As you may have known if you follow Corey or myself on Twitter at all, you would have seen how mush the PR train was rolling at Comic Con this year. It was Huge! But it wasn't just about the free stuff they were giving out or events they were putting on. They also had an updated version of the demo for this game. They also had the game on a few more platforms for us all to take in. Not to mention the fact that they had more kiosks to play on, thus shorter lines and waiting than at E3. But that's just a nice little bonus.
To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference between the two versions I've now played of the game. The controls seemed a bit tighter, but that could have been the fact that I have given it a good play about before. It could be that some of the movement animations and physics where improved. I really can't gauge. But in any instance, they were still pretty good.
The visuals, while not as sharp and twisted as Dante's Inferno, still feed well into the whole metal theme. Not too over the top, but still perfect for the concept behind the game. Think of stuff that Rob Zombie has drawn with a bit of the World of Warcraft cartoon added to it. Or just look up screen shots from any of the older articles.
One thing I was hoping for this time around was a louder sound system showing off the dialog and audio of the game. You know there has to be not only some great humorous banter, but some truly epic music mixed into the game. There are so many metal legends and voice acting legends on this game, this is going to be one of the other larger selling points of this game. But to no avail, screaming fan boys drown out all hope on that. I also didn't want to be that douche to turn on the closed captions for the game and take up even more time on the kiosk. But that was me just being a nice guy.
My overall thoughts on this game is still the same from 2 months ago, I'm going to be getting this game on "Rocktober" 13th. I am a fan of the comedy of Jack Black as well as most of the people involved with this game. It is also an interesting type of story to add to the action platformer genre. Also, any game that has GWAR behind it has to be just as over the top and awesome. Yea, that's the fan boy in me there.
