Hollywood and Video Games: An OpEd
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 3rd of August 2009 - 01:58 PM ]
Two words that should never belong to each other: Movie Game. Let's face it, except for a select few (and let's keep in mind that GoldenEye 007 came out 2 years after the movie did), very few licensed games of a film have been even halfway decent, and yet more and more are coming out. Games from series like Harry Potter and Ice Age have been hits with kids that liked the films, but movie based games have failed to find a home with more mature audiences. Games like Resident Evil, Max Payne and Tomb Raider have spawned successful (Box office wise) movies, yet very few mature movies have spawned successful games. Perhaps it's due to the inherent fact that while in video games, players often feel like they have the freedom to make a choice that will affect how the game turns out. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 07:55 PM ]
As nearly everyone in the World...of Warcraft knows that Blizzard and Legendary Pictures want to make a movie adaption of the highly popular MMO World of Warcraft. Two days before the San Diego Comic-Con, Blizzard and Legendary Pictures have announced that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the upcoming Warcraft movie. For those who do not know who Sam Raimi is, and shame on you for not knowing, he directed such films as the cult classic Evil Dead and the Spider-Man trilogy, which has broken box-office records around the world and was nominated for five Academy Awards.  He also produced 30 Days Of Night, as well as wrote and directed Drag Me To Hell. Do You Smell What Marcus Fenix Is Cooking
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 10th of May 2009 - 01:25 PM ]
If you haven’t heard by now there is another video game movie in the works. And this time it’s for Gears of War (chainsaw FTW). Chris Morgan, who has written such movies as Fast and Furious and Wanted, just wrapped up the script for the upcoming movie and now they are looking for a cast. He is looking for his main actor to play Marcus Fenix, and while others are thinking of actors like Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, or maybe Chuck Norris. That is not the case for Chris, as he is actually thinking about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to play Marcus Fenix. Chris Morgan told MTV, “The Rock is awesome. Read More...

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
by Kevin [ Monday, 2nd of February 2009 - 02:32 PM ]
Most licensed games that stem from movies have a history of well, being garbage, or at the very least having very few redeeming qualities. A lot of people attribute this to rushed development cycles to tie in with the film's release. There are high hopes for this though considering Raven Software, the team behind Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is at the helm, along with Amaze Entertainment, who have some debatable successes. It will no doubt be a great representation of the character, but with the previous Wolverine centered game, X2: Wolverine's Revenge getting somewhat a luke warm response, will people be ready to accept a new form of Logan - that's another movie tie-in?The official site: http://www. Game Over!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 8th of December 2008 - 06:18 PM ]
Exclusive Saw The Video Game Update So over a month ago, I reported on a game adaptation of the Film Saw. I was really excited, but reports are coming in that it was just given the cut, pardon the pun, much like 20 people from Brash Entertainment. A very sad thing, for both those 20 and the gaming community. Hey, it is always bad when a game that could be awesome gets cut. At least I thought it would be awesome. Read More...

Get Your Free Movie On
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 5th of November 2008 - 10:11 PM ]
Netflix Giving Away 48 Hour Streaming Trials With New XBOX 360 Games So I figured it was only a matter of time before we got these kinds of things, I didn't expect it so soon. Not that I'm complaining though. Oh, I'm talking about getting the free trial pamphlets for NetFlix for the new XBox service. I figured since most people get them for the normal service, they would pop up for gamers too. Well it looks like the below blogger just got one in the Quantum of Solace box. Read More...

Ratner Of War
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 1st of October 2008 - 05:37 PM ]
Brett Ratner Signs On For God Of War Movie Yesterday, it was announced that the man behind the last X-men movie and Rush Hour 3 has signed on to direct the God of War film. Now I know what you are thinking, "There goes another great game ruined by a film." I know I thought it at first as well. Especially looking at the last films directed by the man. But then I started thinking further, a stretch I know, and came to another conclusion. It isn't all just down to him. Read More...

Mark Wahlberg has never played Max Payne
by Sam [ Wednesday, 6th of August 2008 - 05:57 AM ]
Mark Wahlberg, the guy playing Max Payne in the up coming movie has said in a recent interview that he has never actually played Max Payne before.     "I got more responsibility now than I've ever had with the kids and everything else. I don't want to be spending 14 hours on the videogame and then eight hours on the set. It's not going to work out."   I think that if you're going to be playing a character you should at least play the game first to get a feel for the character. Read More...

Degenerating From Comic Con
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 05:04 PM ]
New RE:D Trailer So this was one of the coolest things I got to see while at Comic-Con this year. It is quite a bit more of the new Resident Evil movie that they are doing. Unfortunately, it is a "Pirated" video that someone took. I was actually sitting not to far from the camera guy here. I've tried listening for my WOOO when Leon first comes on screen, but I get blended in. A little bit that they don't show in the clip but was revealed at the panel was that this is kind of a continuation of the 4th game. It has the characters of RE2, but it picks up after the events of RE4. Read More...

Not A Payneful Looking Flick
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 10th of July 2008 - 05:46 PM ]
Max Payne The Movie - Trailer So, I'll get this out there first. I have never played the game before. I've also never seen anyone else play it. So, I have no clue what the game was about and all the little things that could be wrong with the film. It is a Video Game film, so there is already going to be something that most people hate about it. At least fans of the game. Just thought I'd start off with that so you all knew where I was coming from before watching this trailer. Read More...

Spyro movie pwning theatres near you!
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 29th of April 2008 - 09:25 PM ]
Variety says Spyro movie is in the works. If you didn't know, the Spyro franchise is having a new game roll out for it's Decaversay. That's 10th for those who don't get me here. It looks like it could be pretty decent if they continue on the path there are on now. Good news for any of you out there that loved the game and wished for another. But on top of that, it has been released that there is a CGI film in the works for this game as well. Not too many details on it other than the fact that it has been announced. Read More...

2009 Movie PWNage Or Not
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of April 2008 - 08:55 PM ]
Dragonball Teaser Poster So all you DBZ fans out there, looks like 20th Century Fox could be starting the promotions for the new live action film. As the movie poster thumb shows. Oh, let me say that the date on the side is not the release date for the film, just the date that this poster was found. Still no official word on if it is real or a fan made one based off the Japanese one that has been spread amongst the interwebs. Who knows any more in the day of photoshop where even real images look like they are photoshop fakes. Read More...

Total Link PWNage
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 1st of April 2008 - 09:40 PM ]
Legend Of Zelda Movie Trailer Premiere Ok, so I could have the largest dick in the universe and report this as 100% real, but I am not. In fact, I've been trolling around to find real stuff to report on, but alas, today is the day that everyone goes above and beyond to pull a prank. For F*cks sake, some of these "Joke" ideas are good enough to be made real; like the Bard class for WoW. But no, everyone has got to have their turn at teasing the world only to kick them in the virtual nuts by saying ha-f*cking-ha. I mean, I like a joke more than the next guy, but when you go to extreme lengths like what you will see below, it is no longer a good joke but just harmful. Read More...
