The fantasy is back and it is never final as Square-Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will have a global PC release date of September 30th. For those who will get the Collector's Edition, they will be able to access the game eight days prior to the Standard Edition. The prices for the Standard and Collector's Edition are $49.99 and $74.99, respectively, which is really not that bad for what they offer in the Collector's Edition. Read More...

Now here is a title that I was overly excited to get to look at, and that is all I planned on happening this year at E3. Little did I know we would actually get to play hands on this up-and-coming bad-ass "sequel" in the Final Fantasy franchise. When I first heard about Nier from Square-Enix, I was intrigued. I wondered at what new type of games we could expect from the Final Fantasy giant. Maybe a new franchise or something the like. Which from the below gameplay trailer, I am a bit let down on the hopes of seeing anything truly new and innovative. Then again, I could be pleasantly surprised in the not to distant future, but from the following I doubt it will change greatly before April 22nd when Nier launches. Yes you read the headline correctly, Final Fantasy I and II are both coming to the iPhone! With the movement for Mobile devices becoming a gaming force to be reckoned with, we are seeing the larger games quickly making their way into our hot little hands. Square Enix announced on it's Facebook page as well as on Twitter that it would be releasing the first two Final Fantasy titles for the iPhone and iPod Touch. There are practically no details regarding the game, but all we know so far is it's "Coming Soon" but with the below screen shots, it doesn't look like we are too far off. Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited. So the announcement was made for when we would all get to have the fun the Japanese and importers will get here in a few weeks. So we were all promised a big announcement from Square Enix about Final Fantasy XIII today (11/13/09). I'm sure we all figured it would drop out to us sometime later in the day. Like near the close of the day. But surprise surprise, look what we all get to look at early from Square Enix. A "developer" diary of sorts showcasing some of the action and events from the game. With the launch of the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII coming up here in a little over a month, we should all get ready for the onslaught of spoilers, videos, and screen shots.
