WoW Turncoats On The Way
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 30th of June 2009 - 04:33 PM ]
WoW Faction-Change Service in the Works When I first started playing World of Warcraft, I chose the Horde side of things. Big surprise with the Horde having undead huh? But, all of the real world people I knew who played loved the Alliance side of things for some reason. Which left me either having to worry about leveling two toons, forcing them to try Horde, or giving in and being bored with the Alliance. Didn't make it good for my continuation of the game. Things may be changing now. Read More…

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires Review
by Jesse [ Tuesday, 30th of June 2009 - 03:23 PM ]
It’s been close to a year and a half since Koei released the original Dynasty Warriors 6, which did, well very little to change the Dynasty Warriors formula. Thankfully the creation of the Empires spin-off games have added some much needed depth to the original games. Primarily Empires adds a fairly deep level of strategy as you take on the role of either a Ruler or an Officer. The two sides generally play the same as your overall objective is to capture enemy territories and control all of China. As an Officer though, you’ll have a little less freedom than playing as a Ruler. Read More…

All thing Blizzard! No support for LAN?
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 29th of June 2009 - 09:48 PM ]
How did StarCraft become so popular when the game first came out? Well that's simple. It was because Blizzard made it easy for everyone to have LAN parties. Well that is not the case with StarCraft II according to incgamers.com as they interviewed VP of Game Design Rob Pardo of Blizzard. Pardo stated, "We don't have any plans to support LAN." Then flat out said, "we will not support it and only multiplayer available will be on Battle.net. Read More…

A price drop afterall?
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 26th of June 2009 - 02:21 PM ]
So everyone has been reading since E3 that Sony has no plans for a price drop. Activision's CEO, Bobby Kotick, laid down the hammer on Sony last week encouraging that Sony needs to consider dropping the price on the PS3 or else they could see a full-stop on Activision games for the PS3. Can I see a raise of hand who thinks the PS3 is still over priced? *raises hand*Well this week in Australia it seems the Target stores care cleaning house on the 40 gig model PS3 the sale price is 199 AUD (160 USD). This price drop was first discovered unadvertised by the Whirlpool forums. Read More…

Mass Effect: Galaxies Review
by Kevin [ Friday, 26th of June 2009 - 02:03 AM ]
Mass Effect Galaxies, formerly Mass Effect: Jacob's Story, is an iPhone game developed by Bioware to offer fans of the franchise a little more in the way of mythology and action. It's a top down shooter with a great deal of personality for such a tiny title. It is not required to enjoy the series, but playing the game does give you insight into more of what is going on with characters you will encounter in the highly anticipated sequel, Mass Effect 2, Jacob and Miranda. Many of the same options in the 'higher end titles' appear here, including biotic powers and branching conversation trees. Unfortunetly, using the branching conversation mechanic here does not seem to have as much weight as it does in the aformentioned big brother to this game. Read More…

Mark Jacobs Leaves EA, Puts BioWare in charge
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 25th of June 2009 - 03:14 PM ]
Looks like EA is forming a new group specifically focusing on RPG and MMO games. What this new group will be called has not yet to have been announced. Of course with a creation of a new group that means there will be some shifting of power and responsibility. Mark Jacobs was the co-founder and general manager of Mythic and left EA on June 23rd 2009. Mark was not only a general manager but also a lead designer on Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot! Mark will be replaced by Ray Muzyka who is the co-founder and general manager of the all powerful BioWare. Read More…

ZeniMax Media Inc Acquires id Software
by Ben Brody [ Thursday, 25th of June 2009 - 06:16 AM ]
ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, of Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls fame, has purchased id Software, of Doom, Wolfenstein, Quake, and Commander Keen fame. The move was surprising, as more people have been questioning who was going to buy Midway rather than who was going to buy id. Daily operations won't change at id Software, “No changes will be made in the operations of id Software in the development of its games. id Software will continue to operate as a studio under the direction of its founder, John Carmack.” Soothing news to those following the development of id's next AAA game, Rage. by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of June 2009 - 10:24 PM ]
Final Fantasy on PSN Soon As if there hasn't been enough awesome Final Fantasy going about the interwebs since E3, Square-Enix drops some more good news for all of the FFFreaks (F3 from now on). Not as cool as a full on remake of FFVI for the PS3, or FFVII remake either, but today on the Japanese PSN "the game that launched a billion spin offs" was made available. I'm talking the original Final Fantasy. The PSOne upgrade version at that. Read More…

EA Sports Unveils Cover Athlete for NHL 10
by Jesse [ Wednesday, 24th of June 2009 - 08:53 PM ]
Honestly the way the 2008-09 NHL season went, there were probably a dozen different players who could have been a safe bet to be on the cover of the upcoming NHL 10. There’s often very little reason not to include Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin, and Sidney Crosby who finished 1, 2, 3 respectively in scoring this year. Players like Zach Parise, Ryan Getzlaf, and Marc Savard cemented there positions among the elite in the NHL by having stellar years also. On the goaltending front Tim Thomas was probably the story of the year having struggled for so long to make it into the NHL, he led the Boston Bruins to 1st place in the Eastern Conference with 36 wins helping him win the Vezina Trophy as best goaltender in the process. Shoot Dice With Your WiiMote On The Vegas Strip
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of June 2009 - 06:19 PM ]
Las Vegas Casino Party Announced Just incase Mario Party was not good enough for the family, or the family wants to get their kids hooked on gambling, buffets, and hookers early, a new party game for the Wii has been announced today. One that strikes home with me oh so well. Pun intended. Las Vegas Casino Party is that game. From the description of the game, it sounds just like the above mentioned Mario Party titles. You get ten stereotypes of Las Vegas gamblers to move around a game board, for some reason, to move from casinos to casino playing the classic games of old Vegas. Read More…
