If You Thought Zombies Were Bad, Wait Until Evolve
by Dakota B. Johnson [ Monday, 24th of February 2014 - 06:02 PM ]
It is time to "Evolve." From the creators of Left 4 Dead comes an exciting new first and third-person shooter; Evolve. One might ask: how can a game be both? Well in first-person mode three other players and you team up to take down a monster, while the other person controls the monster from a third-person perspective. Some of these monsters look absolutely terrifying. My favorite monster so far is a 30 foot tall snarling beast with spikes. Read More...

My Fallout 4 Wishlist
by Dakota B. Johnson [ Monday, 17th of February 2014 - 08:00 PM ]
Here Is A Short List Of What I Think Should Be In Fallout 4. With the latest news/rumors about Bethesda not actually developing the mysterious Fallout 4, but the lesser known Battlecry Studios is to helm the job, I thought I would give a short list of things I would like to see in the upcoming title. First off, I would like to see something totally different. I love Fallout 3 and New Vegas because of their differences more than their similarities. Read More...

Evolve Is Not Really Evolving Multiplayer, But It Works
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of February 2014 - 10:00 PM ]
We have some new details on Evolve, the upcoming 4v1 shooter from Turtle Rock Studios. Trailer and screen shots galore. So when I hear a game is going to be multiplayer heavy as is the case with Evolve, I normally cringe. I also usually think of just giving a blanket pass on the title as well. But with what I have been seeing and reading from Evolve my interest has been piqued again. Just in case you don't know what the game is about here's a short history lesson. Originally it was going to be published by THQ and was called Wild. Read More...

Microsoft Picks Up Gears Of War. What Does That Mean?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of January 2014 - 10:00 PM ]
Microsoft purchases the Gears Of War franchise from Epic Games this week and tasks Black Tusk Studios to continue the franchise. What does this exactly mean though? All of you Gears Of War fans should be dancing in the streets right now. While yes the news is just about Microsoft picking up the franchise it also makes it completely obvious that there will be a Gears Of War coming to the Xbox One and going forward. So the franchise isn't just dead in the water after the lackluster acceptance of Gears Of War: Judgment. So really good news for those fans as the franchise is going to have a chance to get back to its success from GoW3. Read More...

My Favorite Games Of Last Gen [Part 1]
by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 28th of January 2014 - 04:20 PM ]
A short list of some of my favorite games of last gen consoles. With the hype of the next gen consoles finally dying down, I decided to take a look back at some of my favorite games from last generation and reminisce about what drew me to those games. Or, I could just sit down and play them again and relive the gloriousness. That sounds like a great idea actually. I think I'll do that after I'm finished here. Read More...

Review: The Harvest
by Kenton Winkfield [ Thursday, 19th of December 2013 - 06:27 PM ]
Review Of The Harvest By South African Indie Developers Luma Arcade Are you busy and looking for a game to play that doesn't require all your attention? Is solitaire not intensive enough to fill that free time? Do you not have a mouse readily available to play most games and are left with only one free hand and a trackpad? Well that sucks, but maybe you'll want to look into The Harvest. The Harvest is a top-down action RPG set in the future from South African Developers, Luma Arcade. Read More...

E3 2013 Impression: Mad Max
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 21st of June 2013 - 11:00 PM ]
I was born when Mad Max 2 hit the big screen and I was barely four when Beyond Thunderdome came out, but that still didn't stop me from enjoying the films, and the NES game, in my youth. You can only imagine my excitement when I saw the announcement trailer for Mad Max during the Sony press conference. Even though it was all CGI, Avalanche Studios had an Alpha build of the game in the Warner Bros. booth to show to all of us eager fans. Read More...

The E3 Daylight Trailer Is Just As Cryptic As The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 9th of June 2013 - 02:45 PM ]
Back during PAX we got a little bit of hands-on with Daylight and the developers were a bit close lipped about some of the specifics even while we were playing the demo. As you move through an abandoned hospital with but your phone for light and direction you encounter cryptic things about the environment that we had to piece together to continue. A nice little feature that isn't all that common in games today and with the below E3 trailer it looks like it is going to move into their PR for the game as well. If you want to call it a trailer, then you can see it below. Read More...

Two New Characters Revealed For Deadpool To Do Stuff With
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 26th of April 2013 - 06:41 PM ]
If your eyes are wide enough, and your screen is too, you can already see that Psylocke and Mr. Sinister have been added to the roster of Marvel characters to have a role in Deadpool: The Game. What kind of role is still to be fully determined, but I think it is safe to assume that they will most likely be taking on the role they do in the comics. Or they might not. Who know when it comes to video game tie-ins? Read More...

Get To Your Computers! We Can Pre-Order Deapool: The Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 18th of April 2013 - 08:16 PM ]
If you are looking forward to Deadpool: The Game then you will be happy to know that there is now a release date as well as pre-order bonuses galore for all of us. There are also a few more screen shots of the game but nothing overly revealing or special in terms of news or features. This is starting to concern me as we are approaching the release date quickly and for the most part we have no clue how the game is going to play, only how it is going to look. Anyhow, the point is not to bicker at the moment. It is to let you know that Deadpool will be coming on June 25th this year. Read More...

PAX East Panel: Red5 Studios
by Fred Buell [ Wednesday, 3rd of April 2013 - 08:15 PM ]
This past PAX East 2013 I was lucky enough to be seated in a room with several other members of the press and general attendees to hear about all things Red5. Let's first talk about Red5's Firefall. I first got to play and look at Firefall at last year's PAX East. The game is still in beta and being constantly worked on and taking serious looks at what the fans want in the game. Right off the bat of this presser was informative and entertaining. They have moved away from the previous 'Tier' and 'Level' based system and instead opted for a gear based system. Read More...

PAX East Interview: WildStar
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 08:59 PM ]
Last week I had the pleasure of snagging WildStar's Senior 3D Artist, Stephan Williams, for an interview and demo of Carbine Studio's and NC Soft's upcoming MMORPG. Although he was not able to answer every question we sure hounded him for a solid twenty minutes or so. I was joined with two special guests, TJ Jensen and Erik Gmitter. Together we were blown away by the amazing graphics, animations, and features that they had to show off in the PAX East demo. The story behind WildStar is thus; the home world of the long lost Eldan civilization has just been rediscovered and everyone in the galaxy is racing to find out its secrets. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Daylight
by Kenton Winkfield [ Wednesday, 27th of March 2013 - 04:19 PM ]
I’ve said it before; it's tough not to grab my attention when I get shown a video game. But it is tough to pull me away from one that already has my attention. Zombie Studios showcased their game Daylight at the Astro Headset Booth, which was close to Square Enix, my favorite developer/publisher, and right next to Wizards of the Coast, makers of my favorite TCG, Magic: The Gathering. This is an incredibly difficult location for a game to be showcased if it wants to keep my attention. Zombie Studios had no trouble reaching that feat. Read More...

PAX East Impressions: Guacamelee!
by Fred Buell [ Tuesday, 26th of March 2013 - 11:28 PM ]
This weekend I got to sit down with Graham Smith the co-founder of Drinkbox Studios. He showed me Drinkbox's new game Guacamelee! and I must say it's a nice blend of classic Metroidvania style action and Megaman style platforming. Guacamelee! has a 'dual world' feature where you have to jump through portals to navigate the levels. These two worlds are called The World of the Living and The World of the Dead. You will come across enemies that are shrouded in shadow that cannot be attacked, as they are in the other world, but simply jumping in a portal will allow you to defeat said enemy. Read More...
