The Love Child Of Square Enix & Pop Cap Games
by Corey Dockendorf [ Thursday, 24th of September 2009 - 09:12 PM ]
At TGS Square Enix announced today, their new Puzzle/RPG named Gyromancer. It's basically a highly addictive Bejewled PopCap game with the RPG fantasy twist from the best in the business. Gyromancer will be available for XBox 360 as well as Steam. Both PopCap and Square Enix have collaborated before, in Japanese games, but this is more of a creative avenue for both teams. Gamers will play a Sorcerer of the Godseye, named Rivel, and traverse through ten different stages, collecting powerful beasts to summon throughout the adventure. Pokemon? Read More…

TGS Fantasies Are Given
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of September 2009 - 07:41 PM ]
As was to be expected in the Final Fantasy Fan capital of the world, Japan, and at the game show specifically in their location, Tokyo Game Show, there is some new eye candy for the franchise. All in the form of shots of the specific Final Fantasy bundled PS3 and a nice shiny new game trailer for Final Fantasy XIV. Something to get the salivary glands overworking for us all that couldn't make TGS yet still wanted to see something from Square Enix. The themed PS3, seen below, is a bit "girlie" if I do say so. It's been months since Plants vs. Zombies has been released and you still haven't picked it up? Maybe the economy has affected you more than most people realize? Well for whatever the reason is, you do not have an excuse to not be playing Plants vs Zombies. Today Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Wii will drop $50 to $199.99 this Sunday the 27th. This coming on the heels of the PS3 Slim release and XBox 360 Elite price drop to $299.99. They also announced a traveling expedition of games to be played at some smaller events, as well as the release date of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. After three years on the market, it normally wouldn't be such a surprise, but what makes it so is that this is coming from Nintendo. Read More…

Another Gift From The Gods
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 08:20 PM ]
It had been rumored since the before the official announcement of the God of War Compilation. The inclusion of the God of War III demo on disc with the first two games. Then the announcement came and there was no mention at all. In fact Sony wouldn't even comment on if it was going to be or not. Which left all of us God of War fans wondering if we would get an early play of the game, outside of going to a convention. Well, today, it has been confirmed that the demo we've seen and played at E3, Comic Con, and PAX is totally going to be included on the game disc for the Compilation. A nice little bonus if I do say so. Read More…

The minds at Eidos and behind Batman Arkham Asylum just don't give up. Last week with the Insane Night Map Pack and now this week with the Prey in the Darkness Map Pack. Well at least this week if you live in the United Kingdom or are willing to download across country lines. At least this is all according to the press release that was sent out about this new map. Hopefully it will be a globally released thing. In any instance, these two new challenges sound just as amazing as the last two that were released. Read More…

Review: Need For Speed Shift
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 12:01 PM ]
Let's be honest, NFS Undercover was bad, and EA knew it, that's why they handed development of the latest game in the series to Slightly Mad Studios, who had previously made the GTR series. The game encounters problems that aren't necessarily it's own fault. The driving is good, great even, the issue is that both Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 are coming out around the corner, and with most people's opinions about Need For Speed soured by the last iteration, it'll be hard to convince them to go with Shift. That said, EA does a really good job. It's nice to see EA ditch the ridiculous story mode (IE: undercover cop looking to bust an illegal drug trade by infiltrating some illegal street racing club) in favor of what a racing game should be about: THE RACING. Nintendo DLC For The Week Of 9/21/09
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 22nd of September 2009 - 05:39 PM ]
Another week of download releases by Nintendo means another week of low-hanging fruit for criticism on the choices for DSiWare downloads. Also included in this week is another Commodore 64 game for Virtual Console. At this point, I wish there was a defensible position to take on some of these choices for DLC. We have five releases this week across the three platforms. The lone Virtual Console title, Last Ninja 2, is from the Commodore 64. Read More…

Calling All MMOs
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 22nd of September 2009 - 02:14 PM ]
Finally some great video on what playing a game of APB is going to feel like. At least if you can find a group of people online that are ok with having a good time and not trying to compete against each other to shame one another. People that you can imagine in control in this video. Like say for instance, the person that tried to use a car to take out someone. Or the person who was walking, looked over, and said, "Oh Shit! A Car! Read More…

Review: Champions Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of September 2009 - 08:31 PM ]
Hello and welcome to Millennium City. Don your tights, cape, and/or power armor and take up the good fight to save the city and in turn, the world. That is the premise of Cryptic Studios' new MMORPG Champions Online. Champions being a very popular table top RPG system and Cryptic being best known for their City of Heroes/Villains MMO. How could this paring go wrong at all? It didn't in the very least. Read More…

Wii HD? Head Of Square Enix Spills The Beans
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 21st of September 2009 - 05:02 PM ]
Well well well, Looks like the rumors are now leaking from the higher up's. During a Fincanial Times interview at the Tokyo Game Show with Yoichi Wada- President of Square Enix, he mentioned that the three platforms (XBox 360, PlayStation3, and Wii) will join the same playing field by 2011. He expects Nintendo will release the new Wii that year which could contain similar features (see HD) as it's competing consoles. Also he made mention of a possible new controller scheme for the Wii system. Since he was in a chatty mood, he also spoke about the rival systems and their adaptation of Motion sensing technology, saying that “Present game machines already have a lot of functions: they are a network terminal, a Blu-ray or DVD player, and a gaming machine. Review: WET
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 21st of September 2009 - 12:37 PM ]
Are you ready to get WET? Artificial Mind and Movement, the game's developers, sure hope you are. WET has been in the works for a long time, originally set to release under Sierra, but eventually dropped when acquired by Activision. It finally found its home amongst Bethesda Softworks. So will you dip your hands into this title and get them WET? WET, this is a shortened term for wetworks, which involves a messy job that involves hands being wet with blood. This is where our heroine, Rubi Malone (voiced by Eliza Dushku), comes into the picture. Read More…

Dexter Comes to Your iPhone
News Partner Article
by Andy [ Monday, 21st of September 2009 - 06:14 AM ]
I like Dexter. I know it's wrong to like him, what with all the murdering he does and stuff, but as one of TV's most intriguing antiheroes, you have to give him credit for being one of the most likeable serial killers in the history of television. When I first heard about Dexter: The Game all [... Read More…

Torchlight - The Vanquisher Trailer
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 19th of September 2009 - 06:29 AM ]
Runic Games and their publishing partner, Perfect World Entertainment, released a trailer this week demonstrating the power and grace of the third and final class, The Vanquisher. For those of you that have followed Aggrogamer since E3, we've been big fans of Torchlight and I believe this trailer is a great example of what this title can bring you. This woman is part soldier, part ninja and all explosive. Mainly a ranged weapons user, she can fire on one target, use a spread to hit many or use the environment, bouncing off walls or going around corners. Read More…
