The Softer Side Of [Prototype 2]...Kind Of
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of March 2011 - 10:00 PM ]
I don't know what it is about trailers like the one below for [Prototype 2], but I find them fun even though they don't really show off much. I think it is the violent content set to easy listening music that I find just awesomely funny. That's a word isn't it? Awesomely. It is for my purposes now if you don't think it is. Continuing on, here is yet another tease for the game that is still slated for a 2012 release. It pretty much shows Sergeant James Heller toss a Blackwatch guard across the city and we get to watch the slow motion flight. Read More...

With Karate You Can Kick Helicopter Ass In Prototype 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of February 2011 - 10:43 PM ]
Ok, so you could really do it in the first [Prototype] but in [Prototype 2] it looks to have been super charged in the new "teaser" that has made its way to the web. It may not be showing much but the game is still a least a year out from launch so what do you expect Radical Entertainment to give us? I mean we should all be surprised that there is a sequel coming out in the first place given the actions of Activision lately. I'm guessing that we should be ready to see even more of these over the next year just to cause some buzz for the game. Read More...

New Dungeon Siege III Screenshots & Game Play Video
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 9th of February 2011 - 09:03 PM ]
Well look what just popped up in my inbox, new Dungeon Siege III screens and some good looking game play video. It was only last week that Square Enix announced an official release date. Let the countdown begin. The coming battle for the Kingdom of Ehb draws near! For those of you that need a little refresher Dungeon Siege III is the continuation of the Dungeon Siege franchise from Gas Powered Games, except this time it's being brought to you by Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment, two well known names in the RPG gaming world. Players will become one of the remaining members of the 10th legion and try to rebuild your army to save the Kingdom of Ehb from tearing itself apart. This will be the first time Dungeon Siege will be playable on consoles and it doesn't look like it will disappoint. Read More...

Impressions: DC Universe Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of January 2011 - 02:12 PM ]
So here we are a week out from the launch of DC Universe Online and considerable time has been spent tweaking and fixing bugs in the beta, both on PC and PS3. I had the chance to be a part of the beta, along with all of you PSPlus subscribers or those lucky to have swagged a code to get in. If you don't fall into either of those categories, let me fill you in on what you have been missing out on. The Story Just like any RPG, be it MMO or Table Top, there is an ultimate evil trying to destroy/control the universe. In this case, it is Brainiac and he is doing it in the form of stealing all of the powers of the heroes and villains of the DC Universe. Read More...

Review: TerRover
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 21st of October 2010 - 11:06 PM ]
Creat Studios generated a lot of buzz when it showed its downloadable title, TerRover, at E3 this summer. Then when the demo was dropped exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, excitement for the game was off the charts. Sensitive controls and dynamic game play showed the promise of a precision platformer – something the hardcore gaming community can always get behind. TerRover embraces and champions the game design concept of Trial by Death. Trial by Death is the process by which the player acquires knowledge of the game and its systems of control by forging forward without the necessary information to succeed, relying on continuous failure to derive the correct solution. Dungeon Seige III Gameplay Trailer Released
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 3rd of September 2010 - 11:39 PM ]
What a way to kick off the Labor Day weekend! With PAX currently going on, there's going to be a lot of great stuff coming out of the convention and the first thing we get to kick off this holiday weekend is the new Dungeon Siege III Game play Trailer from Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment. I have now watched this trailer three times and I still don't know what to say. We see a warrior type character and a caster archetype showing off the hack 'n' slash style game play we've come to expect from this dungeon crawler. The character models to me scream Square Enix; their digital footprint is all over this game. Read More...

Obsidian Entertainment Developing Next Dungeon Siege
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of June 2010 - 02:54 PM ]
It's been a while since I was truly excited about a game announcement, but this one is pretty exciting! Dungeon Siege 3 has been announced for NOT ONLY PC, but XBox 360 and PS3 as well. According to the press release, Dungeon Siege 3 will have Square Enix (Final Fantasy) on board as Editor, and Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Knights Of The Old Republic) as the Developer, with Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege 1/2, Supreme Commander 1/2) supervising the whole process. So let's recap. Probably one of the best dungeon crawlers is being re-done in HD format across multiple platforms by some very powerful companies in the gaming industry. Read More...

Review: Alan Wake
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 09:09 PM ]
If you follow me at all on here it should be no surprise that I have not seen much of a difference between Alan Wake and Silent Hill. At least that's my opinion from the viewpoint of the screen shots, trailers and the most recent live action Bright Falls series. I mean, they look so very similar. If you don't think so, then you should have your brain examined. Well, I was just recently able to give Alan Wake a good play through. A really good play through so I could contrast and compare between this new IP and the "older" Silent Hill IP. Read More...

Review: Kick-Ass The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 7th of May 2010 - 07:15 PM ]
The comic and film of this intellectual property have come and gone. Both spectacular in their own right. If you have yet to read or see either, do both. But what if you have done one or both already? Well did you know there is a video game version of Kick-Ass for the PSN and iPhone? There most certainly is. Why wouldn't there be, as merchandising is a great way to make more money off a great franchise. It is the capitalist way after all. Read More...

SEGA Embraces DRM For Alpha Protocol
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 05:37 PM ]
SEGA, according to Eurogamer, has reported its intent to make use of the Uniloc DRM for its PC release of Alpha Protocol, despite past issues regarding the software. SEGA will be joining the growing group of publishers who have begun using intrusive authentication software in the name of protecting their PC releases. Since the inception of PC gaming publishers have been trying to find effective ways to balance protection against theft and unobtrusive gameplay experiences. How many people remember the funny picture wheel with older Lucas Arts games, or the frequently used “what’s the 4th word on the 9th line of page 36 of the manual” chestnut? Read More...

Shank Cometh
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 31st of March 2010 - 01:41 PM ]
I've been following Shank for a while now, and I've been consistently impressed by the visuals and the style of the game. It's like a 2D explosion of sweetly animated vengeance carefully marinated in some of the craziest violence that does not include a certain Devil Who May Cry or Dual Wielding Busty Librarian Clothed In Her Own Hair. Developed by Klei Entertainment, makers of such downloadable goodness as Eets and N+, Shank has action to spare. Here is Shank killing a giant butcher. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 10th of March 2010 - 05:56 PM ]
The last time we heard anything about Shank was at PAX in Seattle, Washington where I claimed it to be the best game I played at PAX. No new news of any sorts has come out about who will partner with Klei Entertainment to bring this game to see the time of day. As reported a few days ago at shankgame.com they have partnered up with EA Partners to bring Shank to XBox Live, PlayStation Network and PC. Now at GDC, Shank has released a new trailer for everyone to enjoy. Read More...
