CES 2012 Hands On: Sorcery
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 17th of January 2012 - 11:02 PM ]
Here's a title that was announced when the Move controller was first brought up on the E3 show floor. Since then, there has been very little on Sorcery outside of the recent game play videos. You can only imagine how I felt when I saw that Sony was showing this title off in their gaming section at CES. Finally we got to see how the game has evolved and how it will actually play. Also if it was going to hold up to my anticipations of being a Move game that could actually push the motion controller off of shelves and into use. Read More...

Time To Get Real...Again...With The Tester
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of January 2012 - 05:48 PM ]
Hopefully it is no big surprise that Sony has the third season of The Tester under its belt. I'm sure most of you gamers out there saw floods of tweets, wall posts and whatever other method of online social interaction to get votes to be on the show. I know at least a few hundred of you saw the flood. Back to the topic at hand, it was just announced who was finally cast for the show as well as the fact that we can watch this new group starting on February 7th. You can see a video showcasing all of these "contestants" below. Read More...

Top 5 Items Pushed Into 2012
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 28th of December 2011 - 05:05 PM ]
As 2011 comes to a close, it's easy to point out that once again the games industry has had an incredible year of releases. So many in fact, it would be simple to say that games pushed in to 2012 are okay because we already have so much to play. While I do not necessarily disagree with that statement, I think about the games already slated for next year that I want to play - i.e. BioShock Infinite, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Tomb Raider and XCOM - and I'm wondering when I will find the time to get into the things that were pushed back from 2011. Gingerly Touch Your Swords Together. Sorcery Is Still Alive
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 19th of December 2011 - 10:43 PM ]
I remember way back in 2010 when Sorcery was first shown off to the world at E3 during Sony's press conference. Then there was a surprising lack of anything to do with the game except the parallels with Medieval Moves: Deadmunds Quests, which I'll admit I thought was a redesign since Sorcery was labeled a working title. But now, I am overly surprised and happy to bring you some new footage and visuals for Sorcery, which no longer seems a working title now. You might be thinking to yourself right now, "Wait, why are you so excited for this game? Read More...

Hey Look Another Post Apocalypse Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 18th of December 2011 - 07:24 PM ]
So it looks like Naughty Dog is working on another new IP to try and move away from being stuck in the "We make Uncharted and Jax" slump they've been in for the decade. I mean really who wants to be known for making those games right? I jest and am happy to hear that the studio is going to try something new for themselves and move away from churning out sequels. They've done great things as far as innovating the visual effects the PS3 can pump out. So let's take a look at this new IP called The Last Of Us. Read More...

Review: Saints Row: The Third
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 6th of December 2011 - 05:15 PM ]
As I'm writing this I'm still picking off the fragments of my skull and brains from my walls. Where do I begin with Saints Row: The Third The over-the-top everything in the game? The hilarious story? The endless hours of mind numbing fun? Or maybe I should start with an anecdote? Yeah let's start off with a quick little anecdote. Alright, let's go back in time ten years. Queue cliché movie transition. Read More...

It's Templar Week In The Secret World
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 16th of November 2011 - 11:28 PM ]
Yea, I'll admit that sounds a lot like Shark Week on the Discovery channel, but damn it, Funcom wants to get some more info about The Secret World out to all of you. I am just trying to help them in this task. TSW does look like it can end up being one of the coolest MMO's out there. At least when it finally launches. Below you can peruse some new screen shots and concept art for the game and one of the three factions players will get to be part of. As you should have already guessed this week's faction is the Templars. Read More...

Michael Bay Directed Need For Speed: The Run Commercial
by Bryan Ray [ Thursday, 10th of November 2011 - 10:16 PM ]
I don't know how but I managed to stumble across a television commercial for a game series I forgot existed, the Need For Speed franchise. This one is about the latest one, Need For Speed: The Run. The commercial hit like one for a large Hollywood blockbuster. If it weren't for the CGI people you would have a hard time convincing me that this was for a video game. This is likely because it was directed by the one and only Michael Bay, who can tell a story with explosions like no other. The environments and vehicles look phenomenal! Read More...

The World Of Skyrim - Reaching New Heights
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 9th of November 2011 - 10:47 PM ]
The latest developer's diary is up at the Elder Scrolls Community page, and this time we are taken into the world of Cyrodiil and we see this world brought to life. Full of character and lush landscapes, this massive world is a time sync TES fans know and love. If you haven't checked it out yet I also recommend for the more technical reader to check out the brief history of Cyrodiil. This way you can see how a game world takes shape from a more technical aspect. It's amazing the detail that this team has brought into the world. Read More...

Trailer Park (11/9/11)
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 9th of November 2011 - 05:47 PM ]
Alright it's time for the next installment to Trailer Park! First up we got a magnificent trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii, showing off some beautiful landscapes and scenery featured in game, as well as some game play and story elements all to a gorgeous orchestral number. Now I sadly will not be getting Skyward Sword, as much as I would like to simply because I don't have a Wii and I really don't plan on ever getting one. A heavy price to pay to miss out on this gorgeous looking game. Read More...

The Sound Of Skyrim - Making A Dragon Sandwich
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 7th of November 2011 - 10:01 PM ]
There are a ton of factors that go into making a game: graphics, UI, scripting, but one feature that really stands out and can make or break a game is the sound. Bethesda has released their latest podcast featuring Mark Lampert - Bethesda game studios Audio Director - giving a full look at what went into making the music and sounds of Skyrim. I've always found voice acting and soundtracks to video games such an interesting element, so it's always fascinating to see how much goes into it from the other side of the screen. Check out the video below. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 4th of November 2011 - 05:02 PM ]
As you can tell with just a little over a week left until The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is released. I'm a little excited. Ok… I can't wait for this game. There is a lot that's coming down the pipe recently from Bethesda Studios and we recently got a look at the behind the scenes and the making of Skyrim. What you're about to watch is called "The making of Skyrim - Behind the Wall." It is a short documentary from Bethesda Studios about the making of Skyrim. Read More...

Skyrim Artists Release Podcast And Concept Art
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 3rd of November 2011 - 05:49 PM ]
The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim is just around the corner and the Bethesda artists have taken to the web and are giving us a look at what goes into (conceptually) creating the world of Skyrim. Also a podcast with some excellent commentary, Completely Blue Sky: The Art Of Skyrim is a must listen for any Elder Scrolls fan. "(Adam) Adamowicz, a Bethesda veteran, was joined by his friend (Ray) Lederer in the fall of 2008. The two have known each other for over a decade, putting them very clearly on the same page in both art and attitude. Read More...

Grand Theft Auto V Now Has It's Trailer...Straight Outta Vinewood
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 2nd of November 2011 - 05:40 PM ]
The wait is now over GTA fans. The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V can be seen below in all of its glory. At least in the glory of having a trailer that really doesn't tell us much. Outside of heavy hints at a Los Angeles-type setting and a time period of being current. But hey, it is better than just having a tweet that said the game was coming. We all get to see that the game is in full production and not just some pre-production limbo for now. I, for one, was wishing that Rockstar would have deviated from the normal GTA staples and gone outside of the box - at least in the realm of game world. Read More...

Trailer Park (11/1/11)
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 1st of November 2011 - 10:39 PM ]
Alright it's time for the next installment to "Trailer Park". This time I have a few new trailers lined up for you guys. I hope you all enjoy. Our first trailer today is a new "grind house style" trailer for Grasshopper Manufacture's new game: Lollipop Chainsaw. The trailer features the cliché grind house voice over guy and a scantily clad cheerleader named "Juliet Starling" who just happens to be the main character. Lollipop Chainsaw follows Juliet and her family as they fight off hordes of mindless zombies in her high school. The horde of zombies are controlled by a group of "rock and roll" zombies.
