Interview With Obsidian's Chris Avellone
by Fred Buell [ Wednesday, 20th of March 2013 - 06:33 PM ]
The last few months I have been emailing back and forth with Chris Avellone; Co-Founder of Obsidian Entertainment; conducting an interview over email. This has culminated in one of the most in-depth, and amazing interviews I have done, or seen anywhere. Enjoy. Aggrogamer: First let's talk about the old days. You started off at Black Isle with Brian Fargo and a lot of the guys at Obsidian working on the Fallout titles and some of the Gold Seal DnD games. How was it helping shape modern RPGs at the time? E3 2012 Hands On: Neverwinter
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 13th of June 2012 - 11:29 PM ]
Talk about another title that wasn't on my radar until I got a chance to sit down and actually have some good hands on with. The title in the instance is Neverwinter. Another attempt at making the perfect version of Dungeons&Dragons into an interactive video game. In this attempt though, I feel that they are just about spot on with what I was able to play. Just as a heads up, I was only able to get handsie with the Wizard class, although it felt more like a Sorcerer. The first thing I have to say that impressed me was the fact that the game deviates from the "tab" based combat system and takes on a very active based one. Read More...

by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 20th of June 2011 - 04:37 PM ]
David, Corey and Brian are back at it to talk about this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. First, they wrap up what they've been playing outside of the show floor - including Dungeon Siege III, Dungeons And Dragons: Daggerdale, Alice: The Madness Returns, Duke Nukem Forever, Final Fantasy III, 4 Elements and of course, Brian's update on how many hours he's put into Persona 4. Our Care/Don't Care segment goes commando with an all-E3 focus, which is also our main topic.  I will say that our talk went on a bit with the sheer number of topics that presented themselves from E3. Dungeons and Dragons - Daggerdale Review
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 10th of June 2011 - 09:14 PM ]
I've been waiting along time for a new Dungeons and Dragons game to hit store shelves. My wish was finally granted with Atari and Bedlam Games release of Daggerdale.  A D&D 4th edition title that boasted 4 player online play, hours of dungeons and a return to the Forgotten Realms and the world of Faerun in epic proportions.  Well, it looks like Bedlam and Atari really missed the mark on this one - by a longshot. We will begin our story with the challenges faced simply to acquire a copy of the game, I went to 4 different stores only to be told that it was only available on the Xbox Marketplace for download. Atari Announces Dungeons And Dragons: Daggerdale
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 23rd of December 2010 - 07:24 PM ]
Looks like Atari is breaking out the D20's. I'm a big D&D fan so any news of the franchise coming back to life is always a big plus. It was only this August that Atari was announcing its Neverwinter project for the PC, and now we have another D&D title slated for a 2011 release. Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale is an action packed RPG that will take place in the Dungeons and Dragons Forgotten Realms universe. Dungeons&Dragons: Daggerdale centers on the desperate struggle to defeat the evil Rezlus and his Zhentarim in their attempt to invade and conquer the Dalelands. Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale is an engaging multi-player experience that introduces a riveting narrative and treacherous new characters. Read More...

The Day The Dragon Died :(
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 4th of March 2008 - 08:55 PM ]
Dungeons & Dragons Creator Gary Gygax Dead, 3/4/2008 A sad day indeed. Gary Gygax died today in his home from natural causes at the age of 69. For those who don't know or didn't read the title bar, he was the creator for Dungeons and Dragons. This news was posted by his son, Ernie Gygax, through the Troll Lord Games forum boards and the news has hit many other websites about his demise. But even though he is gone, his legacy will hopefully live on like Achilles. Before anyone starts to say, how does this relate to video games, his work is what was used to inspire so many of the games you enjoy today. Read More...
