Review: The Amazing Spider-Man
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of July 2012 - 11:12 PM ]
It's summer block buster time again in the film industry which means it's also the time we see the video games that coincide with said block busters hitting the shelves. While Marvel missed out on a proper Avengers title, Beenox and Activision made sure that they didn't miss out on a new Spider-Man title. The pair have already churned out the last couple of rather decent titles for the franchise so why not one for the film. Let's see how their faired in a genre that is usually know for making slop that just milks the films for more money. Read More...

Review: Inversion
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of July 2012 - 03:55 PM ]
Inversion is a game I've been extremely hyped for since I first saw it at E3 2011. It's an action 3rd person shooter that allows you to also use gravity as a weapon, amongst other things, to fight your way through a post-alien-invasion world. Sounds new and interesting, but with a sneaky release date during this year's E3 how good could the game be? Well let me give you my ten cents on Inversion. Story Everything seems nice and normal for Davis and Leo, the main characters for the game, until out of nowhere an invasion from what is a human "alien" invasion. Read More...

Review: Ship Simulator Extremes
by Fred Buell [ Monday, 2nd of July 2012 - 11:15 PM ]
I started playing Ship Simulator Extremes with an open mind. Partly because I wasn't sure if this was going the pure Sim route with me only free riding a boat or the MS Flight route with a campaign and missions you can take. It took the latter with a campaign and various scenarios you can choose from the menu, alas the game is looking up, I think. I was wrong. So wrong. Read More...

Indie Game Of The Month: A Valley Without Wind
by Fred Buell [ Thursday, 28th of June 2012 - 06:33 PM ]
For all those lovers of classic action games or side scrolling RPGs; look no further than A Valley Without Wind. When I spoke with the developers from Arcen Games at PAX East last April, they had said they loved the old 2D actioners like Super Metroid, Castlevania and so on. They said the one thing they hate about those games is 'they end.' A Valley Without Wind plays just like the aforementioned games with a hint of MMO and one huge difference. It doesn’t end and the maps a randomly generated. Read More...

E3 2012 Impressions: Dead Space 3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 20th of June 2012 - 11:28 PM ]
Talk about an awesome announcement at this year's E3, Dead Space 3! Yes I am one of those people out there who still love the franchise even though EA is milking it for everything. But Dead Space was one of the games in the recent years that revitalized the survival horror genre for me. Needless to say I did everything I could to fit in a viewing of the game. While originally this was shown behind closed doors at the show, recently the game's Executive Producer (Steve Papoutsis) posted a video showcasing exactly everything we all got to see on the show floor. I was nice enough to include the 20 minute game play footage show casing the single player and co-op for you below. Read More...

E3 2012 Impressions: 007 Legends
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 20th of June 2012 - 08:37 PM ]
I know what you are thinking, why is Activision trying to milk the franchise even more, especially since the last two attempts fizzled out and left a sour taste in a lot of gamers' mouths? It did for me too. So I was a bit sketchy on actually giving 007 Legends my time at E3. But I did and I'll be honest that what I saw should have been the way that the company should have gone in the first place by trying to capture the amazingness that was Golden Eye. So the demo started off with a quick overview of the first "mission" announced base on the film Moonraker. It is a more modern re-telling of the story from the film and is the first of six films that will be in the game's over all storyline. Read More...

E3 2012 Impressions: Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 18th of June 2012 - 05:01 PM ]
It is still no big surprise that Black Ops II was one of the bigger titles being shown at E3 this year. Even with all the gripes I hear about "another Call Of Duty game?" it still had lines snaking and wrapping the Activision booth. So that to me shows that both A), y'all like to bitch just to bitch and B) the fans obviously still want the franchise to continue on. Either way, here's a bit of what you all might have missed out on from the trailers. Before I go into some of the new stuff, it looks to play like *gasp* a CoD game. Read More...

E3 2012 Impressions: The Elder Scrolls Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of June 2012 - 03:53 AM ]
I have to start my impression of Elder Scrolls Online with the disclaimer that I went to check this title out at the behest of the readers on the site. So please forgive me if I speak more in generalities on the game's history and or lore as I just do not know it at all. But at least I have the details and you can all fill in the rest based on that. At least I hope so if you are reading this. But anyways, let's give it a go. Read More...

E3 2012 Impressions: Hitman: Absolution
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of June 2012 - 07:57 PM ]
Talk about a title I wish I would have had a chance to get some real hands on with at E3. Hitman: Absolution ranks right up there with Tomb Raider in level of excitement for Square Enix titles coming out. While it was on the show floor, there was not enough time in the day to play it but I did get to sit through a pretty cool demo that was geared towards showing some of the cool stuff we will get to have Agent 47 do. First and foremost I have to mention the visuals of the game. As to be expected given the six year gap between Blood Money and Absolution they have gone leaps and bounds over what we've seen in any of the previous games. Read More...

Hitman: Absolution Has A Weird Twist On Ruler Wielding Nuns
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of May 2012 - 11:08 PM ]
We've all seen the stereotype of Nuns with rulers to rap on your knuckles when you do something wrong. Hells, some of you probably lived through something like that in your youth. But have you ever wondered what they have to break out for those kids who are too bad ass for that to work, like say, Agent 47? Well we get that answer below in the new Hitman: Absolution trailer that you can see below. I am sure that this has some form of story importance, be it for the new title or older IPs. Read More...

by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 30th of May 2012 - 03:57 PM ]
Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's been a week since the release of Diablo III and we have our first patch and another soon to follow. The patch fixes a few bugs in the Auction House as well as tweaks to the Monk and Witch Doctor class. I'll give you the gist of it, but it's in your best interest to read the official statement on the Diablo III website. Monks active skill rune "Tranquility" for Serenity has had its duration cut down to 1 second. The "Physical Damage" Preferred Stats option in the Auction House for rings has been renamed to "Bonus Minimum Physical Damage. Read More...

Review: Starhawk
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of May 2012 - 10:10 PM ]
Starhawk has landed. From what I saw on all the social media sites, it must have been one of the most anticipated games to come to the PlayStation. One could kind of view it as a sequel to Warhawk, in spirit, but with a focus on single player this time out and not just multiplayer. Let's just jump right in and find out what I think of the game so you can decide to drop your money or not. The Story In the future humans start to move out into the galaxy and do what they do best, harvest natural resources and cause wars over energy. Only issue this time is that the main and most valuable source of energy, Rift Energy, also has the side effect of mutating humans into something worse. Read More...

Review: Prototype 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 8th of May 2012 - 08:52 PM ]
It's been a long wait but Prototype 2 has finally landed to the enjoyment of all of us fans from the first game. It's not every game where you get to power bomb someone from atop some of the tallest buildings in the country but this is totally one of them. It has been three years in the works and there have been other titles out like it since, so does Prototype 2 hold up to the franchise's already well set bar. Let's find out. Story It's been fourteen months since the events of Prototype. Read More...

Call Of Duty: Black Ops II Officially Announced Now
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of May 2012 - 04:45 PM ]
When are publishers and studios going to realize that they cannot trust humans with sensitive information? Call Of Duty: Black Ops II was technically announced before the company made the announcement or gave us the announcement trailer. Retailers who got information early let things slip. Game sites that received information in terms to prep the news let things "leak." I swear if Treyarch and Activision ran things like the governments they make games for we'd be seeing quite a few unmarked graves around the globe. But I digress. Read More...
