arcade medley from over twenty games such as; Pong, Donkey Kong, Tetris, Contra and Space Invaders.

Video Games Live was made to help encourage and support the art and culture that video games have become. "Bridging the gap for entertainment by exposing new generations of music lovers and fans to the symphonic orchestral experience while also providing a completely new and unique experience for families and/or non-gamers." -From the Video Games Live website

But it's not just a symphonic rock concert, it's also a really cool festival with costume contests, meet and greets with game developers and designers, competitions such as Space Invaders and Guitar Hero, and an exhibit chronicling the history of video games called "Videotopia."

I personally love this concept; my favorite song from Video Games Live would have to be the Megaman Medley I just can't get enough of this epic win. I can't believe I didn't find out about these guys sooner, it's good to know that there are others out there that enjoy the artistic and musical value of video games old and new. Since I have started listening to Video Games Live I've been enjoying the music within games a lot more, for instance I have been playing a lot of Skyward Sword and I'm loving every time I hop on my bird and begin to fly.

I can't wait for Video Games Live to come to the Boston area, I'm going to cosplay as Barry from Resident Evil, rock the Rock Band contest like a boss and then enjoy the show. I hope to see you guys there.

If I could add to the already gigantic list of games they cover, I would have to say Starfox, and Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Mainly Zombies Ate My Neighbors because the music in that game is so weird, funky and unique.

You guys should all check out Video Games Live. There is a live concert on the Zune marketplace and Xbox 360 for about 240 Microsoft points, also be sure to check out their official website for more information, tour dates and other goodies. I really enjoyed the live concert, so much that I've been on their official site everyday looking for tour dates in hopes that they come to Boston soon.
