Comic Con '09 Hands-On Impressions of Brütal Legend
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 28th of July 2009 - 01:39 AM ]
Brütal Legend Take Two As you may have known if you follow Corey or myself on Twitter at all, you would have seen how mush the PR train was rolling at Comic Con this year. It was Huge! But it wasn't just about the free stuff they were giving out or events they were putting on. They also had an updated version of the demo for this game. They also had the game on a few more platforms for us all to take in. Not to mention the fact that they had more kiosks to play on, thus shorter lines and waiting than at E3. Read More…

Preview Night Comic Con 2009, has come and gone. While San Diego cleans up after the mess that was left behind from the geek's the world over, I figured I'd give you all a daily recap of what happened during the con as well as a little of the after hours stuff that we at Aggrogamer were able to partake in. By we, myself and Corey. But we still left a heavy presence behind. Read More…

Comic Con '09 Hands-On Impressions of Dante's Inferno
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 27th of July 2009 - 09:47 PM ]
Dante's Inferno So at E3 this year, we were all given some great teases as to what to expect for Dante's Inferno from EA. All in the form of an extended trailer and a little bit of watching the designers play through a level showing off their game. No solid hands on experience, but it was still a great sight to see. But it did leave me wanting more to really get a feel for the game. Something EA was obviously waiting to let people do at Comic Con. Read More…

The Force Unleashed Once More
by Jesse [ Sunday, 26th of July 2009 - 03:08 PM ]
September 16th of last year saw Lucasarts release the much anticipated Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Right from the get-go, TFU was all about giving players a more thorough Force-wielding experience. Powers like Force Push and Force Lightning could be used in ways far beyond anything we’d ever seen before in a Star Wars game. Following the games release though, Lucasarts supported the title by creating several downloadable packages. There were two costume packs that added several new costumes for The Apprentice, as well as a number of alternate character skins. Read More…

The World Still at War
by Jesse [ Friday, 24th of July 2009 - 06:07 PM ]
Whether you love them or hate them, Activision and Treyarch have to be commended on their DLC support behind Call of Duty: World at War. Presently it looks like August is going to see more of that support with the release of a third map pack. As with the previous two downloadable packs, the third set of maps will feature 3 standard multiplayer maps, Battery, Breach, and Revolution, as well as a Nazi Zombie map entitled Der Riese. Battery is said to take place on an armored island surrounded by anti-ship mines. Breach will be an all out firefight set on the streets of Berlin, Germany. Read More…

The Ultimate Gaming Wishlist
by Jesse [ Friday, 24th of July 2009 - 06:26 AM ]
It’s no big secret that I’m about as much into comic books as I am video games, which is saying something. I’ve always felt that comics and video games are natural extensions of one another. That is why it’s easy for properties to cross over so that we have games that have been adapted from comics and vice versa. Marvel Comics is probably the best example of using a comic to create a video game. They have inspired the most adaptions. Read More…

Warchief we have found a director!
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 07:55 PM ]
As nearly everyone in the World...of Warcraft knows that Blizzard and Legendary Pictures want to make a movie adaption of the highly popular MMO World of Warcraft. Two days before the San Diego Comic-Con, Blizzard and Legendary Pictures have announced that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the upcoming Warcraft movie. For those who do not know who Sam Raimi is, and shame on you for not knowing, he directed such films as the cult classic Evil Dead and the Spider-Man trilogy, which has broken box-office records around the world and was nominated for five Academy Awards.  He also produced 30 Days Of Night, as well as wrote and directed Drag Me To Hell. DSi and Wii Ware Releases for 7/20/09
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 22nd of July 2009 - 03:21 PM ]
Wii Ware as a platform has lead a dubious life since its inception a little over a year ago.  There have been the occasional hits like Lost Winds and World of Goo, but those are the exception rather than the rule to titles like Family Pirate Party and Pong Toss! Frat Party Games.  With over 100 titles and with more misses than hits, many have speculated that the Wii Ware platform would be killed off unceremoniously, much like someone gets played off-stage at the Oscar's.  Well let me tell you something: they may not have the wrong idea! This week, both DSi Ware and Wii Ware received puzzle games with Art Style: Zengage and 5 Spots Party, respectively. The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition Review
by Ben Brody [ Tuesday, 21st of July 2009 - 08:25 PM ]
The Secret of Monkey Island has already come out in 3 editions, the floppy version for the Atari ST, Mac, and PC in 1990, the re-release PC version and Amiga versions in 1991, and the much more widely known CD version in 1992 that featured better audio and a new UI. The most recent fourth version, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is by far the best. It is available for the PC and 360 and features all new graphics as well as brand new voices recorded by the cast of Curse of Monkey Island (aka Monkey Island 3). The music is also redone and was made by the same composer. Read More…

Next 15 Songs for The Beatles: Rock Band Announced
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 21st of July 2009 - 02:08 PM ]
As you may have been able to tell from my E3 Impressions of The Beatles: Rock Band, I am a little excited for this game to arrive on September 9th.  Today, MTV Games and Harmonix gassed up the hype machine and took it for a drive around the neighborhood, releasing the next 15 songs that will be found on-disc whether the game releases.  With 25 of the 45 songs released, I'm sure that means at least 1 more teaser announcement before a full track listing will be issued.  I am definitely excited by the additions of And Your Bird Can Sing, With a Little Help from My Friends and Revolution, but will continue to hold out hope for Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) or really anything from Rubber Soul. Mayhem Preview
by Andy [ Monday, 20th of July 2009 - 11:04 PM ]
With today’s entertainment industry, it’s rarely a surprise when a performer jumps ship and moves from one avenue to another. Be it a singer acting in movies or an heiress releasing an album. Okay maybe that second one wasn’t a great example but the point still stands. In the case of rappers, Ice-T, LL Cool J, and Ice Cube are just a few examples of successful musical artists who have transitioned into movie stars and following in their footsteps is Tyrese Gibson. The former model and rapper has gone on to star in a number of major films including 2 Fast 2 Furious, Flight of the Phoenix, Death Race, and Transformers and its sequel Revenge of the Fallen. But now he’s taking an unexpected turn and expanding into the world of comics. Read More…

Gaming As A Sport Further Legitimized
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 20th of July 2009 - 10:58 PM ]
Pro gamers' league signs big deal with Electronic Arts Another blow to your mom's nagging about how video games will never get you any where just flew onto the scene. EA and Major League Gaming have just penned and signed a new deal hooking up EA as a major sponsor for their gaming tournaments. Something that will totally draw more than their average 600,000 people they get now and 5000 to 7000 that show to the live events. Not to mention to bring some big pull with EA Sports and other franchises under their belt now being added to the list of titles to be played for cash and prizes. With the first major event starting at the end of next month. Read More…
