PAX East Hands-On: Spec Ops: The Line
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 09:48 PM ]
At PAX East I got to try out a little bit of the single player campaign for Spec Ops: The Line, and had a great interview with one of the developers. I really enjoyed the demo at PAX East. It was very smooth and had responsive controls. There events where you had a chance to negotiate with your enemies, but if things went sour you had to reap the consequences. For instance one group of enemies had a hostage and was threatening to kill him. Instead of waiting for them to assassinate him, I made a quick decision to kill the enemies and save my team mate's life. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Aliens: Colonial Marines
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 05:28 PM ]
I had the privilege to speak with the senior producer of Aliens: Colonial Marines at PAX East over the weekend. They were also giving a demo of the Multiplayer. The Multiplayer was very team oriented and forced you to work together to defeat your opponents. The only mode we played was Team Deathmatch. The marines would all huddle around each other and pick off the Xenomorphs as they tried to separate the marines. One on one a marine has a very high chance of losing to a Xenomorph mainly due to its "pounce" ability. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Wreckateer
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 9th of April 2012 - 10:28 PM ]
At PAX East I got to try out Microsoft's Kinect for the first time ever, and the first game I played on it was Wreckateer. Wreckateer is an XBLA game that revolves all around destroying castles (hey, who doesn't love wrecking stuff?) The plot behind destroying castles is that you are a part of a demolition crew who is hired by the king to destroy abandoned and unwanted castles that have been overrun by goblins. Stepping forward and putting your hands together loads up the catapult, as you step back the catapult draws back, the more you move backwards the more powerful the shot. You then spread your arms apart and the shot takes off. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Lollipop Chainsaw
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 9th of April 2012 - 04:36 PM ]
During PAX East I got to get some playtime with Lollipop Chainsaw and interviewed the legendary Suda 51. Lollipop Chainsaw had some very smooth and tight controls, chaining attacks between kicking and swinging the chainsaw was simple enough to button mash if you wish, but at the same time complex enough to satisfy those who frown upon the mashing of buttons. The demo started off in a farm-like area, where some good ol' zombies popped up and begged for me to slay them (not really, but I could tell they were asking for it). Every time zombies pop up there is a counter on-screen that tells you exactly how many are there and need to kill. Read More...

This BioShock Infinite Heavy Hitter Is Screaming For Vengeance
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 28th of March 2012 - 09:23 PM ]
Here we go with the final "Heavy Hitter" for BioShock Infinite. Yep, the fourth and final that they are revealing as a hardcore enemy that is just below sub-boss and above mook in the game. We've gone over the Motorized Patriot, the Handyman and the Boys of Silence so far. Now we get to look at the Siren. Sounds kind of nice at first, then you find out that she essentially a healer that can resurrect all of the enemies you've already killed with but a scream. I'm not sure if this is going to be one of those creatures that inspire the panic to kill right away or just plain get annoying after killing everything in a room only to have her bring them all back. Do We Really Need More Reasons To Buy Prototype 2?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 25th of March 2012 - 01:32 AM ]
How many reasons do you need to pick up Prototype 2? For me it was the sheer fact that there is a sequel to the game coming out that sold it for me. Then again I am a huge fan of the first and have seen nothing but good things for PT2. Those of you on the fence may want to take a look at the below trailer which will show you another 11 reasons why you should pre-order the game or give it a go when it finally launches. I'll be honest here that none of these reasons would be a 100% lock in for me if I was new to the franchise. I don't expect it to be for you either. Read More...

Have A Good Look At The Secret World's Character Creation
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 22nd of March 2012 - 05:11 PM ]
It's been a little quiet on The Secret World front for a while. I think we are due some new info or visuals. Don't you? Funcom did recently have a showcasing of the character creation system and a bit of actual game play, but it was for press only. Most of you out there probably didn't get a chance to check it out, I know I didn't. That is until now. Funcom must have felt bad that got to see the new stuff so they up and decided to post part of the presentation online. Read More...

BioShock Infinite Using Silent Alarms Now With Their New Heavy Hitter
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 21st of March 2012 - 09:46 PM ]
Last week we got a few videos showing a few of the suped-up enemies of BioShock Infinite. The Handyman and Motorized Patriot to be specific. Keeping things going here, Irrational has brought us yet another "Heavy Hitter" from the game. These ones are called the Boys of Silence. At first glance they don't seem to imposing and only a bit on the bizarre side of things. This is BioShock after all. What is interesting her though is that these seem to be what will be taking over for those damned alarms from the first two titles. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 20th of March 2012 - 09:31 PM ]
So I know it may be a little late in the game and that most of you have already seen Quantic Dream's new Tech Demo titled Kara but I still felt like you needed to have my opinion on it. If you feel otherwise, why did you click the link here? But in all seriousness, if you haven't seen the demo yet I have included it just below. Take a look and then continue on for the rest of these ramblings. So while this is just a tech demo showing off the amazing talent of Quantic Dream one would have to say that it is extremely impressive. Read More...

BioShock Infinite Bringing Out The Heavy Hitters
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 14th of March 2012 - 09:13 PM ]
With the official release date set now is as good of time as any to start the news and information flowing for BioShock Infinite. I for one am glad because I was getting tired of watching the same E3 2011 footage re-hashed and produced as something new. So I thank you Irrational for giving us a look at the first two new enemies we will be facing in the game amongst what looks like a decent sized list. First up, in case you didn't see it last week, is the Motorized Patriot. I'll admit when I first saw this thing I was a little underwhelmed at first. Read More...

BioShock Infinite Has A Release Date
by Matt Waitt [ Friday, 2nd of March 2012 - 11:12 PM ]
The guys over at Irrational Games have just put up a write up on their website that quite simply says "BioShock Infinite Release Date Announced." Excuse me while I go squeal like a little school girl at a Justin Beiber concert. Ladies and gentlemen it gives me great honor to announce to you guys that the release date of BioShock Infinite is October 16th, 2012 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Mark your calendars, quit your jobs, and put your social lives on hold. Ken Levine said that "After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition…BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can't wait for fans to get their hands on it. New Borderlands 2 Trailer Brings The 'WubWub'
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 27th of February 2012 - 05:38 PM ]
The guys over at Gearbox Software have released a new trailer for their upcoming sequel to their smash hit Borderlands simply titled Borderlands 2. I loved playing Borderlands, the questlines; the stories and the loot were all hilariously amazing. Not to mention it has one of my favorite zombie stories ever, Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC which is just how a zombie story should be. The new trailer features a lot of "Wub Wub" dubstep garbage, but it can be easily muted via the volume bar on your player. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Ninety Four: DLC Evolution and Expectations
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 22nd of February 2012 - 11:14 PM ]
The Aggrocast returns to its roots with the typical format. Matt, Corey and Brian first talk up what they've been playing - including Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Tiny Tower, Rock Band 3 and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Care / Don't Care this week moves to a shorter four-question format, tackling some recent news from the world of gaming. The segment ends with an important discussion about the situation revolving around Jennifer Hepler (from Bioware). Our main topic focuses on downloadable content (DLC) - where it originated, how it has evolved and how our expectations have changed over the recent past. Read More...

Here's Why You Should Get The Darkness II
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 9th of February 2012 - 05:52 PM ]
With the recent release of The Darkness II, I feel obligated to convince you guys to give this game a shot. I recently had a conference Q&A with the developers of The Darkness II. It was a fun and exciting new experience for me to sit down and listen to what challenges they faced while making the game and what are their personal favorites about the game. The Darkness II takes place two years after the first game, Jackie has gone from a mob hit man to the don of the family. Jackie has had the Darkness subdued for a couple years until he is attacked by an organization called "The Brotherhood" who know all of the Darkness' strengths and its weakness. Read More...

by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 8th of February 2012 - 10:53 PM ]
This episode of the Aggrocast tries out a new feature/format called Convince Me. Brian is joined by David and Matt who have the unfortunate task to attempt to convince Brian that he wants to play The Darkness II and Twisted Metal. The discussions heat up on these soon-to-be-released games. Will I be convinced? Listen and find out. Not everything is serious business. Read More...
