CES 2010: Aggrogamer with GestureTek
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 17th of January 2010 - 06:46 PM ]
With immersion in video games a hot topic at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, we took time out to visit with Vincent John Vincent, Co-Founder and President of GestureTek. GestureTek has been refining and defining camera-based motion capture and control software for two decades.  During our brief time with Vincent we heard about their new software development kit (SDK), which makes creating immersive webcam games a breeze.  I also was able to go “hands-off” with their demo and see this technology up close.Expecting a huge setup, I was surprised to find Vincent simply pulling out a laptop with an embedded webcam. CES 2010: BioShock 2 Multiplayer
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 14th of January 2010 - 12:08 AM ]
At this year's CES in Las Vegas, NV there was loads to show off in terms of hardware. At least as gaming consoles and gaming computers go. But what about some of the software that was shown for all of us gamers? Like a real hands on with the multiplayer of BioShock 2. Not just spiffy videos. Well this was one of the games that was being showcased for all who attended and found there way out to the IGN and Sprint trucks hidden in front of the convention. Let me start off, as I usually do when it comes to multiplayer, not a big fan of it. In fact with this title, I was loathing the fact it was having multiplayer added as it generally ruins the single player game. Read More...

CES 2010: Sixense Takes Motion Control to Next Level
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 13th of January 2010 - 08:42 PM ]
Of all the new technology seen at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, the Sixense TrueMotion motion control system was one of the finest on display.  Sixense had partnered with Razer the month prior and the established gaming peripheral maker wanted to show off the new goods.  Demonstrated on a PC, the sleek black units had much to brag about. The system consists of two black wands and a small tower. The wands have a directional pad and a few action buttons on the face, and while there is a feeling of weight to the device, it is lighter than a Wii wand. Read More...

CES 2010 Impression: Psyko 5.1
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 07:11 PM ]
Psyko Audio may not be the first to release a 5.1 headset and they certainly will not be the last, but Psyko 5.1 was named one of the CES best of 2009. Does this new headset deserve such a title? Well I decided to give them a visit while I am here at CES 2010 and see how well the headphones are shaping up. I met up with James Hildebrandt, CEO and Head of Psyko Audio, and he gave me the rundown on the headset.  The first thing he had me do was listen to some music from the Blue Men Group for a full two minutes as he pointed out where the music was coming from the headset indicator. CES 2010: Tritton Technologies
by Brian Bentley [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 02:26 PM ]
Here at CES 2010, we had the opportunity to stop by and visit with Tritton Technologies to see the "next big thing" in gaming headsets.  Tritton's Aaron Smith took us around the booth giving us a guided tour of the AX-180, AX-720 and the AX-Pro.  He was kind enough to suffer through our questions and a video recording.  The did not have their upcoming release of a wireless version of the AX-180 at this show, but look for it at PAX East.  So, take a gander at the video Binh recorded and leave your comments on the products below. CES 2010: nVidia Press Conference
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 9th of January 2010 - 05:02 AM ]
As CES 2010 is now under way, so are the many news and notes that are coming out of the convention. The first event that Brian and I went to was the nVidia Press Conference. As we went to sit down we were given 3D glasses for a part of the conference. As the wait finally ended and the music started to kick into high gear, so did the montage that nVidia put together. The montage began with video games and movies but wasn't in 3D yet. After the montage was over, the President of nVidia, Jen-Hsun Huang came out and talked about not only the evolution of desktop PC (personal computers) but also the evolution of portable PC in general. Review: Wii ElectroFlow Inductive Charger
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 26th of October 2009 - 03:09 PM ]
Since the Wii has come to market and the need for keeping those WiiMotes charged and useable has been a concern for hardcore gamers. So then the rechargeable AA batteries got pulled back out and WiiMote specific chargers began to get pumped onto the scene. Some were good. Some just horrid. But they all kept things working as long as it was just the WiiMote you had and nothing else. Not even the gel jacket to protect TV's around the world. These chargers were workable as long as you didn't care taking the extra time to slide out and disassemble everything to charge the batteries or swap in new ones. Read More...

Fat Princess Gets Pushed Back
by Ben Brody [ Monday, 22nd of June 2009 - 01:36 PM ]
So Fat Princess was promised in June. And flying cars were promised in the 1960's. Some promises just can't be kept. The game was one of the more anticipated PSN titles and has been enjoying a successful beta. The game is essentially a "save the princess game". You and a merry band of teammates have to storm a castle of whom your enemy has kidnapped the princess. They've been feeding her cake though, making her fat, and thus making it harder for you to escape with her. Many have considered Fat Princess to be Sony's Castle Crashers, and the gameplay supports up to 32 players instead of just 4. Read More...

Alright, Enough Already
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 29th of April 2009 - 04:29 PM ]
More Wii Accessories Well it looks like the Wii is now creating it's very own fitness facilities right in your home. I understand the popularity of the Wii Fit, I mean its innovative, it's new, it's healthy, but really these items will be put in a closet or stashed somewhere after a few months of boredom if more games cannot be used with them. First up is the WiiDum, 1.7lb weights that cradles the controller ever so softly. Read More...

Darkness Creeps Into The Void
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 23rd of January 2009 - 10:04 PM ]
Dark Void Game Play Videos Not much to really report on here. The short and skinny of it is that Capcom has brought out some more game play videos for their new Sci-Fi Action-Adventure game. All of which are videos that got glanced over by all the other big things that Capcom was bringing out at CES. But what kind of a news guy would I be if I let something like this fall to the curbside. So with no further gilding the lilly, such a great phase, I will give you some more footage of Dark Void. by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 20th of January 2009 - 06:48 PM ]
Miragel Interviews Hades On CES So there was a lot that happened at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV. Quite a bit if you kept up with my articles and updates while the event was going on. More than I could make words work for. At least typed words. In that instance, Miragel, seen here on pwned, decided to conduct a small interview on the going ons of CES. We cover everything from the lack of a real gaming section at the show to some of the cool little things I saw. Check it out. Read More...

What Lies Beyond The Edge Of Evolution?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 15th of January 2009 - 09:48 PM ]
New Information For Activision's Prototype I'm sure you've heard of Activision's new game Prototype. Right? Well if not, then do I have a treat for you. And it is a very tasty one at that too. Full of Blood, Violence, Infections, and well what looks like a ton of fun. I do mean A LOT of fun. More of that below, but let me give you a quick recap of this game and what I was able to scrounge up at the THX booth at CES 2009. There is a plethora of fun screen shots and video clips that I got for your viewing pleasure, but there is a bit more that you won't be able to take away from just those. Like for instance, why the hell was the only way to catch any of this at CES was to get into the THX booth? Read More...
