Unleash The Rock Warrior Within With Guitar Hero
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 2nd of September 2010 - 08:38 PM ]
We all know by now that each of the characters in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock have an alter ego. If you don't, consider yourself informed now or ask yourself why you clicked into this article. For those of you that have a clue, we have a new look at ALL of the characters in the new game. How they all look, from concept to in game, what all of their abilities are and a nice in game look of what it is like when they will transform to help the Demigod of Rock. This is my first time seeing Austin, Casey and Judy here in all the transforming glory and I will say I am anxious to get my hands on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. I actually think that these three have to be my favorites in look, outside of Echo. Read More…

Batman Arkham City Covered In Blue Haze Too
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of September 2010 - 08:14 PM ]
With the new iteration of the Batman: Arkham [Insert Location Here] franchise, a new look will emerge.  The technology and graphics capability have been expanded on and it would be irresponsible for the developers over at Rocksteady to not utilize these changes. Even just textures and character models would generally be enough to satisfy the ever-expanding needs and wants of gamers. Well looking below, they are doing just that with Batman: Arkham City and its denizens. To be truly honest, the only character model/textures that look similar from Batman: Arkham Asylum would be that of the titular character. Read More…

Review: Worms Reloaded
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 10:52 PM ]
Team17's breaking away from the retail publishing biz and now focusing more on digital publishing. Now we may see more Worms games popping up on the digital market soon. Judging from their long line of Alien Breed and Worms titles, it seems like a smart move on their part; but we're not here to discuss Team 17's business model restructure, we're here to talk about Worms Reloaded. Overview For those that have never played Worms before, it is a 2D turn-based strategy game where you take your team of worms and shoot, sheep and blow up the opposing team in spectacular fashion. Worms can be played in single player campaign mode or multiplayer mode with up to four players. Read More…

Nintendo Drops Portable Price For Holidays
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 08:34 PM ]
As if Nintendo didn't already control enough of the portable console market, they wanted to really push the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL handhelds this holiday season by reducing prices. Beginning on September 12th, the Nintendo DSi will drop to $149.99 and the DSi XL will drop to $169.99. The DS Lite will continue at the $129.99 price point. As always, the marketing team over at Nintendo of America (NOA) makes a brilliant move: drop the price of the DSi and DSi XL now in September in order to sell more units for Holiday 2010. In The Secret World, The Templars Are From London
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 05:41 PM ]
Holy hells! We haven't seen anything new about The Secret World since the end of March. Like the whole team over at Funcom was ushered into the basement bunker owned by the Men in Black for trying to show the world what is truly going on. I was a bit afraid that was the case too. I am overly excited to see if they are going to be able to make up for Age of Conan. While there is still no release time frame anywhere in sight, there is a new video showcasing part of the creation process of The Secret World - at least in the form of one of the factions in the game. You will be surprised that the Templars are also nothing akin to the real world or the Assassin's Creed version of the society. Read More…

Borderlands Giving Out DLC For Free
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 02:42 PM ]
Isn't it always the case now? Everyone is out to make a buck one way or another at the expense of our pockets. The recent price hike for XBL is a good example of that. What you may have missed is the push for Game of the Year (GOTY) or Special Edition versions of games that come loaded with all that expensive DLC pumped out after game launch. Obviously this is simply a play to grab all the people who didn't shell out cash to make sure the DLC was created. LittleBigPlanet and Batman: Arkham Asylum are great examples here of this. Microsoft Did What?! XBL Price Increased?
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 30th of August 2010 - 08:46 PM ]
The on-line world is in a blaze right now as announced by Major Nelson that Microsoft will be raising the cost of XBox Live Gold membership starting November 1, 2010 in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK. The new prices for Xbox Live will be this: Well I know for a fact that Michael is probably not happy with the price changes at all, and probably a good majority of its users. But we all know that we gamers love to complain but are willing to shell out the cash to play the games or services. It's an endless cycle. Read More…

WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 2 - Balls In
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 30th of August 2010 - 06:32 PM ]
With a very unimpressive first episode, you may be wondering why am I even continuing with reporting on the proceedings. Well, plain and simple for two reasons: first, in hopes that it will get better and second, in hopes that I can save others' time with a recap if it isn't all that good. Ten minutes of reading seems better than an hour of watching an ad bombardment. So let's get right into it. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. Read More…

Review: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 27th of August 2010 - 04:15 PM ]
Starcraft II has been out for almost a month now and Binh and I finally had an opportunity to sit down and really get into the game. All we can tell you is that if you haven't had a chance to pick up the title, you need to go out and do so right now. We should state that this review is going to be mainly about the campaign mode because the multiplayer is worthy of a whole review in itself. (I am locking myself in a closet and playing multiplayer until my eyes bleed Zerg Blood.) Let Binh and I break it down for you. Read More…

Let's Look At Jigsaw's Drawing Board
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 05:51 PM ]
Where does he get all those wonderful toys? Oh wait wrong franchise for that quote. But it still kind of fits for Jigsaw in the Saw film and video game franchises. Doesn't it? For those of you that don't know where he gets them let me spoil it for you. He makes them himself, unlike Batman. Just like any good builder, be it creative death traps or video game level design, it all has to start somewhere. That somewhere usually blueprints or conceptual art for the ultimate thing to slay audiences minds. Konami is giving us all a look at the genius behind some of these traps, levels and characters in the upcoming Saw II: Flesh and Blood video game. Read More…

Something Positive and Refreshing in Gaming
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 25th of August 2010 - 12:52 PM ]
As they are few and far between, here comes another quasi-positive thing from video gamers that needs to be mentioned. With the video game bill trying to stamp out first amendment rights for games, we all need to look and see what these games can do: like bring groups of young adults together for community service. No, I am not talking community service that is imposed by the penal system. I am talking the kind that is voluntary to show that people still have some kind of kind heart left. Read More…

We Got A Mafia II Developer's Call We Couldn't Refuse
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of August 2010 - 11:40 AM ]
Now that you have seen the videos used to muster up your interest in the game that was eight years in the making - Mafia II - what else do you think the developers would want to tell you about the game? Yea, trailers and clips are fun, but they don't always convey certain things about a game you want to know. Sometimes they don't even truly show how the game is going to look and sound like. Well, we got on the horn with Jack Scalici, Director of Creative Production, and had a few questions answered for you. Read More…
