Public Leaking At GDC 2009
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 30th of March 2009 - 05:09 PM ]
Videos Leaked From GDC 2009 While the Game Developers Conference that just took place in San Francisco just last week isn't the largest place for crazy game announcements and substantial news, at least it wasn't my impression, there are always a few little things that get shown off or spoken about while there. A lot of it is also "off the record" type stuff that gets shown and brought up. Or even simpler, a please do not record and show off anything you see in this conference or booth. Read More...

Did You Google Swinging Video
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of February 2009 - 09:15 PM ]
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop Webisode 2 So if two day is too long to wait for a chance to try out the motion controls for Capcom's new Dead Rising game, they have brought out another of those fun little videos showing you the controls for the game. This time it shows off how to attack with any of the melee weapons you can pick up in the game. As we know there are a lot of random things like this in this franchise. As you guessed it, it really just comes down to waving the WiiMote to swing the weapon at your targets. Read More...

Screens Of Godliness
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of February 2009 - 06:19 PM ]
More Screen Shots From God of War III With the big media event that happened recently for God of War III and the new extended trailer being launched, it would seem that Sony is ready to start the huge marketing scheme for this game. Which I will not complain about at all. Except that we will all have to wait until after this year's E3 show to get a up close and personal look at this game. They are going to be showing it off in all of it's glory there. But until then, we can all ogle Kratos and the game with the little things like the below screen shots. Read More...

Death Is In My Blood
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 13th of February 2009 - 06:35 PM ]
New God Of War III Footage We have been tantalized and teased with small clips from God of War III in the past few months. To no end. Leaving fans drooling like hungry Cerberus for more. Well today, Sony has released some more game footage as well as information about the game. Still no release date given, but with what has been given, one can't be anything but excited. These two new videos aide quite well with this. The first is the extended, like 3 minutes extended trailer for the game. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 11th of February 2009 - 04:46 PM ]
First Real God Of War III Details A little while back a cover shot of the new Game Informer magazine was 'leaked' onto the net. Well not really leaked, but more given to tease the big article in the magazine, God of War III. One of the more anticipated games in my opinion. No it is not a humble one. So you can guess it has been much waited for, the new Game Informer. Well someone has received their copy early and decided to post scans of it on line. Read More...

I Got Some Big Brother In My MMOs
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of January 2009 - 10:29 PM ]
Online gamers in China must soon register with real names Before you think that we have it bad when it comes to privacy, take a look at things like this and think longer. It looks like the Chinese government is going to force gamers in the area to register with their real names. Not bad. But they must also provide their government issued code, think social security number for those in the states. All of this just to prove who you are and so you can play. Now here is the good question, why are they doing this? Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of January 2009 - 05:08 PM ]
Try Resistance: Retribution Two Months Before It Comes Out! Here is some good news for you that are addicted to Resistance. Like addicted to the point where you can't wait for the new PSP game that will help flesh out the story of the over all game. Also addicted to the point that you are pre-ordering the game. Yes, that sounds sarcastic, but I am not trying to poke fun. I swear. Read More...

Ziff Davis Sells 1UP to UGO
by Michael Camacho [ Wednesday, 7th of January 2009 - 03:19 AM ]
I am saddened to report that Hearst-owned UGO Network has purchased the 1UP Network from Ziff Davis. In what was thought initially to help improve 1UP and its financial standings, has turned out to be a grim surprise. After officially announcing the sale earlier, Ziff Davis Media CEO had this to say, “We believe this is a smart transaction for Ziff Davis Media that places these market leading assets and teams in a great environment poised for further success. The transaction allows us to pay down debt and shift our full focus to our core PCMag Digital Network business. We thank our 1UP team members for their contributions and wish them the best of success into the future”. Read More...

[PS3 Review] Rise Of The Argonauts
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 29th of December 2008 - 09:02 PM ]
A Tale Of Greek Tragedy? The Good: One thing that I really loved about this game was the story telling of the game. First that it was very Greek and somewhat very close to something one would read in their Ancient Histories class. Second, the fact that you could choose your own adventure as you go a long, with choices based on one of the four patron gods of the game. And these choices are more than what other games allow for. Like if you chose to be a dick or a good follower of Ares, it gave a totally different outcome. Read More...

Google Brings You Ninjas!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 19th of November 2008 - 11:47 PM ]
Spice up your inbox with colors and themes While trolling around the interwebs I stumbled across a nice little tidbit from Guild actress Felicia Day. GMail Themes! So I had to go see if I was one of these lucky few and low and behold there it was on one of my accounts. So not completely gaming news, but it is kind of cool geek news. But it looks like a select "few" people have been selected to take a gander at GMail's new Themes for their Beta of the service. No real details on when it will be wide release, but there are some really cool themes selected. Read More...

A Goofier Way To Look While Playing Games
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of October 2008 - 05:58 PM ]
Sony Patents Ultrasonic Waggle Controller Technology A while back, there was a video showing a motion controller designed for the PS3. It looked like the Dual Shock 3 controller only that it split in the middle to make for two fists of fury. Really cool looking. But now there is a new patent passed through to create a new motion and proximity controller by Sony. And the images proposed look really goofy. But the technology is actually kind of cool when you think and look at it. Read More...

Google's G1 Android Phone...
by Taylor Rose [ Thursday, 16th of October 2008 - 03:44 PM ]
I know many of Pwned.com's members are, like me, big supporters of Google. I've been highly anticipating the Google G1 Android Phone, and it has finally been announced that the phone will be available in stores on October 22, 2008. What is Android, you might ask? Android is a software platform and operating system that Google developed for mobile devices. Based off of the Linux kernel, it also allows developers to code in a Java-esque syntax: however, it does not provide the full-class libraries/APIS that come with the Java SE or Me, but rather implements the Apache Harmony Java.  Regardless of its seemingly limited functionality, Paul Reddick, CEO of Handmark (a developer of mobile media apps and services for the iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and other OSs) thinks Android will "help breed the simple and elegant programs consumers crave". Gears of War 2 Goes Gold
by Andy [ Friday, 10th of October 2008 - 04:07 PM ]
Microsoft and Epic Games, Inc. announced today that “Gears of War 2,” the blockbuster action sequel to the five million unit selling original, has gone gold.   “After two years of pouring our heart and passion into ‘Gears of War 2,’ the team is immensely happy with what we’ve created,” said Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski. "This is Epic’s best work yet, and we can’t wait to see the response from fans and newcomers to the series alike.” “Gears of War 2” tells the story of humanity's last stand against the nightmarish, underground Locust Horde, and is the follow-up to one of the most popular Xbox 360 games in history. Ratner Of War
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of October 2008 - 05:37 PM ]
Brett Ratner Signs On For God Of War Movie Yesterday, it was announced that the man behind the last X-men movie and Rush Hour 3 has signed on to direct the God of War film. Now I know what you are thinking, "There goes another great game ruined by a film." I know I thought it at first as well. Especially looking at the last films directed by the man. But then I started thinking further, a stretch I know, and came to another conclusion. It isn't all just down to him. Read More...
