So, I'll get this out there first. I have never played the game before. I've also never seen anyone else play it. So, I have no clue what the game was about and all the little things that could be wrong with the film. It is a Video Game film, so there is already going to be something that most people hate about it. At least fans of the game. Just thought I'd start off with that so you all knew where I was coming from before watching this trailer.
That being said. As should be obvious, the trailer has popped up on YouTube. It is below as well. Foxmovies.com still has it listed as releasing on October 17th this year as well. But no official synopsis about the film from them at least. I'm sure there is stuff on IMDB though.
After watching it though, this looks to be like it will be a great film. Action looks nice. The general story I was able to gather from the trailer seems pretty tight. Even the basic effects look pretty kick ass. As is most likely the case, it is based off the game story, but even if it is only based on it, it looks good as a film. Now lets look at those last words. "as a film"
Kind of moving away from the normal just post up the news and leave it this time. Get read for the rant.

I hate, HATE, when people judge a film based off their experiences with a game. Or a book for that matter. Or a comic. HATE it! It will never be the same thing that you experienced or enjoyed. Unless you are the director and writer for the film. It is someone else's interpretation of the film. The way you should go to see these films is to ignore what you know and try it as a new version of something. Every time I read that someone hated a film because it went against cannon, I want to beat the shit out of them. Things need to be changed for a film. If they took the script straight from Resident Evil the game and used it 100%, you would have had 2 hours of silence and no music. Occasionally there would be a little bit of dialog, but not as much needed for a film.
I will say that there are horrible movies made based on Video Games. House of the Dead the movie was the biggest pile of shit I have seen in a long time. But I liked Doom as a film. AS A FILM. Feel special when directors and writers put little nods to the cannon in the film. They are not making a game movie, they are just making a movie. They are not making a book movie, they are just making a movie. So, please don't judge the merit of a film based on what you already know. Cause if we all did that, no one would want to see the new Batman films because the old shows used hokey catch phrases and others has bat-nipples. Just as an example.

Sorry you had to sit through that. Just needed to air that out.
